The Ancient City with Stories | Zhao Hua Ancient City | Guangyuan

Known as 'the foremost county of Bashu and the second capital of the Shu Kingdom,' Zhao Hua Ancient City, formerly known as Jia Yin, was an important gateway to Northern Sichuan during the Han Dynasty to the Three Kingdoms period. Initially just a strategic pass, it gradually developed into a walled city. It is currently the only well-preserved ancient city from the Three Kingdoms period in China. The most famous story here is about Zhang Fei and Ma Chao fighting a night battle by the light of lanterns at the pass.
