Stepping into the old square of Bergamo

Piazza Vecchia is literally the heart of the old town of Bergamo. The Bergamo official tourism website is right about it: just close your eyes and you will immediately feel the presence of history. I would say, it is like flipping the pages in the history book, and you get to travel from Ancient Rome to the present days. There are also many restaurants and cafes in the square amidst of the several buildings that are also located here, such as the Palazzo della Ragione (municipal building), Torre Civica (bell tower), Contarini Fountain, Palazzo Nuovo (previously the town hall but now a library) and others.
