It's not that Altay is unaffordable, but Wenhai in Lijiang offers better value for money

Wenhai is not a sea; it is a seasonal lake similar to Shangri-La's Napa Lake. In the summer, the grasslands are filled with various flowers, and herds of cattle and sheep graze freely, resembling a Monet garden. 🏔️ In the distance, the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain stands tall. Wenhai feels like a secluded village nestled in the embrace of the snow-capped mountains. After traversing winding mountain roads, you find a hidden paradise, untouched by the outside world's hustle and bustle, with stunning scenery. ▪️ Navigation: Wenhai Village ▪️ Ticket: Currently 🆓 (under development) ▪️ Transportation: No public transport/self-driving required 🚗 The road from Lijiang to Wenhai is a small winding mountain road. The journey is not long, but it takes an hour to drive. The road is narrow with many turns, so be cautious of oncoming traffic. ⚠️ It is recommended to arrive around 3 PM to avoid the harsh midday light. Around 5 PM, the grazing cattle and sheep will start to leave the meadow and head home. Plan your visit accordingly if you want to see them. Suggested itinerary 🚩 Day 1: One-day tour of Lijiang Old Town Day 2: Shuhe Ancient Town - Baisha Ancient Town - Fuguo Temple - Wenhai Village 🥢 Lijiang Cuisine ✔️ Tried Yunnan cuisine at Muyu. Ruins Restaurant, which has a great ambiance. Highly recommend the Pu'er tea roasted meat and the mare's milk wine! ✔️ Visited the filming location of 'Youth Tour' at Shanzhu Coffee. The Yunnan rose latte is a must-try. It's right next to Muyu, with a lazy and comfortable environment. Almost couldn't find a seat when I went at 4 PM! ✔️ Had the sour soup yak meat hotpot at Tian Village, right by the big waterwheel. The yak meat was fresh and tender, and I drank several bowls of the sour soup. 🏨 Lijiang Accommodation I stayed at Xitian. Yue Shang Inn in Shuhe Ancient Town, between Wenhai and Lijiang. It's also a filming location for 'Youth Tour.' The environment is amazing, surrounded by greenery. On the day I left, it rained, and listening to the rain in the room was so healing! It's conveniently close to both Muyu and Shanzhu.
