Whistling Dune Bay
Kubuqi Desert
I went to Inner Mongolia for the real-life version of "Dune"... I can't believe I found the same desert scenery in Inner Mongolia as in the movie "Dune".
I went to Inner Mongolia for the real-life version of "Dune"... I can't believe I found the same desert scenery in Inner Mongolia as in the movie "Dune". The scenery of the Kubuqi Desert is really shocking. The natural wind outlines the brush strokes, which is very healing. It feels great to take an off-road vehicle deep into the desert. Staying in a camp in the desert, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, looking up at the starry sky at night, it's really shocking.
Inner Mongolia's Singing Sand Bay! So unrealistically beautiful
Inner Mongolia's Singing Sand Bay🏜️ is so unrealistically beautiful...
Inner Mongolia's Ordos Swimming Pool Desert🏜️
It's also unbelievably beautiful~
Every real shot looks like it's taken from an oil painting
It's really worth it!!!
I would call it one of the must-see spots in the country~
Singing Sand Bay is divided into two small islands🏝️, Yue Sha Island, sisters who want to see the swimming pool can choose our route, if you have enough time you can go to both, they are not far from each other, and the swimming pool on Yue Sha Island is available for swimming oh~ Next to it, there is also a water amusement park🎠, and you can also ride camels🐫~

🔔Equipment suggestions:
Be sure to protect yourself from the sun, bring a hat, sun protection clothing, mask (there is a lot of sand and wind), swimsuit👙, dry food, water (available on the island, but it is recommended to bring your own)
Kubuqi Desert 🇨🇳 Inner Mongolia
Hiking in the Desert is an experience I'll never forget.
It was as expected ridiculously hot, with almost no shade. The hiking itself is moderately difficult, you'll just need to make sure you carry enough water as there are no vendors until you reach the campsites.
The kit lists you'll be advised to prepare for this kind of tour are completely excessive 🤣. You'll need a pair of hiking shoes, a hat and a load of sun cream (plus your regular travel bag). The guides in our case provided the poles and shoes covers.
For the hike, we put all our bags into the tour bus, which met us later in the evening at the campsite.
In the campsite they had large communal showers, a huge firepit, a 'restaurant' and a small shop to buy drinks, snacks and local alcoholic beverages.
The evening entertainment was a battery powered KTV speaker, Chinese lanterns and a box of fireworks.
A cool trip and a different experience.
🌵Kubuqi Desert in INNER MONGOLIA
This place is probably where I’ve had most fun in all of China! In this area of the Kubuqi Desert you will find 3 main things:
🛏 lodging
🍗 food
🏎 quads
and all of it is absolutely incredible, cost for benefit, entertaining, and relaxing at the same time. Let’s go by parts.
🛏 LODGING
Here there are some containers - yes, actual containers - that have been transformed into nice little rooms. These containers were a 10/10 and so much nicer than other hotels I had paid double the amount for in other cities in Inner Mongolia. The rooms were super clean and tidy, equipped with AC, had a ~huge~ and comfortable bed, nice sheets, an excellent shower with warm water, and even some basic toiletries. They also offered some snacks like instant noodles, cookies, and water for an extra charge. The curtains were black out, so we were able to sleep very well and wake up at a reasonable time the next day. Each night cost around ¥200.
🍗FOOD
A few meters ahead of the container rooms, there is a little central restaurant. I believe it’s family owned, so everyone around is super nice and tried to cater to all our needs. We pre-ordered a lamb leg (typical Inner Mongolia dish) in the afternoon and they would prepare it by dinner time. They had several options for side dishes and although some were out of stock, everything they served was delicious. Reasonable price for a great amount of food. And they also had Wi-Fi there!
🏎QUADS
The best part. You can rent the quads by the hour, but since it was quiet and we were pretty much the only laowais there, the owners were super relaxed about time and just let us have our fun. The reason this was the best part is because as soon as we got on them and asked how far we could go, the owner just said “whatever, have fun”! We were able to drive around the ~huge~ desert area and explore all the hills! It was truly an unforgettable experience and so worth every rmb!
