Cheung Chau, Hong Kong – Mini Great Wall

Many friends have told me that they only know Hong Kong as a place for eating, drinking, and shopping, and are not very familiar with its islands. So, I want to introduce Cheung Chau. Cheung Chau is one of the more popular islands in Hong Kong. Although it is not very large, it has a long street filled with delicious food, as well as beaches and small walking areas. Despite the extremely hot summers in Hong Kong, many people still visit. You can take a ferry to Cheung Chau from Central Pier No. 5. The regular ferry takes about an hour, while the fast ferry takes around forty minutes. This time, I want to introduce the walking route on Cheung Chau – the Mini Great Wall. The Mini Great Wall is a coastal promenade along the shoreline where you can see various unique rocks such as the Human Head Rock, Vase Rock, and Jade Seal Rock. The walking route is very simple. From the Cheung Chau Pier, go through Tung Wan Beach, pass by the Warwick Hotel to reach Kwun Yam Wan, then walk up the right-hand side to the Mini Great Wall trail, and finally come down from Nam Tam Wan. The walking time is only about forty-five minutes. Of course, along the way, you can enjoy red bean cakes from the Hometown Teahouse or have a drink at an outdoor café, which is very relaxing.
