Enchanted garden

Ginkaku-ji or the temple of the silver pavilion, are popular names of Jishōji, an important subtemple of the Shōkokuji branch of Rinzai Zen Buddhism located in Kyoto. This villa was inspired by the golden pavilion and is definitely worth a visit. The surrounding garden is most beautiful, my second favourite after Kenroku-en! In recognition of its aesthetic and cultural value, Ginkaku-ji was designated a UNESCO world heritage site in 1994. The route, a one way railed walk through the garden, takes about 30 mins to cover. The wooded grounds covered with a variety of mosses feel absolutely magical, as if a fairy will pop out from behind a tree any moment. At the very start of the route, you will be greeted by the famous sand garden which has sand piles which symbolize Mount Fuji - a beautiful and unique feature. Do not discard your ticket after your visit, you can hang it at the entry to your house as a good luck charm!
