This is my travel checklist and I love their food and service. Even if you dine alone at a hot pot place, it is totally fine too and they staff will even present you an eating partner to dine with you. Your needs are taken care of here by the staff from the moment you arrive at Hai Di Lao. There are many pulling factors to dine at Hai Di Lao as there are many complimentary value added service. In this area, there are many small scale hotels and most of them occupy a few floors in the building. Some popular hotel franchises also have setup their hotels here and I want to introduce this Atour Haikou at Qilou Old street. You can easily find Atour hotels all over China and they are a no frills hotel with comfortable and clean rooms. Locate the main building and once you enter you can check the directory and follow the signs to the elevator. Sometimes, you might have to transfer elevators to another building but this is acceptable. Some boutique hotels are not so straightforward to navigate. But once you arrive, it is worth it because the views at this hotel is awesome.

Haikou is the capital city on the island of Hainan and is coastal with various beaches. There is an old town that has a lot of culture and nice buildings which shouldn’t really take longer than a day to explore. The city is smaller than other Chinese cities but there are a lot of areas that have restaurants and bars catering to both expats and local people. Old European Style Area in Haikou, Hainan
Qilou Old Street is a surreal little area in the middle of Haikou, Hainan. For brief moments it really does feel like you are walking down the streets of a traditional Portuguese town.
There were some cute little cafes and boutique shops to wander around, ideal if you want to spend an afternoon there just taking it easy and drinking coffee.
Best way to get there is probably a didi. The location is relatively central so wont cost much from wherever you are in the city.

A walk down this street in Haikou is a nice way to spend an hour or two. The buildings are well maintained and the streets nice and clean. There are some lovely coffee shops along the way which are worth a visit. This area is a traditional but very picturesque part of beautiful Haikou city. Here you can walk along the river and take stunning photos of Bell Tower. You can enjoy the cooling breeze and then walk to the old street for some delicious snacks.
Tip: Coming at night will be cooler and bustling. Worth checking out.
