Right in the centre of Gran Via. Next to Ray Ban and Zara store. Perfect base. 001 bus from Madrid train station stops in front of the hotel and the metro stop Gran Via Callelllo stop is in front of the hotel.
The facilities are cleaned regularly. Each room has an A&C or fan. The WiFi is also very strong. A really good hotel with great facilities and affordable.

This was my second stay at this hostel and it's still amazing. One of the best hostels I have stayed at in Europe. It is well located - right off the Mayor Plaza. Close to bus routes and not too far from the subway.
The hostel staff are super friendly and always available - 24hr front desk. They are hapy to have a chat with you and make recommendations and give advice - or just sing along to whatever is playing from the bar. They weresuper gracious and helped to arrange my friends and I in the same room - even though we all had individual bookings.
The rooftop is excellent. We spent several siesta's up there; reading and chatting and having a drink. Just note that the rooftop bar is a public space and at times sections of it are booked for events. But otherwise the view of the rooftops and the church dome are worth it.
The rooms are spacious enough, as is the private bathroom. There are additional bathrooms on each floor - gendered. The bunk ladders are a little steep on the steps - my shorter friend struggled getting up to her bunk - we had to use the foot stool to assist. But the ability to have two people using the bathroom in the room at a time made for easy use - especially with only 6 people in our dorm.
The free margarita making each night from 9pm and the bar crawl are worth checking out. My friend also also did the walking tour - and said she found it super informative and. chill. Lots of food recommendations and the group all grabbed lunch together after the tour.

Superb location if you’re looking to catch a train “going anywhere” in Spain. Prado, Parque Retiro, Corte Inglés, Cibeles’ Circle, all a short walking distance.
Important reminder: The hotel room had absolutely nothing, it was incredibly basic, far exceeding expectations! There wasn't even any drinking water! The only good thing about this hotel is its proximity to the airport; otherwise, it has no redeeming qualities whatsoever!
The room was spacious and tidy, with modern and complete facilities. The free Wi-Fi signal wasn't very stable. This place is only suitable for a temporary stay if you have an early flight! Avoid this place.
The 24-hour front desk staff were super enthusiastic, patiently and meticulously answering questions about directions and solving problems.
Comfortable bed to sleep in but the framing jutted out, which we did bump into. The AC, tv, and fridge worked well. The hotel's facilities were good. Excellent restaurant and bar. Each floor was designed differently, which was interesting to see. The room itself was a bit stylish but not so practical. I was a bit scared the toilet was going to come off the wall every time I used it. The glass door for the shower did not close all the way. The lighting for the bathroom mirror was not great, so applying makeup was an issue. Hair dryer was bad, so we didn't use it.

The hotel looks a bit dated when you walk inside , the lobby is really just a tiny corner.
The receptionists are always very nice and helpful.
The room decoration has a bit of a weird vibe, so don’t hold too much expectation.
Overall it’s clean and close to everything.
Excellent! The hotel is located on the territory of the abbey. Everything deserves high marks. Thought out to the smallest detail. Bed linen, cosmetics in the rooms. Large rooms. The staff is very polite. The hotel has a spa. The main attractions are 2 minutes away
Location not so easy have to use bus and change to subway coz the nearest subway station close. The hotel name and the booking name is a bit different. Still plenty transport options but a bit wasted our multicard due to transport
Very Good

