Hikone Castle
Hikonyan ~
#2023travelwish
This is the Hikone castle situated in Hikone, Shiga Prefecture. It takes approximately an hour train ride from Kyoto station. Hikone is a small and quiet town, an off-beaten path. The castle can be reached within 15 minutes in foot. I really love the castle as the mascot is so cute and it does small performances too! The castle is three-storey tall and there is also a garden to explore~ There is also a mountain view to enjoy. I love it so much that I’ve visited twice! 😂
I wish that I can visit more castles in the future ~
Green Travel in Japan
#greentrip #greentravel #japan
With the recent news of Japan set to open up soon by October, there will soon be a lot who will be looking forward to visiting Japan soon. On our last Japan trip, we had mostly used the train, which is considered as one of the sustainable & eco-friendly ways of traveling around. Do you know that electric trains emit a lot less CO2 as compared to road & air travel? Traveling by train can be around 10 times less CO2 emissions as compared to traveling by air. Traveling by train is also more efficient as a lot more people can board a train than other public transportation such as buses & cars.
In addition to these, it's also more enjoyable as you can admire the scenery while the train brings you to the different cities. We had bought the JR West Pass & used the trains to go to Kyoto, Nara and Hikone, where we then walked quite a fair bit around the different attractions, temples, parks and Hikone Castle. With the cool spring weather, walking while taking in the beautiful scenery is recommended, and of course a much more eco-friendly way of travel too. Just make sure that you travel light and have a water bottle/reusable bottle.
Hikone Castle Plum Grove
Besides the super popular Cherry Blossom 🌸 that most will travel to Japan around end March/early April, there's also the beautiful Plum/Ume Blossom in Japan which bloom around February/March period.
Hikone Castle too has a plum grove in the castle area which usually blooms around mid to end March. We were there around early mid March, & the 400 over pink/white plum blossoms in the Plum Grove were almost near full bloom. It was so amazing and beautiful. Walking through the Plum Grove was simply a lovely and pretty sight, and definitely a must-visit. The weather was still cold as it rained before that and also it's only the beginning of spring.

It's 10 minutes away by car from Maibara Station so the hotel provides free shuttle to drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon. The room is spacious and beautifully decorated in Japanese style with a balcony looking out to Biwa Lake. The view from the outdoor onsen is stunning as you could feel that the lake is almost within your reach. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Only a handful can speak English but those who don't, try their best to communicate with you.overall awesome

Stunning views over the lake and a very peaceful and beautiful place. Somewhat inconsistent service and the beds were like sleeping on concrete blocks. Asked for an ice bucket and glasses and was told there’s a 3,000 yen corkage fee :-( The new spa is very nice although the “ice bath” outside the sauna was very warm so you don’t get that hot/cold refreshing feeling. They have a serious ventilation problem at dinner.overall this place is good for camping too

The early summer view of Lake Biwa made me see the flowers described in the Book of Songs
👀 I finally saw the 'Xingcai' mentioned in the Book of Songs; the tender yellow Xingcai gently swayed with the soft waves of Lake Biwa. 😍
📍Location: Lake Biwa
🎫Admission: Free
🅿Parking: You can navigate directly to 'Lake Biwa Parking Lot'. Normally, parking costs 15 yuan per time, 40 yuan per time on weekends, and 60 yuan per time during holidays such as National Day and Chinese New Year.
The enchanting place name 'Omi-Maiko' meets the most beautiful Lake Biwa at Tsukimi Beach
Tsukimi Beach is the most surprising accidental discovery, and travel is just so enchanting, with surprises often hidden in the unknown. It wasn't originally planned to come here, but it seems destined to arrive.
Location: Tsukimi Beach in Lake Biwa National Park (bang).
Transportation: If you're coming from Kansai, take the JR to JR Omi-Maiko, and it's a 2-minute walk towards Lake Biwa from the station.
Experience: Enjoying the entirety of Lake Biwa alone, in peace and tranquility, is probably what they mean by 'a serene distance.'
Niche: I deliberately included a live, all with sound, the clear lake water, the waves one after another, lapping against the fine sand on the shore, gentle and kind, really just empties your mind in an instant~
It turns out that compared to the sea, the lake is so shy~ Maybe because the weather is good, it also calms down to enjoy.
Let’s 🤗 Welcome the Sakura🌸Serenity🥰🇯🇵
#cherryblossom2024
The complex has castle, plum orchard, garden, museum, (free) park including kids playground.
All these with beautiful view of lake biwa attached to them.
We visited last week and sakura flowers 🌺 had bloomed in one of the trees facing the castle.🏰
There was a long queue before entering the castle. Probably because it’s weekend and we had good time 🕰️ 🤩

Tranquil Symphony: Morning in Konki
#fallishere
Location:
Hikoneshi Konki Park 彦根市金亀公園

Wandering through Hikoneshi Konki Park on a serene Saturday morning was a poetic experience. The air carried the delicate fragrance of cherry blossoms, whispering tales of nature's timeless beauty. AB Hotel Hikone: Exceeding Expectations!
#hotelreview
Hotel name & address:
AB Hotel Hikone
5-9 Daitocho, Hikone, Shiga 522-0074, Japan
I recently had an outstanding stay at AB Hotel Hikone in Japan. The hotel's location deserves a solid 5-star rating, conveniently situated at 5-9 Daitocho, Hikone, Shiga. The facilities provided were top-notch, and the breakfast offered was delightful, both securing 5-star ratings.
One of the major highlights was the spacious single occupancy room, providing ample comfort. The bed, paired with a large LED TV, added a luxurious touch to the experience. Overall, AB Hotel Hikone exceeded my expectations, offering an excellent blend of comfort, cleanliness, and value for money. I highly recommend it to fellow travelers.

