Traveling to Ancient Times - Nanjing Zhan Garden (National 6)

Zhan Garden is located at No. 128, Zhanyuan Road, Nanjing City. It faces south, is 127 meters deep, 123 meters wide, and has a building area of 9,600 square meters. Zhan Garden is also known as the Ming Palace and the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom History Museum. It is one of the "Four Famous Gardens in Jiangnan" along with Jichang Garden in Wuxi, and the Humble Administrator's Garden and Lingering Garden in Suzhou. Zhan Garden is the oldest existing classical garden in Nanjing, and the best-preserved classical garden complex, with a history of more than 600 years. The history of Zhan Garden can be traced back to the Wu Palace before the Ming Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang ascended the throne. At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang built this garden for the King of Zhongshan, Xu Da, because he thought that Xu Da had "no peace of mind." After three generations of repairs and expansions by the Xu family, the garden took shape during the Wanli period. In the second year of the Shunzhi period (1645), the garden became the office of the Left Minister of Jiangnan Province. Emperor Qianlong visited Jiangnan and visited Zhan Garden twice, and inscribed the plaque "Zhan Garden."
