A must-visit|Leading you through time and space, back to the past

|Leading you through time and space, back to the past. A must-visit|Leading you through time and space, back to the past. Coming to Buenos Aires, don't miss this city attraction that best captures the local ambiance! — Plaza Dorrego ⛲ (Plaza Dorrego) is located in the San Telmo district (San Telmo), which is also one of the oldest and most traditional districts of Buenos Aires. As part of the historical center of the city, most of the architectural heritage here is well preserved. Everywhere you look, cobblestone streets, low houses, and courtyards with ponds seem to transport you back in time. Not only is this place a hub for bars, restaurants, and tango eateries, but it is also renowned for its antique shops with a rich array of goods, creating an atmosphere akin to a refined flea market. It is also one of the favorite spots for street performers. If you're lucky, you might even see local tango dancers performing with passion. This square has been listed as a historical site of the city because, a few months after its completion in 1816, the people of Buenos Aires declared independence in Tucumán. In 1970, to add more vitality to the San Telmo area, architect Jose María Pena, who was the director of the Museo de la Ciudad (City Museum) at the time, proposed a small exhibition to persuade 30 neighbors to sell their old belongings at the market. A year later, the exhibition expanded significantly, attracting more than 200 antique dealers. Years later, Defensa Street and the surrounding area became one of the most renowned centers for antique dealers in the Americas.