🌟 This is also where I’ve seen the most beautiful, starry night sky in China. It took my breath away and it was refreshing to just take some minutes to lay on the cold sand and observe the sky.

Inner Mongolian Desert
Inner Mongolia was an absolute dream in the dessert. you think you’re going to experience the simplicity of the vast land but of course there’s 1000 different activities to do. we went on rollercoasters, into the water park, slid down sand dunes and rode ATV’s for $7CAD. This adventure was definitely one for the books! 🤟🏽🤟🏽

🎉Don't hesitate. Come to Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, and other places to start your dream journey! ✨
A winter trip to Inner Mongolia is a chance to encounter stunning scenery.
What to do in Hohhot in winter?
When it comes to Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, the first thing that comes to mind is the vast grasslands. It seems that there is nothing to do in winter. Indeed, many scenic spots are closed during this season. What to do? Actually, it's time to try something different! Off-road vehicle routes offer a chance to see many natural wonders, such as snowy volcanoes, the Red Mountain, and the desert. Off-road vehicles can take you through forests and grasslands, skiing, and snowmobiling. These activities are perfect for this winter. There are very few people during this season, so you can have a great experience without going to crowded places like Harbin.
Recommended attractions:
Desert
Many scenic spots are closed, but the Kubuqi Desert and Resonant Sand Gorge are still open in November. You don't have to go to a scenic spot to enjoy the desert. Local tours offer off-road vehicle rides through the desert. This tour includes a four-wheel-drive off-road vehicle that takes you to the wild desert of Longtouguai, deep into the desert, where you can enjoy unlimited sandboarding.
Grassland
The grass in Huitengxile Grassland has turned yellow, and the scenic spot is closed. At this time, local tours can take you through the Huiteng Forest Grassland, a relatively niche area with no entrance fee. It features birch and pine forests, offering a more primitive landscape.
Wulanhada Volcano
Wulanhada Volcano is free all year round. The volcano is black, and its appearance is not affected by the seasons.
Red Mountain
This is not a scenic spot, but a red Danxia landform. The red mountain is perfect for photography, with no filter needed. The road is under construction, so low-chassis cars are not suitable. You need a high-chassis off-road vehicle.
This season is perfect for off-road vehicle tours. You can enjoy many natural landscapes without entrance fees.
❤❤ Food Recommendations 🍛
Pot tea milk tea (salty or sweet), ice-cooked lamb (highly recommended!!), roasted lamb chops, milk skin, stuffed tripe, jiong noodles, handmade old yogurt, freshly roasted beef jerky, sand onion scrambled eggs, lamb skewers, xiguo soup, lamb shumai, yurt cake, etc.
❤❤ Tips
Inner Mongolia is vast and sparsely populated. If you drive or travel independently, it can be difficult to solve any problems that arise. It is recommended to join a reliable local tour group. This way, accommodation, transportation, and tickets are all planned for you. The cost per person is not expensive, and compared to independent travel, it is truly more convenient and cost-effective!

Xiangshawan Lotus Hotel
Xiangshawan, Dalad Banner, Ordos, Inner Mongolia
Lots of fun, like Disneyland in the desert. Entering Xiangshawan is a ritual, the hotel is in the heart of the desert, and you have to cross a seasonal valley in the middle and take a cable car.
Xiangshawan has four main areas: the main hotel, Yuesha Island, Xiansha Island, and the ski resort. As long as you stay at the hotel, all meals and all desert activities are included, so the high room rate is actually quite cost-effective.
From a bird's eye view, it looks like a lotus flower. The facilities are complete, with indoor and outdoor swimming pools. There are plenty of activities for children. There is a large sandy area in the hotel where children can dig in the sand. Indoors, you can play VR, PS, Nintendo, as well as pottery, sand painting, paper cutting, and other handicraft courses.