Great
NNo sugar ,but coffeeThe room was clean and tidy. The breakfast spread was extensive, with options catering to Chinese palates, including local fried dough sticks (youtiao) and dumplings, all of which tasted great. There was also a wide selection of fresh fruit. The only minor downside was the typical European hotel amenity setup – no complimentary toothbrushes, toothpaste, or slippers provided in the room. The location is also excellent, right next to Retiro Park and the Prado Museum.
JJ & AGood location from Madrid Pta Atocha station, excellent for train transfers, both metro and high speed rail. Easy to find cabs, uber, or walk ~20mins to most tourist attractions. Has lots of restaurants nearby.
The hotel also has a restaurant and room service for dining in. Super clean, and the room is spacious and comfortable.
AAnonymous UserWe had a wonderful stay in Crowne Plaza Centew Retiro. Few min walk to Metro. Ginos restaurant and VIPS restaurant are opposite to the hotel and closed at midnight. The junior suite was great with a King bed and a double sofa bed which are big enough for a family of 4. The hotel provided welcome drinks and snacks in the bar. Free Illy coffee capsules and cookies in the room. The minibar in the junior suite was fully stocked and complimentary. All staff are friendly and nice. Thanks Nuria Pastor and your team for the arrangement which made our journey so special. We would definitely recommend our friends to stay here. The hotel was connected with Voco. We also booked buffet breakfast in Voco hotel with kid price EUR15 and Adult EUR 19. Great variety of food and drinks.
RrhumanFabulous hotel! Service was excellent throughout the hotel including reception, concierge, restaurant/bar, housekeeping. When we checked in, the concierge was able to make a reservation on the spot for us at a very popular restaurant in Madrid!
GGuest UserPretty crowded sometimes but I could work and sleep without any problem. My only concern was that AC didn't work at all, sometimes was pretty hot.

GGuest UserFor a day or two, the location is more than enough to get around, but it is not recommended for people with conditions or for children either, much less for older people, thanks.
GGuest UserThe apartment was hugely overpriced.
The location is nowhere near the plush area of Retiro as suggested by the apartment description.
The apartments are tiny with no natural light. They are very dark and depressing.
The water takes a long long time to heat up.
There has been money wasted on fancy bathroom sinks and wooden floors when comfort should be the number one priority.
The beds are really terrible and really hard. I developed back and shoulder pain within a few hours of trying to sleep on the bed.
The human spine is S shaped and if you lie on a decent bed your shoulder and hip should sink into the mattress. This offers vital comfort and support.
The pillows are really cheap and uncomfortable and in the two upstairs apartments you can hear the people in the next room loud and clear.
The equipment in the kitchen is very restricted.
Not enough knives and forks and the cutlery provided is not suitable. Steak knives all two of them to spread butter!!!
Nothing to cut loaves or other food stuffs.
Half a tea towel and no kitchen towel which is not practical to buy for a 1-3 night stay.
Two toilet rolls, not enough for a 3 person stay.
Considering the extortionate price charged for the tiny so called Junior Suite, the owner should have provided more comfort and facilities and the beds are truly terrible and lack of sound proofing being able to hear my neighbours farting was pretty awkward.
However, the lady on Reception Mayumi was absolutely wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble for her.
She was kind and considerate and a real asset to the company.
The male members of staff were not remotely helpful whoever they were.
Not a place I would recommend and certainly not at that price with beds that feel like you are sleeping on the floor with a sheet and pillow!
LLorenaMolineroThe place is wonderful, clean, well equipped, easy check-in, next to Atocha, super spacious… well decorated… we loved the detail that it had a washing machine and clothesline! It has been a very good experience and both my daughter and I loved it!
MMrWong888After traveling extensively in China, returning to Spain highlighted some noticeable differences, particularly in Madrid. While the city and its infrastructure may feel a bit outdated compared to other global hubs, the Hotel Madrid Chamartín Affiliated by Meliá was a decent and comfortable place to stay.
The hotel’s location is its strongest feature—it’s directly across from Chamartín Train Station and its adjacent subway station. While the train station and subway facilities are not the most modern or impressive, the convenience of being so close to transportation hubs is a definite plus. The street leading to the hotel is a bit unusual, set on a slope, but it’s manageable.
The room was clean and functional, though slightly dated. The beds were comfortable, albeit with older spring mattresses that could use an upgrade. Despite the slightly worn feel, the room provided a comfortable space to rest after a day of exploring or work.
The standout feature of this hotel was undoubtedly the breakfast. It was absolutely amazing, with a wide variety of fresh and delicious options that catered to different tastes. It was easily the highlight of my stay and set a great tone for the day.
The service was also pleasant and friendly, which is a nice touch, especially given the sometimes lackluster service standards in Spain. The staff were helpful and made the stay more enjoyable.
Overall, while the Hotel Madrid Chamartín Affiliated by Meliá may not be the most modern or luxurious option, it offers good value for its location, a comfortable stay, and an exceptional breakfast. If you’re looking for a convenient and reliable place to stay near Chamartín Station, this hotel is a solid choice.
