Please, I really highly recommend Arxan, it's definitely a niche autumn spot. It's the earliest autumn in China, I went there in mid-September last year, and it didn't feel particularly yellow yet. You can see little squirrels 🐿 everywhere along the way. The grasslands are covered with harvested haystacks 🍂. The wind blows across the plains, across the wetlands, across the pastures 🍃. 🍂 Recommended Autumn Route A Day 0: Arrive in Hailar Day 1️⃣: Traverse Hulunbuir Grassland → Morigele River → Asian Wetland Day 2️⃣: Ergun → Natural Birch Forest → Reindeer Park → Mordaoga Sunset Mountain Day 3️⃣: Forest Train → Shenxianpo → Shiwei Day 4️⃣: Shiwei → Border Road → Kaxian → Ulan Mountain → Horse Riding to Watch the Most Beautiful Sunset → Bonfire Party Day 5️⃣: Heishantou → Milking Cows and Feeding Lambs, Taking Photos in Mongolian Costumes → Grass Skiing → Matryoshka Dolls → Manzhouli Day 6️⃣: Manzhouli → Hulun Lake → Hohonur → Hailar ✅ Best Travel Time: Early September to mid-October, autumn in Hulunbuir is very short and fleeting, once the time is up, the scenery will be gone. ✅ Transportation: Both Hailar and Manzhouli have airports that can be directly reached, but usually Hailar is cheaper than Manzhouli. Hulunbuir is suitable for customized tours by car or self-driving (self-driving requires experienced drivers, crossing the grassland is a bit dangerous, no roads and no signal).