For children aged 5–10, Xiangshawan offers free childcare services.
In addition to evening parties, bonfires, and fireworks, there are also stargazing events. After all, it is in the heart of the desert, with no light pollution, and as long as it doesn't rain, the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye.

Xiangshawan, Inner Mongolia|It was so fun that kids couldn’t leave.
You must be careful when bringing your children to Xiangshawan, Inner Mongolia, because the children will not want to leave.
⭕️About Xiangshawan
💎There are Lotus and Fusha Hotels in the Xiangshawan Scenic Area. We chose Lotus, and the transportation between Xiansha Island and Yuesha Island is 🆓. Cable cars, off-road vehicles, small trains or desert yachts are all very interesting.
🏨The hotel room is not big, which I expected, but the advantage is that it includes three meals a day, the beef and mutton are delicious, and snacks and soft drinks are always available in the lobby and outdoor play area.
🏜The hotel has VIP access to Xiansha Island. You can ride camels and watch acrobatic performances on Xiansha Island. Children like fruit bug slides, little ladybugs🐞circle cars and internet celebrity trains. The top of Xiansha Island is also very exciting.
🌊Yuesha Island can be regarded as a water park in the desert. There are many kid-friendly projects that children can play. The swimming pool is only 0.3m deep, but 📸it is also very photogenic. There are few people riding camels and the route is long. You can also experience sand painting and pottery
☀️Get a sandboard before sunset and take your children to find a sand slope to slide on and wait for a desert sunset
🔥Go to Chai Feng Camp in the evening to watch the song and dance party and fireworks show. The atmosphere is great and the stargazing activities are also great.
🐎Ordos Grassland: The tour includes a joint ticket, which has 22 entertainment projects. You can experience go-karts, grass skiing, bumper cars on the grassland, and Mongolian-style projects such as sheep catching, horse roping, archery, pot throwing, and Mongolian signatures.
🎯The track for grass skiing is very long, and there are more performances at night. The equestrian drama is very shocking, and the bonfire performance is also very exciting.
🍺The horse-racing banquet for dinner is a special feature. Wear Mongolian costumes and take your children to see the Yuan Dynasty palace banquet.
🌋Ulan Hada Volcano: You can wear spacesuits and take photos at both the No. 3 and No. 6 volcanoes📷. After climbing to the top of No. 5 volcano, you can overlook the grassland, which is very shocking.
🔮Or wearing bright colored clothes will make you stand out. After taking the picture of the spacesuit, the child started to squat down and pick up agates, and he couldn't pull them away.
✅About accommodation
✔Xiangshawan Lotus: The appearance of Lotus is very grand. It is divided into 3 rings and the top floor. The first floor has a full view without any obstruction. Then you can watch the sunset in the Golden Lotus area, the Red Lotus area is suitable for watching the sunrise, and the Purple Lotus area is close to the elevator. close. After taking my children to stay at Zhongwei Desert Star, the attractions here are the highlights.
✔Ordos Yurt: Outside the room is the prairie, not far from restaurants and performances
✔Volcano B&B: Not far from the volcano, you can see the volcano and the starry sky from your room
Two days and one night to experience the charm of Ordos.
🌇 Although it was a rushed business trip, I took the opportunity to experience the unique style of this city. The sky in Ordos is as blue as a sapphire, and the clouds float in the sky like cotton candy. There are vast grasslands, and the blue sky and green land meet, making people feel particularly comfortable.
💖 After work, I went to the Mausoleum of Genghis Khan. A sense of solemnity and solemnity came over me. The buildings here are unique, and the yurt-style palaces are magnificent. The golden glazed tiles shine in the sun. Every building and every cultural relic tells the legendary story of Genghis Khan. This is not just a play, but a dialogue with history.