Hikone Castle in Shiga, Japan
Address: 1-1 Konkicho, Hikone 522-0061 Shiga Prefecture
One of the 5 National Treasures (Castles) in Japan, Hikone Castle 🏯 which is over 400 years old, is one of the remaining few with their original structures preserved. The Hikone Castle, although smaller in size than some of the other castles in Japan, is still quite big to me, and we took some time exploring the castle and the surroundings.
As the castle is quite high up, we also need some time to climb up but it's all worth it, with the nice scenic view of Lake Biwa or Biwako, Japan's largest Freshwater Lake.
There's also the cute Hikonyan, which is a mascot created in 2007 to mark the 400th anniversary of Hikone Castle. You can take a photo with the mascot standee which is in front of the castle. There's also the cute mascot toys and merchandise sold in Hikone too.
Overall, for me, it's definitely worth a visit to at least one of the castles in Japan. Hope to be able to travel to Japan soon again.

Net red must hit the card to see the cherry blossoms in Japan.
When it comes to visiting cherry blossoms in Japan, many people responded first to Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. In fact, there are many places where cherry blossoms are enjoyed in Japan, so it is definitely a technical job to choose a destination to avoid the peak of people. Hikone Castle, which is about 1.5 hours drive from Kyoto, is very recommended. The pink cherry blossoms here are very famous in Japan, but because they are far from Kyoto, tourists are much less than Kyoto.
Hikone Castle is an ancient city located in Kanagawa-cho, Hikone, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. It is also one of the four remaining wooden castles in Japan's national treasures and national monuments. The city completely preserved the way of building the city before the Edo period. Alias Golden Turtle City (Golden City).
Compared with the cherry blossom period in Kyoto, Hikone Castle will be opened almost a few days in the evening, so it is too late to make plans.
Ticket: 800 yen.
Hikone Castle's night cherry is very beautiful, so if time permits, it is recommended to stay here for one night. It is recommended to take a night shot with a slow door.
Hakone Castle is not a popular place for Hakone Castle, but Himemoto Castle is famous in Japan. One of the eight scenes is the Yueming Hikone Castle, which is located in Kanagawa-cho, Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. It is one of the four remaining wooden castles in Japan. It is also known as the Golden Turtle City and is Japan's designated national treasure and national monument.
It is the cherry blossom season of Hikone Castle from March 30 to April 15 of each year. It is convenient to go to Hikone Castle from Kyoto. Take the JR Lake Biwa Line under Hikone. After exiting the station, you can walk to Hikone Castle for a quarter of an hour. Tickets 800 yen per person.
Hakone Castle at the time of cherry blossoms, spectacular, beautiful city under the moat, one side of pink cherry blossoms on one side, green pines and cypresses on one side, the pool water is blown by the breeze, the white swan is rowing water leisurely, during the cherry blossoms There is a houseboat boating moat, very beautiful.
Standing on the platform of the castle, you can also overlook the blue lagoon in the distance, worth visiting.
2019 The cherry blossoms of Hikone Castle opened slightly later, and it is expected to be fully open around April 12.
Many people know Japan's very famous Osaka Castle or Himeji Castle, but there are not many foreigners who know Hikone Castle.
Hikone Castle is actually next to Penghu, the largest freshwater lake in Japan. It is also very convenient to arrive at Hikone Castle. You can take a direct ride on the JR Biwa Line. It takes only ten minutes to walk from the station to Hikone Castle.
Hikone Castle Here you will find that although it is not big, it retains a lot of ancient atmosphere, and some of the big river dramas are also here. You will find many scenes familiar.
Hikgen City can go to the city, board the castle tower, you can look at Penghu, the sun is beautiful when the sun sets.
Hikone Castle and Himeji Castle are very similar. They are one of the four remaining wooden castles in Japan's national treasures and national monuments. They were built during the Warring States Period and completely preserved the way of building the city before the Edo period.
This time, I went to the Tianshou Pavilion more than the Tianshouge people who went to Himeji Castle in the Maple Season before, and they lined up for 30 minutes outside the door to enter. Here too, take off your shoes and use plastic bags to climb the stairs to visit, but the whole wooden structure is inferior to Himeji. After all, Himeji is proud of its 7-storey wooden structure. The Hikone should have only three floors.
After visiting the snack street in Sakura Forest, I bought octopus balls and Hiroshima, and as the netizens said, the Chinese balls are better, although the Japanese octopus is bigger, but the meatballs are actually Too soft, I don't like it very much.
