Xi'an Museum, Exploring the Historical Script with "Tang Ghost 3"

Recently, Shaanxi Radio and Television Station, in collaboration with the Xi'an Museum's cultural relics, interpreted elements from the popular drama "Tang Ghost 3." The drama's exotic settings are inspired by the multiculturalism of Chang'an during the flourishing Tang Dynasty. The Xi'an Museum houses many related highlight relics. The stone coffin of Shi Jun from the Northern Zhou Dynasty is a treasure of the museum. Its owner once served as the "Liangzhou Sabao," a position that evolved from a caravan leader to an official managing affairs of Hu merchants. The stone coffin was built by the tomb owner's son, witnessing the integration of the Sogdians into the Central Plains. The line-engraved patterns on the coffin confirm the detail in the drama where Zoroastrians wear white masks; Zoroastrian priests wore "masks" to prevent saliva from desecrating the fire, reflecting reverence for fire. Additionally, the pottery figurines from the tomb of the Lady of Jinxiang County in the Tang Dynasty provide archaeological evidence for the "Seven Holy Blades" deity-inviting ritual depicted in the drama.
