Hike Mount Batur to see a spectacular view

If you wish to see the sunrise from Mount Batur, prepare for a sleepless night. I strongly recommend hiring a private tour because it’s just a much better experience. Our van picked us up from Kuta at 2am so, obviously, we only got 2 hours of sleep 😴. The drive from Kuta to Mount Batur takes about an hour so we napped in the van as well. By the time we arrive at Mount Batur, it was already 3 am. It was extremely dark outside and we couldn’t see anything, anyway, there were plenty of people there. From the van drop off area, we were greeted by our tour guide, we were given flashlights 🔦 to light the way since it was still the middle of the night 🌌. The sky was beautiful though, it was filled with stars because there is next to zero light pollution in the area, you can see a lot of stars. The hike took us 2 hours, but we hike fast, it could take a little longer depending on your speed. It is not easy to hike Mount Batur because of the dark, you need to be extremely careful and watch your steps. When we got to the top of the Mount Batur, it was still dark but soon after the sun starting rising over Mount Agung and the colors started to change. It is a heavenly experience for sure, the feelings you get from seeing this is unbelievable. Our tour guide then made us coffee with some bananas ap we relaxed and gained back some of our energy. The sun kept rising and the colors kept changing, from red to orange and yellow. After some picture taking and view admiring we started to head back down. If you think hiking up the mountain was hard, hiking down was much harder because by then we felt extremely sleepy. We got into our van upon climbing down and slept the entire day at the hotel later on ☀️ Some tips: take a sweater or a hoodie with you, it can by quite cold up there at night. Bring along a towel or a blanket to sit on while enjoying sunrise and some snacks to regain your energy. Enjoy your hike up the Mount Batur 😊 #gooutside #bali #indonesia #batur
