Tibet Secret 7-Day Tour: Unlock the Stunning Routes of the Soul's Pure Land
Hey travel enthusiasts👋! It's time to escape the hustle and bustle and join me on a journey to the mysterious and sacred land of Tibet!🌄
Day1: First Impressions of Lhasa🏙️
Arrive in Lhasa, first adapt to the plateau climate, stroll around Barkhor Street, feel the rich Tibetan culture, and don't forget to try the authentic butter tea and tsampa🍵🥣.
Day2-3: Pilgrimage to Potala Palace🏰
The morning sun shines on the golden roof of the Potala Palace, and at that moment, the soul is completely shocked!🙏 Explore the palace, delving into its millennia-old history and faith.
Day4: Namtso's Blue Tears🌊
Drive to Namtso, a mesmerizing blue expanse where the lake and sky intertwine into a stunning picture. Standing by the lake, it feels as if you can hear the whispers of the wind and the songs of the water.🎶
Day5-6: Pious Journey in Shigatse🙏
Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lama, where every brick exudes solemnity and tranquility. Then, head to the Everest Base Camp. Although not climbing to the summit, gazing at the world's highest peak from afar is a lifelong fulfillment!🏔️
Day7: Farewell to Yamdrok Lake🌄
The last day is reserved for Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet's three sacred lakes. As the light changes, the lake presents different shades of blue, mesmerizingly beautiful. Here, say goodbye to this pure land, but the memories will be cherished forever.💖
Those planning to come to Tibet in June must see this
6⃣ June in Tibet, I would call it the best time to travel🎈! Not to mention the fewer people and beautiful scenery, it coincides with Tibet's rainy season, the air is more humid, and the oxygen content is at its highest throughout the year🫁, making it less likely to suffer from altitude sickness. During the day, temperatures usually range between 20 - 25 degrees Celsius, and at night, they are around 10 - 15 degrees, neither cold nor hot, making it an especially good season for visiting👏.
First, you need to choose a mode of transportation that suits you, based on your financial situation and time availability. Taking a plane✈ takes less time, while a train🚞 allows you to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way, but it requires more time.
June in Tibet is also during the traditional festival 'Saga Dawa Festival', which is one of the grander ethnic traditional festivals in Tibet. Various ceremonies and traditional dance performances are held during this period, and the festival usually lasts for a month🔥
🌟Attraction Recommendations
📍Potala Palace: Standing on the Red Hill, it is the highest palace in the world👍.
📍Jokhang Temple: The first Buddhist temple in Tibet, built by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo. Every day, a large number of devout followers come to Jokhang Temple to prostrate and worship🙏.
📍Everest Base Camp: Located at an altitude of 5200 meters, it is one of the best places to view the world's 1⃣ highest peak - Mount Everest🏔.
📍Namtso: Known as 'Heavenly Lake', it is surrounded by beautiful scenery, with the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains stretching in the distance🌄.
📍Yamdrok Lake: Considered by locals to be 'turquoise earrings scattered by a goddess'. The lake water changes into a myriad of blue hues with the sunlight, which is breathtaking💙.
📍Sacred Mountain and Holy Lake Scenic Area: Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar in western Tibet's Ngari are the most popular tourist attractions, and June is also the best time to visit. Lake Manasarovar, one of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes in Tibet, is located at an altitude of 4718 meters within the Gangdise mountain range and is known as one of the 'three great holy lakes' of Tibet; while Mount Kailash is one of the most sacred Buddhist mountains in Tibet and a famous pilgrimage site🙏.
‼Precautions
⚠Ensure you get plenty of sleep the day before departure, do not catch a cold, and if you have a cold, it is not recommended to come to Tibet😷
⚠Do not bathe or wash your hair for the first two days after arrival, as the climate in Tibet has a large temperature difference between morning and evening, and bathing can cause rapid evaporation of water, which can lead to a cold due to the quick loss of body heat❄
⚠The distances between various scenic spots in Tibet are long, so it's a good idea to carry some small snacks like chocolate, cola, beef jerky, etc., to replenish your energy🍫
⚠The outdoor UV rays are strong, and the sunlight is dazzling during the day, so it's best to bring sunscreen, a sun hat, and sunglasses🕶 to protect your skin and eyes.
⚠It is advisable to find a local tour group or leader in advance for a more worry-free experience🤗
⚠People with severe hypertension, heart disease, respiratory diseases, and other conditions not recommended by doctors should not travel to Tibet💊

