If you only have one day in Wuhan, this route is honestly very manageable, and still give you time and energy to explore the night attractions. ⸻ 🌄 Morning — Hubei Provincial Museum (湖北省博物馆) I booked my ticket 5 days in advance on WeChat , and I’m glad I chose the morning slot — fewer people, cooler weather, better photos. ✔ What I Saw (Essential 1.5h Version) • Sword of Goujian (越王勾践剑) — the highlight • Chu State 800-Year Exhibition (楚国八百年展) • Zenghouyi Chime Bells (曾侯乙编钟) • Chu Star Atlas in the North Pavilion (楚天展) You can spend 3–4 hours if you want since there are so many halls, but 1.5 hours was perfect for the highlights. ✔ Fun extras • Tried the AR “Walk into the Chu Palace (楚王宫)” experience — surprisingly good • Collected cultural stamp prints ⸻ 🍜 Lunch — Simple but Good I grabbed food nearby — lots of local options. Recommend: lotus root soup (藕汤), Wuchang fish (武昌鱼), or just go for something quick in the museum café. ⸻ 🌿 Afternoon — East Lake Scenic Area (东湖风景区) From the museum’s north gate, I use the metro underpass and reached Tingtao Scenic Area (听涛景区) in about 15 minutes. The best part? A lot of East Lake is completely free, including: • Xingyin Pavilion (行吟阁) • Baitan Fish Viewing (碧潭观鱼) Super relaxing to walk along the lakeside with willows and water breeze. ✔ Paid Option (Recommended if you want to see more or save energy: At Liyuan Entrance (梨园入口), I bought the ¥40 sightseeing shuttle pass — unlimited rides across: • Moshan (磨山) • Luoyan Island (落雁岛) • Cable car / slide (索道 / 滑道) It saved me a LOT of walking. ⸻ 🔔 Tips I Learned • Go straight to the Sword of Goujian Hall at 9am — the queue gets long. • For East Lake Greenway (东湖绿道), if you’re biking, stick to the prettiest 500m section unless you want the full 28km challenge. • On holidays, allow buffer time — both places get popular.
