Established on May 16, 1972, this place commemorates Sun Yat-sen, who established the Three Principles of the People - nationalism, democracy, and the people's livelihood - and ended the Qing dynasty to found the Republic of China, serving as its first provisional president. He is revered as the father of the nation in both Taiwan and China. The Dr. Sun Yat-sen Library within the hall houses over 300,000 books and spans about 20 halls, along with a vast park, making it a beloved cultural and leisure spot for the citizens of Taipei. Upon entering the main hall, one can see a 5.8-meter-tall statue of Sun Yat-sen weighing 16.7 tons, and the precise changing of the guard ceremony that takes place every hour is quite fascinating. At 18:00, instead of a changing of the guard, a flag-lowering ceremony is conducted.