【Things to Know Before Departure】
💥 First, the sunlight in Lhasa is really intense, with strong ultraviolet rays! Remember to do a good job with sun protection: hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, and sun-protective clothing are all essential!
🌡️ As for the climate, it's very dry, with a huge temperature difference between day and night! No matter the season, an outer coat is a must. It can be hot during the day, but sun protection is still necessary. At night or when going to higher altitudes, you'll need to wear a thick jacket or down coat!
💡 Another tip: on your first day in Lhasa, don't rush to wash your hair or take a shower, as it's easy to catch a cold. Also, don't hurry to Potala Palace, as climbing stairs without acclimating can lead to altitude sickness.
【Touring Tips】
📸 Remember to bring your ID card when going out, as you need to show it to enter Barkhor Street. Photography is not allowed inside temples, and remember to wear long pants, not skirts, shorts, or slippers.
🚗 For transportation, it takes about 70 minutes by taxi from the train station to the city center, and from the airport to the city center. You can choose the airport shuttle bus as a more economical option. In the city, it is recommended to take a taxi.
🏨 For accommodation, it is recommended to stay in a hotel with oxygen supply near Barkhor Street or Potala Palace, which has been renovated in the last two years and is equipped with oxygen machines in the rooms!
🍽️ You can't miss the local cuisine! Highland barley wine, butter tea, tsampa, yak yogurt, stone pot chicken, Tibetan yak meat hotpot, potato buns... every bite is the taste of Lhasa!

The Potala Palace in Tibet
Different views of the Potala Palace throughout the four seasons, the Potala Palace, located in Lhasa, Tibet, is a symbol of Tibetan Buddhism and a World Cultural Heritage. Its mystique comes from the uniqueness of its location and architecture, religious beliefs and legends, the mysterious power of the treasures within, the complex labyrinth layout, the history of monks' cultivation, and the unsolved historical mysteries. As one of the mysterious buildings, the Potala Palace displays a profound cultural and historical heritage.
The first choice for accommodation in Lhasa, Shangri-La Hotel where you can see the Potala Palace from the hotel
I have longed for Tibet for a long time, but for various reasons, I have not been able to make the trip for many years. Instead, this time I flew directly to Lhasa without any preparation or mental construction, and stayed in the Shangri-La Hotel, the highest hotel in the world. I stayed in a room where I could see the Potala Palace. This is my first intimate contact with Lhasa and Tibet.
Many people will have some fear of altitude sickness before their first trip to Tibet, especially those who fly directly like me, need to prepare a lot in advance. I didn't do any preparation, and staying in Shangri-La made me feel good. The room full of Tibetan charm has an oxygen machine and a humidifier, and you can lie flat for two days to adjust your physical condition. The most important thing is that you can see the Potala Palace without leaving the house. Every day watching the sun rise on the top of the mountain and illuminate the Potala Palace bit by bit, under the reflection of the light, the Potala Palace will show different extraordinary charms at every hour, until the night falls, the Potala Palace is also covered with neon, more magnificent.
And all of this can be seen lying in bed, a day seems like a ring of years, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Potala Palace. Especially the room I stayed in this time, not only in the bedroom, but also in the bathroom, you can see the Potala Palace, that is to say, you can see the majestic Potala Palace while lying in the bathtub, but it is not recommended to take a bath on the first day of arrival in Lhasa, you can try it according to your own situation the next day. If your room is not a Potala Palace view room, you can also enjoy the majestic Potala Palace and magnificent mountains on the viewing platform on the 5th floor of the hotel, and see the various styles of Lhasa city.
The interior design of Shangri-La in Lhasa is personally handled by Lin Fengnian, the helmsman of Singapore's LTW Design Company. Walking into Shangri-La, from the grand chandelier in the lobby to the subtle decorations, you can feel the mystery and mystery of the strong Tibetan religious symbols, which is love at first sight. The hotel also has a diffuse oxygen bar, which is the only five-star hotel in Lhasa with 24-hour professional oxygen supply. There are also constant temperature swimming pools, gyms, spas, traveler's bars and so on, everything is available. If your physical condition is good, the Tibet Museum is just across from the hotel, and the Norbulingka (Summer Palace) can be reached in ten minutes on foot, these are must-visit places in Lhasa.
Many people say that Lhasa is a food desert, but fortunately there is Shangri-La. The Shang Palace Chinese Restaurant has always been a benchmark in the industry, and the recently launched Cantonese dim sum has the advantages of deliciousness and high cost performance. The buffet at the Cloud Top Cafe gathers Tibetan specialties and international cuisine, with a rich variety and diverse tastes. Staying in Shangri-La, every meal is a feast of food, and every day is a luxurious and noble living experience.
First time in Lhasa with St.Regis
First time in Lhasa for an exotic getaway!
St.Regis has been on my wishlist for years and it doesn’t let me down! A great combination of culture, art, food and luxury - this is the oasis in downtown Lhasa.

