In Gothenburg, meet Chinese art: Museum of Arts and Crafts Design

During the winter time in Sweden, it is often drizzly, which is not a suitable season for outdoor sightseeing. Fortunately, Gothenburg has many wonderful art museums and museums, including the Gothenburg Museum of Arts and Crafts. 📍The Röhsska Museum of Arts, Crafts and Design is located near the University of Gothenburg, and can be found by searching for its full name. 📖Compared to the Gothenburg City Museum and Art Museum, this Arts and Crafts Design Museum is not very big, and it takes about two hours to visit. It is very friendly, and if you have a student ID, you can also enter for free. 👩🏻‍🎨What amazed me in the museum was the large collection of ancient Chinese artworks, many of which I had never seen before when visiting museums in China, such as small but exquisite bottles and beautifully colored roof beasts, as well as large hand-embroidered pieces and handmade Buddha statues. The museum's second floor is also hosting an exhibition of works by Chinese designers, integrating their life experiences into VR and contemporary art, which is very exciting. This is the first time I have seen such a large-scale display of Chinese culture and Chinese artists' works in a European country. 📍In addition to these, they also displayed many European arts and crafts, such as Baroque period indoor furniture and post-Bauhaus style interior design. There is also an Italian-designed exhibition hall that has not yet opened (expected to open in June 2023). For students studying applied design, this is really a great travel destination.
