Don’t be confused but Ubud Cottages in Malang will really make you feel like you’re in Bali. From the facade of the hotel, the swimming pool area details, the four poster bed, and the uniquely carved doors of the cottages, to name a few – you’d question yourself if you’re still in Malang. The cottages are named after different puppets in Balinese puppet shows. And each room and cottage have different themes to suit different tastes. For example, the Sadewa cottage has a terrace and direct pool access. While the Bima cottage is designed for honeymooners with a four poster bed and of course, privacy. How cool is that? We know there are so many exciting things to do around Malang. But hey, when you get tired from traveling to and from your hotel, the double pool and surrounding tropical garden will make you want to lay down on a lounge chair and chill. #passionpassport

When you hear of a property that’s eco-friendly, you won’t really expect the place to be look grand. Especially if they are reusing reclaimed timber from old Java teak wooden houses. However, a stay at Kampung Lumbung is just like traveling back in time. The property has managed to preserve East Java Kampong architecture. No other property actually has a place for backpackers, unlike Kampung Lumbung which has special backpacker’s huts. (They can only accommodate a maximum of two people though!) True to their eco- friendly vibes, they have their own garden aka mini-forest too. There, the endangered plant species that they grow in their own backyard are properly labeled. Talk about love for mother earth. Relaxing in their pool is like no other. Why? Though built like a modern pool, the water used is actually spring water! #passionpassport

Bataputi Coffee, Located in a beautiful large garden with an architectural mix of indoor and outdoor designs, this coffeehouse surrounded by nature and good vibes is perfect for the sunset. If you are travelling with friends or family, sit in the outdoor area where the small wooden gazebos promise a natural yet spacious set-up. A great spot for your weekend lunch too! The menu consists of a wide variety of coffee options and the food is also diverse. From a mix of local and international dishes, you can choose Bruschetta for starters, and a pizza or pasta for the main dish. The Rock and Roll Fried Spring Rolls looks simply delicious, but if you want to try some local starters, we recommend Tempe Mendoan or Tape Rondo Royal for drinks. These are some special options! Bata Puti has it all – there’s simply no reason to not drop by when you are in Malang! #passionpassport

Nestled in a residential area, Madam Wang Secret Garden is the place for people to hang out. Serving Indonesian and Western cuisine, the restaurant is divided into several areas with different concepts, starting from a gypsy-like quarter to a glass house and a semi outdoor area in the back. The place is also in the same building with a boutique. They have savory and heavy meals, but their desserts are too delicious to resist, especially Malang’s iconic apple strudel that comes with apple sauce and vanilla ice cream. It is priced at Rp 25,000. The restaurant also comes with a gelato bar. #passionpassport

Not your typical coffee shop, this spot will not fall short as a cultural attraction. The cafe is housed in the dwelling of an ardent collector, so quirky ornaments and antiques in every corner are expected. Naturally, the home, which has an oriental architecture and theme, is also a popular spot for photo shoots. As for the menu, Loe Mien Toe offers various traditional snacks and dishes, Chinese food, and of course, coffee. If you like something unique and old, this is absolutely a good place. It's right beside a river, so that you could hear the river sound clearly. The price was cheap and okay. I give it 4 star because the place is quite isolated, also I personally don't like some old theme cafe. But overall it's pretty good. #passionpassport

Bukit Kuneer - A long time ago, during the Dutch colonization, they introduced products like coffee, tea, tobacco, and rubber in the Malang region. This was possible because of its cooler climate. This was one of the biggest surprises of things to do in Malang. The tea plantations at Bukit Kuneer are in Batu, near Malang. There is a short walking bridge through the fields and is just a beautiful area to enjoy the scenery. The entrance for the area is 12.000 IDR per person. From the parking area, you can either walk to the top for 30 minutes or jump on the back of a motorbike. #passionpassport

One of beach destination in Malang you must visit is the Balekambang Beach. This beach has similar contour to the one in Bali, which is the Tanah Lot where there is a temple on a small island adjacent to the coast. The temple in Balekambang is called Amerta Jati Temple and stands on an island called Ismoyo Island. This temple is still actively used as a place of worship for Hindus, both regular worship ceremonies and large ceremonies such as ‘Suroan’. On this beach you can enjoy the beauty of the sunset with the silhouette of the temple. When the water at the beach is receding, you will see quite exotic rocks on the beach. #passionpassport

Something you would expect in Indonesia is a transport museum. At Museum Angkut, they have a huge collection of airplanes, classic cars, traditional transportations and so much more. It was a fun place to walk around. The Angkut Museum (Transport Museum) is quite famous among travelers in Indonesia. Standing in the area of 3.8 hectares, it has a fairly complete collection. As the name implies, the museum collection are vehicles from various eras and various countries. Angkot Museum has a collection of 300 vehicles and has been confirmed that it is the largest museum in Southeast Asia. To accommodate of those hundred vehicles, the museum building is divided into 8 exhibition zones and each zone has its own unique characteristics. #passionpassport
