The high temperatures persisted, so we came to Changbai Mountain to escape the heat and stayed at the Yunshuilanting Hotel. Upon check-in, Manager Dong, knowing we were two seniors over 70, provided us with the warmest service imaginable. She patiently explained the surrounding area, important considerations, and evening activities, and even brought us local seasonal blueberries. It felt like home, with the warmth of children around us. Despite it being peak tourist season and the hotel being fully booked, the cleanliness and dining were still top-notch. Of all the places we've stayed in Changbai Mountain over the past few days, this was by far the best experience. Manager Dong is an excellent leader, managing an outstanding service team.

My butler, Xiaoman, was excellent. September was the super low season, and the entire resort was deserted, very quiet. The best part about the suite was the kitchen, fully equipped with tableware and cookware, just missing seasonings—perfect for us older folks. We came from the North Slope and bought some groceries in Erdaobaihe to cook ourselves, and even a watermelon. The perks supposedly only applied once regardless of how many nights, but the butler extended it, so we got to take the cable car both days. Other perks were more than we could use. The age restrictions for the perks were strictly enforced; we older folks couldn't sneak onto the slides or go-karts. During the low season, the suite building didn't offer breakfast, so we had to go to Jinhua, which shows how few people there were. Breakfast was quite simple, no ham or cheese, not even as good as a four-star hotel. The pool was great.

An absolutely wonderful stay! This is definitely the top choice for the Changbai Mountain North Slope. It's incredibly close to the entrance gate, so you can just walk in without needing to go to the transfer center. The hotel facilities are excellent, and all the staff are exceptionally warm and attentive. Seeing we had two babies, they kindly upgraded us to a family room for free, which the children absolutely loved. Our butler was available 24/7, always ready to answer any questions with patience and thoughtfulness. The hotel's hot springs are also fantastic, with both indoor and outdoor pools at different temperatures offering a great experience. Five stars all around! Highly recommend!

SONG JIANG BONANZA WINNING HOTEL — From Smoke Signals to Sacred Silence Arrival & First Sniff This old dog finally flopped down in Jilin City, relieved to rest my paws at the grandly named Song Jiang Bonanza Winning Hotel. “Winning,” I thought—until my non-smoking room greeted me with a stale tobacco haze. One whiff and I nearly cancelled the stay on the spot. Room Rescue Cue Mr Hong Dejian—calm, English-speaking, and clutching the keys to redemption. He patiently showed me alternative rooms until we found one that didn’t smell like a poker night. Had I left, I would’ve missed what came next. Comfort Food = Home Dinner delivered a miracle: stewed chicken with potatoes and mushrooms. One bite and—boom—mummy’s cooking. After days on the road, I finally found food in China that tasted like home. Tail wagging resumed. Care Beyond the Call Mr Hong returned with a portable heater, pointed out city landmarks, and even taught me how to take a non-reflective photo (yes, this dog learns fast). His easy friendliness softened the edges of dirty window panes and mostly Mandarin-only staff. I even showed him the ink-black towel after wiping the window—evidence, not barking. Menu Meltdown & A Win At the restaurant, I was handed a Chinese-only menu after saying I don’t speak Mandarin. I hit the roof. To their credit, reception listened: I received a call from the lady boss, and the issue was acknowledged. Then a hero appeared—the restaurant lady, who patiently translated dish names so I could choose lunch and dinner without guesswork. Gold bone earned. City Interlude: Jilin Catholic Church Between meals and meetings, I visited Jilin Catholic Church (吉林耶稣圣心堂)—a quiet pause from hotel hiccups. The church offered a moment of stillness, a reminder that even on a bumpy stay, the city holds pockets of grace. Logistics That Worked Back at the desk, the reception lady manager efficiently arranged my transport to Wusong Island—quick, competent, and reassuring. Breakfast & The Fine Print Breakfast surprised me in the best way: healthy, balanced, a thoughtful mix of local and Western dishes. One final bone to chew—early booking didn’t pay off as prices dropped later. A truly Winning Hotel would honour the lower rate at check-in. Verdict Despite communication bumps, this is a solid winter hideout: good Songhua River views, comforting food, and fast service when it counts. This time, I was traveling with friends, and after carefully reading reviews, I chose Sheraton. It lived up to its reputation for quality. To our pleasant surprise, all three rooms were upgraded! Our butler, Xiao Ying, demonstrated exceptional service from the moment we checked in at the front desk. She answered all our questions, and when there was a noise issue with the air conditioning in one room, she promptly arranged a room change. We're very grateful! The breakfast was extensive, and everyone loved the pickled vegetable and pork buns…

