Strolling and Snapshots in Quanzhou Old Town

The buildings in Quanzhou's old town are all in the Minnan red brick mansion style, with walls decorated in brick patterns and temple roof ridges adorned with even more intricate and colorful designs. There is a saying about Quanzhou's architectural features: "Bricks meet stone at swallowtail ridges, carved beams and painted rafters rise like a palace." Over these two days wandering around the ancient city, I truly felt this. Also notable are the large banyan trees and the bougainvillea blooming everywhere. In Xunpu Village, people of all kinds are dressed up with makeup and flowers, but the most authentic scene is the elderly women on the street processing oysters in a simple, homey way. At night, various small shops open, their lights dazzling. There are many kinds of night snacks; after seafood and beef offal, a bowl of sweet four-fruit soup finishes the meal perfectly! This lively and bustling atmosphere is probably what the immortals enjoy too, hence the saying, "Half the city is immortal, half the city is fireworks."