on board the Tibet Express train
the highest railway in world with 80% over 4000m asl and 960km at high altitude. This is the Beijing-Lhasa (also called Qinghai-Tibet) Railway that connect Xining capital of Qianhai province with Lhasa capital of Tibet. Tangula Station is the highest in world at 5200m. The trains have free oxygen on board. I spent 24h between Xining and Lhasa, I was the only foreigner on board and I met many friendly passengers! The scenery along the journey changes based on the altitude and …just can’t stop taking photos!

Tibet
We did a fantastic 10 day tour with our tour guide Sonam Tenphel around Tibet. We saw all the highlights including Mt Everest, the Portala Palace and a tone of monasteries.
The altitude can be difficult to deal with at times and it’s a good idea to take it slowly.
Overall a fantastic time.
Oasis in Lhasa
This hotel stay was arranged by our tour company. The rooms are very comfortable and there is a beautiful garden courtyard restaurant with very good food. The staff also speak English.

Potala Palace - Tibet Autonomous Region
Getting there - Book with a tour group to get to Tibet. We used JoyTravel in China and they were wonderful. :)
Take a moment to stop and catch your breath, the Potala Palace sits at an elevation of 3700 meters about 12,100 feet. We spent time hiking up and through each room. The many rooms of the palace were exquisite and it was such a treat to learn about the history of each location. Photography is not permitted inside, however, this made the experience seem even more special and we were able to take in the sights without any distractions.

💚💙💜The colors of Lhasa❤️🧡💛
Magical, colourful and historical Lhasa is filled to the brim with culture. As you walk the streets you will see the common scene of local pilgrims walking the kora circuit, chanting prayers, prostrating outside of temples and making offerings to the monks.
It is not simple for a foreigner to visit, as you need to be on a guided tour. We found a locally owned company, who organized our Tibetan visas and accommodation and we spent our time with a fantastical Tibetan guide and driver. All of our questions were answered, and we got an in-depth history lesson of the area and all the sites we visited.
As a vegetarian, I was a little worried about my food options, but many places sold Nepalese curry which was 🤩🤩🤩
We visited in December, which was perfect. There were barely any other tourists and we had all the sites practically to ourselves. In summer you have to compete with the nonstop bus loads of tourists vying for the best picture-perfect spot.
You should spend at least 10 days in Tibet to really see the area. As it’s a high altitude, it is necessary to stay in Lhasa for at least 3 nights to acclimate.