The owner was very hospitable, and there were always drivers available at the entrance who were ready to answer any questions or help with travel plans. The aunties at the hot springs were also very warm and helped with towels. The indoor bath was cleaned daily, and overall, everything was quite good. The only issue was that the toilet wasn't clean upon check-in, but the front desk attendant came quickly to address it. Overall, it was a good experience, and I recommend it.

I'm a british traveller with a Chinese wife. I'm mostly located in China and I speak the language. Hunchun is near to Russia and most of the guests were Russian. Some of the staff can speak a few words of Russian but not much. And no English! The Hotel itself is modern, clean and very technically equipped. The toilet seat is heated, and it flushes itself. The shower took a bit of working out, but once I had mastered it, it was possibly the best shower I'd had in years. The shower is partitioned from the rest of the toilet, which isn't always the case in China. There's an AI person who greets you in Chinese when you enter, but we couldn't work out what the purpose of this was. It didn't understand English and my wife couldn't get a lot of sense out of it in Chinese. But everything else worked, including the curtains which opened and closed remotely. The TV was large and of an excellent quality. The bed was firm, but not hard like some Chinese beds can be, and we slept very comfortably. The breakfast was OK, but nothing special. My wife and I are diabetic, so we avoid sweet things. Although there was plenty of meat, vegetables and eggs to keep us going for the day, there was only sweetened coffee, sweetened milk tea and I think sweetened soy milk, in the drinks machine. We managed to get plain hot water out of the machine, but there was only paper cups provided, which was a disappointment considering the price we'd paid and the excellent standard of everything else. I would suggest a coffee machine and milk available at breakfast, and maybe a hot water urn and some tea bags. And some proper cups! I think a place of such good quality deserves a bit more of a variety of food. It was OK, but not great. Disappointing. For people on a low budget (like we were) one should bear in mind that the location isn't very central and it's a bus ride and a 25 minute walk, from the high speed rail station. Taxis are not very expensive but we don't have much money so we got local buses which are not very frequent. So I consider the location to be the most disappointing aspect of this hotel. Everything else was either fine, or excellent. We would definitely consider going there again in the future. It was also the only hotel that has allowed us the late checkout which I've been promised by Trip.com. Thank you!

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel! The service is great, and the water heater has enough power for a bath without any struggles. The interior design is very exotic for Asia and provides a great experience for travellers who are looking for something new. I highly recommend this place!

The B&B is located within a resort complex, similar to Aranya. There are plenty of dining options, activities, and small shops. Private cars aren't allowed inside. We added a customer service representative named Lili on WeChat in advance, and communication via WeChat was very convenient. They offered pick-up and drop-off services from the station and the distribution center, and they arranged everything perfectly for us. The North Gate is only a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel. The East Gate is a bit further to walk, but there's a shuttle car available for pick-up and drop-off. The driver, Mr. Zhang, would always chat with us and even helped with our luggage. The place itself is very clean, and tidying was prompt. There was a good variety for breakfast, and after eating, we went straight to Heavenly Lake. The cleaning staff were always friendly and greeted us. When we checked out, we arranged for station drop-off, which was great.

The bunk beds alone deserve a perfect score! No child can resist them. They even provide bed rails. The hotel lobby has toys, so waiting for the shuttle isn't boring. Plus, the shuttles are frequent and the signs are clear. While Songguoli is a bit far from the commercial street, the shuttle service makes it acceptable, and the price is much cheaper than hotels near the commercial street, offering great value for money. The complimentary activities were also generous. We had two adults and two children, and even though one child wasn't tall enough for some activities, they let the older child play twice, which was very thoughtful. The hotel concierge was also very responsive. The evening firework show was absolutely beautiful! Highly recommended! The other performances were also good. I prefer it here over Wanda. The shuttle buses are more frequent, making for a better experience.
