Perfect cone-shaped volcano - Mayon

It was my childhood dream to witness Mayon’s glory in flesh and not in postcards and history books anymore. Though it wasn’t my first time to see Mayon as I’ve already seen her before when we passed by Tabaco while we were on our way to visit our relatives in Catanduanes way back 2007, but it was my first time to see her from Cagsawa Ruins Park. Entrance fee: ₱10 Viewing Mt. Mayon from Cagsawa Ruins Park creates a different atmosphere compared to other spots. Once you see the Cagsawa Church’s bell tower, you will automatically imagine how disastrous it became when it erupted more than 200 years ago. The eruption buried the church by rocks and lava, leaving only a potion of the bell tower. #maydaytrip #urbanexplorer

Trip to Legazpi, Philippines 🇵🇭

It was a trip to Legazpi, Philippines. When we visited Legazpi recently and our first stop was Cagsawa Ruins Park. A must-see for its iconic view of the majestic Mayon Volcano 🌋The best time to visit is early morning, around ⏰ 6:00–8:00 AM, when the skies ⛅️ are clear, and Mayon’s perfect cone is fully visible. We captured stunning photos of the ruins with the volcano as a backdrop 📸 Walking around, we felt the history of the site, which was once a church destroyed by a volcanic eruption. Truly, this is a photographer’s paradise! 📍Cagsawa Ruins Park, Daraga, Albay, Philippines We also explored Lignon Hill Nature Park, a perfect spot for panoramic views of Legazpi City and the Mayon Volcano. The late afternoon ⏰ 4:00–5:00 PM was ideal for photography as the golden hour bathed the scenery in warm, beautiful light 🌅 We also tried the zip line here, which added an adventurous touch to our visit. Afterward, we headed to the Mayon Skyline View Deck for another breathtaking angle of the volcano. The serenity of the place and the chance to take unobstructed shots made it worth the trip. 📍Lignon Hill Nature Park, Bogtong, Legazpi City, Albay, Philippines We also highly recommend visiting Sumlang Lake, where we took postcard-worthy photos of Mayon reflected in the calm waters. Renting a bamboo raft added a unique touch to our pictures. We arrived in the morning to avoid crowds and capture the serene morning light. Afterward, we ventured to Quitinday Green Hills, often compared to Bohol’s Chocolate Hills. The rolling green landscapes with Mayon in the distance gave us some of our favorite shots from the trip😍😍😍 📍Camalig, Albay, Philippines Address (Quitinday Green Hills): Ilawod, Camalig, Albay, Philippines Lastly , we visited the historic Daraga Church, which has a perfect vantage point for a classic Mayon backdrop. We recommend going around ⏰ 8:00–9:00 AM when the light is soft, highlighting the intricate baroque architecture. Later in the afternoon, we strolled along Legazpi Boulevard, where the coastal views and vibrant sunsets were unforgettable. Amazing stay for great prices . Breakfast was ok! The pool was nice and it is very close to the central part of Legazpi. Overall Legazpi is a very nice city with access to Sorsogon Bulusan, Mayon and other amazing places. Further to this tobacco is close by if you fancy a ferry ride to Catanduanes.. Watch for typhoon announcements though. This period of the year it is quite frequent

Off the Beaten Path in the Philippines: Legazpi & Mayon Volcano

This was a spontaneous trip. I hadn't been to the Philippines for a long time, and this time I decided not to go diving in Bohol, but to take a different route. So I chose a less popular route: Puerto Galera - Legazpi - Mayon Volcano. I had planned to continue, but a typhoon 🌀 forced me to turn back... The weather wasn't great this time, so the photos aren't very clear, and the visibility underwater was also very low. Please bear with me, and I'll take better photos next time! 1. Public Transportation There are no direct flights from China to Legazpi, so you need to transfer in Manila or Cebu. I recommend Manila - Legazpi - Cebu, so you don't have to backtrack. The airport in Legazpi is called "Bicol International Airport," located in Daraga, right at the foot of the volcano. It takes about 30 minutes by taxi from the airport to downtown Legazpi. 2. City Transportation There are three main options: Taxi, Tricycle, and Jeepney. - Jeepney: No fixed stops, suitable for locals. Tourists are advised to choose the other two options. - Car: It's easy to call a car through Grab. Taxis are easy to find in the city, but not so much in the suburbs or scenic areas, where you'll need to take a Tricycle. - Tricycle: They can take you anywhere, and can fit 4 people if you squeeze in. 3. Accommodation The local brand hotels are a bit old and not very cost-effective. The locals are warm and simple, so homestays are also a good choice. I recommend staying in the city center, where there are more supermarkets and restaurants to choose from, and it's more convenient to get around.

Getting There - we rented a van to tour around the Bicol’s many attraction sites. Attractions - Bicol’s Chocolate Hills! Hotels - there are no hotels (as far as I know) near the area. Better to stay at the city center. Food & Restaurants - there’s a cute cafe located inside where the coffee is more than enough to give you energy for the hike. Shopping - there are small quaint stores for you to buy a little something to bring home. #bicol #philippines #travel #legazpi
