Hiking in Birmingham: From City Canals to Moseley Park
#hikingtrails
Starting my hike in the heart of Birmingham, I began along the city’s historic canal network. The tranquil waters of the canals, lined with red-brick buildings and arched bridges, created a serene contrast to the urban hustle. Walking along the towpaths, I enjoyed the peaceful flow of narrowboats and the occasional cyclist or jogger passing by. The canals felt like a hidden oasis within the city, offering a quiet escape as the autumn leaves added golden hues to the scene.
As I ventured further south, leaving the canals behind, I headed towards the vibrant neighborhood of Moseley. The streets, filled with independent cafes and local shops, led me to Moseley Park, a private green space tucked away behind residential streets. Though smaller than the city’s larger parks, Moseley Park has a unique charm with its serene lake, wooded areas, and open lawns. The park is beautifully maintained, and walking through its winding paths beneath the canopy of colorful autumn leaves felt like stepping into a peaceful woodland retreat.
This hike from the industrial beauty of Birmingham’s canals to the leafy tranquility of Moseley Park showcased the city’s perfect balance of urban life and green spaces. It’s an ideal route for those looking to explore the city’s quieter, more natural side, all within a short distance of the bustling city center.

Hidden gem in Birmingham
#summerbankholiday Tucked away in the heart of Birmingham, Winterbourne House and Garden is a hidden gem perfect for a peaceful bank holiday escape. This lesser-known destination offers a tranquil setting away from the usual crowds, making it ideal for a day of relaxation and exploration. As I wandered through the lush gardens, I was struck by the variety of landscapes, from vibrant flower borders to serene water features and shaded, secluded spots. Each section of the garden offered its own unique charm, inviting quiet reflection and a deep appreciation for nature’s beauty.
After a leisurely stroll, I made my way to the tea room within Winterbourne House, where I indulged in a traditional afternoon tea. The setting, overlooking the picturesque gardens, added to the serene atmosphere, making it the perfect place to unwind. The combination of beautifully maintained grounds and the pleasure of a classic British tea made Winterbourne Garden an ideal spot for a restorative bank holiday, offering a refreshing retreat from the city’s hustle and bustle.
🇬🇧Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market🎄
Birmingham's Christmas market is said to be one of the largest German Christmas markets outside of Germany and Austria.
✨From New Street to Victoria Square✨, stalls line up offering traditional German foods and drinks like pretzels, schnitzels, and glühwein!
✅During the Christmas season, Birmingham might be a better place to visit than London. I was not expecting much, but the scale of the market surprised me,,♥️
🥂To promote responsible drinking, alcohol is only sold to those over 25, but they didn't check IDs. Maybe they didn't need to…😅
You can check market information and download maps from the official website.

Weekend Short Trip in Birmingham 🇬🇧
It was a short but sweet weekend trip in Birmingham. We were in a group of four flying from Dublin to Birmingham. The duration of flight was very short. Right after the flight landed, we visited Birmingham New Street. I strongly recommend you to visit the street first as it was very near to train station. The view was just incredible and I love it. Please make sure you visit on other days as the library is definitely worth to visit.

We then spent whole day shopping and chilling around the town. We just love this place and will definitely come back again.

🇬🇧Sacred Urban Splendor⛪️🛐
#timetotravel
⛪️Majestically situated in the heart of Birmingham, St. Paul's Church is an architectural wonder that enchants and inspires anyone who sets foot within its grounds. Its imposing presence on St. Paul's Square makes it a timeless gem in the urban fabric.
I had the privilege of visiting this historic church on a bright autumn morning, and the experience was truly extraordinary. The limestone facade stood with an aura of grandeur, and the ornate entrance beckoned to discover a world of beauty and spirituality.
Once inside, the magnificence of St. Paul's Church emerged in all its glory. The colored stained glass filtered the sunlight, creating a mosaic of colors on the marble flooring. Intricate decorations and frescoes depicting sacred stories stood out against the walls, telling a millennia-old tale of faith and devotion.
The tranquility inside the church was palpable, and I felt enveloped by a sense of peace and reflection. The intricately carved wooden pews invited one to sit and contemplate, and so I did. I closed my eyes and allowed the distant sounds of the organ to fill my soul as I lost myself in my thoughts.
The history of St. Paul's Church is equally fascinating. Learning that this church had withstood fires and wars, preserving its beauty and spiritual significance, added profound meaning to my visit. It was a place that had witnessed generations of believers and visitors, a place that had weathered the storms of time.
In conclusion, my visit to St. Paul's Church was an experience I will never forget. This place is not only an extraordinary example of sacred architecture but also a haven for those seeking tranquility and reflection. It is a monument to beauty and spirituality that can be appreciated by people of all faiths and anyone in search of inspiration. If you find yourself in Birmingham, I highly recommend visiting this remarkable church.#TravelInspiration #birmingham #culturewalk #travel

Curzon Street Station
The station was jointly built and operated by the London and Birmingham Railway (L&BR) and the Grand Junction Railway (GJR), being the meeting point between the two railways, as well as the terminus for the first intercity line to be built into London. As such, it served as a joint terminus for the scheduled passenger trains of both companies to major destinations such as London, Manchester and Liverpool, between 1838 and 1854. It was formally opened on 24 June 1838, and received its first train from London on 17 September of that year. Being incapable of permitting through trains, it quickly proved to be inadequate even after expansion efforts to accommodate longer trains. Thus, during the 1840s, the newly-created Midland Railway opted to build a larger and more suitable station, Birmingham New Street, half a mile away from the earlier station that would take over most of its passenger traffic in 1854.
During the 1850s, Curzon Street station found a new role handling freight traffic; conversion work was undertaken between 1860 and 1965 to turn it into a dedicated goods station. In addition, limited passenger traffic, such as special excursion trains, called at that station up until its closure to passengers in 1893. It was heavily used for railway freight into the British Rail era, only being closed to rail-based goods traffic in 1966. Many original features were demolished at this time, such as the platforms and trainshed, but the principal entrance building survived and was given Grade I listed status. While much of the site continued to be used for road-based parcel traffic, the principal building was used as office space for various purposes, including the occasional art event. During the 2010s, it was announced that the site and the principal building would be reused and integrated into the new Birmingham Curzon Street railway station, and host the high speed services on High Speed 2.[1]

It was a lovely and sunny day to visit Birmingham. For a day trip, I had a chance to walk around city center and enjoy the food and drinks. In the morning time, it was a bit chilly but luckily sunny for afternoon time. When I arrived to Birmingham New Street Train station 🚉, I headed to Birmingham Town Hall 🏛️, and Birmingham Library📚. Then I walked through the Birmingham canal 🏞️ and taken a photo on love lock bridge 🌉. For food and drinks, I've been two different spots of Wetherspoon, but The Briar Rose was one of the most beautiful wetherspoon place I've ever been so far.
