Crazy burial rites at Lake Toba

The burial practices around Lake Toba are a bit mind-blowing. The Batak people have unique rites and family tomb has a few levels. When someone new in the family dies, their body is placed on the lowest level, while older family members are moved up to higher levels. On the top level, only bones are kept, piled together. And what's interesting - they are Christians. It’s a cultural experience that’s both eerie and beautiful, making you think about life, death, and family in a new way. One more interesting thing to note is that such tombs a randomly scattered around the entire Samosir island, rather than be accumulated at one place like a cemetery. #travelvlog #travelstory #tradition #voyagevibes #100waysoftravel #myhiddengems #malaysiatrip #traveldiaries #indonesia #northsumatra