Tibet - an icy Winter Wonderland
Initially hesitant to try this trip in the Winter, I was bowled over by the combination of mysticism, culture, disciplined lifestyles and natural beauty thy Tibet had to offer.
Be prepared for altitude sickness, especially at the Base Camp stop - be sure to have sufficient oxygen supplies and Rhodiola pills. Food is super cheap and really generous portions are served. The local dumplings called Momos are great and yak meat is abundant. I wasn’t a big fan of the local butter tea though. The monasteries were beautiful but most trips include 10 too many so plan with your agent, your ideal itinerary.
It was super cold and hard to breathe (Everest region plummeted to -30 degrees at night) but definitely a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. lots of driving this mountains and you feel transported into a different world. Quite surreal and the local people are very welcoming and friendly - intrigued by foreigners.
Definitely a trip worth taking!#tigeryear2022

Attractions - Amazing trip, people are very friendly and sociable, always ready to help
Hotels - Ji hotel Lhasa Jokhang temple (a little bit far from center) 虽然说是大昭寺店,但离大昭寺有三个站之遥。 周围吃饭不太方便,不在商业区。 房间还行,没毛病。只是我订的比较晚,又是旺季,价格有点高。
Food & Restaurants - Snowland Restaurant (This old-timer has a new location but is still an extremely popular place that serves a mix of excellent continental and Nepali food in very civilised surroundings. The Indian dishes are particularly good, especially the tasty chicken butter masala (¥55) and giant naan breads. The cakes are the best in town; give the lemon pie our fond regards)
Shopping - a lot souvenirs shop#nationalpark
JOKHANG
Jokhang , also known as Qoikang Monastery, is a Buddhist temple on Barkhor Square in Lhasa. Tibetans generally consider this temple to be the most sacred temple in Tibet. The temple is currently run by the Gelug sect, but they accept worshipers from all sects of Buddhism. The temple, considered the "spiritual heart of the city" and the holiest in Tibet, is at the center of Lhasa's network of ancient Buddhist temples. It is the focal point of commercial activity in the city, with a maze of streets radiating from it. Jokhang is located 1,000 meters (3,300 ft) east of the Potala Palace. Barkhor, the market square in the center of Lhasa, has a path for pilgrims to walk around the temple (which takes about 20 minutes). Barkhor Square is marked with four stone sankang (incense burners), two of which are in front of the temple and two at the back. Jokhang was originally built to house a Buddha statue brought to Tibet by the wife of King Songtsen Gampo who was from Nepal. However, another image, Jowa Sakyamuni, was later transferred here by another wife of the king (Princess Wencheng of China), and it is this image that gives Jokhang its name and spiritual potential: Jokhang means 'Jowo chapel'. Tourists can only visit Jokhang Temple in the afternoon; the morning is reserved for the pilgrims. The best way to enjoy the temple is to arrive at 8am to watch the pilgrims perform their worship, then visit the interior in the afternoon. The temple was relatively quiet at that time, except for the presence of a Chinese student tour guide.

POTALA PALACE
The Potala Palace is a building that is considered a landmark and symbol of Tibet. This building is a large palace consisting of many houses, towers, chapels, and so on. The Potala Palace is the tallest palace in the world and is known for its spectacular architectural style, so it is revered as one of the most beautiful architectural buildings in the world The Potala Palace is located in Lhasa, Tibet, once an imperial palace, seat of government, and monastery, now it is one of the must-visit tourist destinations for Tibetan tourists. This building also stores a variety of interesting historical facts to discuss. This is a collection of interesting facts about the Potala Palace, compiled from the China Highlights and Listerious pages. The Potala Palace is built 117 meters above the mountain, with impressive zigzag steps. When you walk around the buildings of Lhasa city, you will not find any buildings taller than the top of the Potala Palace. To preserve the unique atmosphere around the palace as well, a ban has been imposed on building buildings over 21 meters high. This is a sign of respect for the sacred site. Therefore, you will not see skyscrapers towering above the palace. Construction of the palace began in 1645 by order of the 5th Dalai Lama. The 5th Dalai Lama named Lozang Gyatso, this Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader decided to build the palace because of its unique location. The location is also considered perfect for use as a government center, because of its location right between the Drepung monastery, Sera, and the city of Lhasa. Inside the Potala Palace building is the stupa of the 5th Dalai Lama with a height of 14.85 meters, which is overlaid with 3,721 kg of gold, and gems adorn the stupa, such as pearls, coral, amber, and agate. The 5th Dalai Lama's Stupa is the most luxurious and most valuable stupa.
