Wanaka Otago Region South Island

The city of Wanaka which is located in the south of the island of New Zealand is very attractive for adventurers and tourists who want to relax. Located in the clear waters of New Zealand's fourth largest lake, a short drive from Mount Aspiring National Park, the town of Wanaka is an ideal place for fishing, hiking, skiing, wine tasting or golfing. The city also hosts Warbirds Over Wanaka, the Southern Hemisphere's largest three-day space exhibition. It's nice to see somewhere relatively unspoilt by buildings and over-tourism. We visited early March, pretty much late in the season. Could happily have spent longer here, but we're staying for Josef Glacier. The walk from Edgewater to town is about 20 minutes. Winding along the shoreline. Loved Wanaka himself. Quite pleasant after the hustle and bustle of Queenstown. The water is so beautiful and clear. Real treat not to see trash anywhere.