🌅 The next morning, I was awakened by a ray of sunshine and started a new day of travel. I came to the Xiangshawan Tourist Area, a desert world full of fantasy. As far as the eye can see, the rolling sand dunes shine with golden light in the sun. I experienced the exciting desert motorcycle, and the feeling of speeding made my blood boil. In the melodious sound of camel bells, I felt the tranquility and mystery of the desert.
🥙 In the evening, I took the time to taste the special food of Ordos - hand-held meat. The tender lamb, with its simple cooking method, retains the deliciousness of the meat to the greatest extent. Take a bite, and you will feel full of happiness. Paired with mellow milk tea, the salty and sweet taste dances on the tip of the tongue.
🥰 Although the two-day and one-night trip to Ordos was short, it left a deep impression on me. There are beautiful scenery, delicious food, and enthusiastic people here. I have always been full of longing for Inner Mongolia, longing to gallop on that land and feel the magnificence and freedom of nature. I look forward to starting my trip to Inner Mongolia next time. 💖

Great value for money trip to Inner Mongolia.
I took my parents to Inner Mongolia some time ago🏜. When we first decided to go, we were very happy, but when we were discussing the way to travel, we had some differences.
My parents think self-driving travel is better and saves money; but I think Inner Mongolia has a vast territory and the distances between various scenic spots are not close🚗. Although self-driving travel saves money, it may waste a lot of time and energy because of unfamiliarity with the road conditions.
And I prefer to spend a small amount of money to enjoy the trip and make every penny worth it😎, so although it took some effort later, I successfully persuaded my parents to try a more comfortable and relaxed way of traveling—— 🐬Chartered tour.
We contacted the tour guide in advance and communicated about where we wanted to go and what we wanted to experience. We also specifically explained that we were traveling with our parents this time and hoped that he would take his parents' age into consideration when making plans. My parents and I can not only save time on driving🚗 and doing guides during the trip, but we can also focus more on enjoying the good times during the trip.
The tour guide is worthy of being a tour guide. He clearly arranged the itinerary for this week for us. Taking into account the lack of physical strength of the elderly, he gave us enough rest time at the scenic spots and routes along the way~
Here I highly recommend Xiangshawan to everyone!!!
✨There are two large islands in Xiangshawan: one allows you to experience various sand activities with just a package ticket, and the other has a huge sand mountain that is super photogenic.
The time arranged by the tour guide was very reasonable, just in time to miss the crowds, and we didn't have to suffer from queuing at all. We were also not like many tourists who saw "a sea of people" when they arrived.
There was an episode at Shashan 🔒. The photos my parents took for me really didn’t meet the aesthetics of us young people. They were more or less standard tourist photos. I originally thought I could only take selfies as a souvenir, but the tour guide took the initiative to take the camera and was very skillful. Find the angle and suggest a pose.
I was a little messy at the time, but judging from the professional photography posture of the tour guide, it seemed to be pretty good, so I put it in various poses and took various shots, and the resulting film turned out to be very good, and I basically didn’t need to edit it to post it directly to my friends.
Overall, with the proper arrangements of the tour guide, it was a very enjoyable trip❤️. Even my parents, who initially insisted that self-driving travel was better, praised it 🐬The chartered car tour is great value for money
Inner Mongolia is very good, I will come again next time~
A resort hotel - Lotus Hotel in Resonant Sand Gorge. This hotel is amazing!
Because of its unique geographical location. Check in at the reception center first, and then the staff will deliver the luggage to the room. To enter the desert, first take the cable car, then take a jeep to the hotel. After entering, the staff will give a brief introduction. The hotel is shaped like a lotus, blooming and blooming in the desert. The way to enter is surprising, it's amazing!
The vast desert scenery of Xiangshawan made me feel the magnificence and mystery of nature
🏜️ I thought Zhongwei was already fun until I came here... Xiangshawan in Inner Mongolia 🏜️ is really so much fun.
Although it's very sunny, its beauty is still irresistible!
I've organized the guide, just copy it directly!!!
