"A beautiful Chinese courtyard-style house with a charming rose garden, this stay was truly unforgettable. Our hosts, May and David, went above and beyond to make our visit to the Great Wall and our time in China as perfect as possible. They booked our entry tickets, guided us through the process at the ticket booth, and shared invaluable tips on using Chinese apps, something that was especially helpful since this was our very first hotel in China.
May’s homemade rose tea and the delicious home-cooked meals prepared by David’s father were full of flavor and warmth. From the moment we booked about a month in advance, May stayed in contact with us, offering advice and assistance with apps and logistics. She and David also arranged a cab for us to the Water Great Wall and back to our hotel in the city, making everything seamless.
More than just wonderful hosts, they have become good friends. We still keep in touch, and even now while we are in Guangzhou, they continue offering advice whenever we need it. For anyone new to China, this is not just the best place to stay, it’s also a connection to kind-hearted people who make your journey truly special."

Surroundings
The east wall of Great Wall Box Home is the Great Wall, and you can see the nearby beacon tower from the courtyard. There are four sections of the Great Wall nearby: Panlong Mountain, Wohu Mountain, Simatai and Jinshanling. It takes only ten minutes by car to reach the Jiangnan-style Gubeikou Water Town and Simatai Great Wall. You can also hike to Jinshanling Great Wall, and we provide detailed hiking routes and maps. There is a children's playground and Gubeikou Forest Park for camping and hiking within 2-3 kilometers of the inn. There are also several temples with a history of nearly a thousand years and a newly built Great Wall Anti-Japanese War Museum (opening hours subject to specific notice) in the area.
"Rachel is by far the best hostel host I’ve ever had. Staying here felt more like staying with a friend. She picked me up from the train station and even stopped at the market so I could pick up snacks for my hike. After arriving at the hostel she helped me organize my hike on the wall and gave me suggestions for watching the sunset. She also brought me to the wall and picked me up at the end point which saved me the trouble of having to find transportation on my own. My experience hiking the wall was made so easy thanks to Rachel! Would highly highly recommend! Plus they served a delicious home cooked vegetarian meal served family style with the other guests which added to the homey feel of the hostel and was perfect after a long day of hiking.
Also the cats are the fluffiest, friendliest cats you will ever meet! Huge plus!"

"Great location, easy walkable access to Badaling Cable Car in the morning, and little wait time. There is a restaurant next to the inn for a very simple breakfast. They have a courtyard with a swing and outdoor seating where you can chill at night. There weren't that many lights, so it was a bit dark, though. Basically, I recommend staying here for a convenient location. Definitely a old hotel, so don't expect anything from the room. They provide basic amenities. Not the cleanest and room smelled like cigarettes, but it was fine for one night and the price."

"Hands down, this is the best guesthouse for visiting the Badaling Great Wall. We took a quick taxi ride right to the scenic area entrance. The owner was also incredibly welcoming and gave us excellent advice on the most convenient way to get to the Great Wall."

"The room is clean and tidy, a family of three is very comfortable.
The only thing that can be improved is that the door of the room is a bit wrinkled. We who live at the stairs will always be woken up by the sound of new guests closing the door at night, but everything is very pleasant.
It is very close to the Great Wall and the zoo, and it costs only 8 yuan or 9 yuan to call Didi. The proprietress is beautiful and generous. Every time I go out to play, I will not take the initiative to drive us there. I am really embarrassed to trouble her, and I come back by Didi every time.
Leaving the Great Wall and going back to downtown Beijing, the beautiful Banniang drove us to the 919 express bus station, which was so convenient.
Thank you, the journey was very pleasant, and I hope to have a chance to come to our beautiful Datong to play!"

GGuest UserWe booked two queen-size rooms, which were located in a large studio, equivalent to two bedrooms and a living room. It was very convenient. Right outside, there's a river and scenic spots. We were here with our children for a competition. Winter is not much to do outside, but there's a post house just down the road filled with stray cats, which the children spent a good day playing with. Summer is even better. It's very close to Hongluo Temple.

AAnonymous UserYou can park in the yard, but there is a barbecue stove next to the parking lot. After the barbecue at night, the car was covered with oil and charcoal ash. The self-service car wash in the city did not wash it off.
Is the shower shared by several rooms? There is a bathtub and I wanted to use it. I put a foot-deep bath in it, and the hot water became 35°, and it didn't heat up for an hour. What's outrageous is that it kept dropping to 23°.
The middle of the bed was basically collapsed. I rolled to the middle while sleeping. I felt that I was exerting force when I slept, and I felt pain all over my body when I got up.

李李Great homestay, the building is very new, the room is very clean, the facilities are complete, the bed is very big and comfortable, the bath hot water is very good, the surrounding air, the mountains, the vegetation is very good! 1. We have a courtyard, the space is really big, the big yard, the big kitchen, the big activity room, the big rooftop, the 5 adults and children are not crowded at all! 2. You can think of everything from ovens to ovens to gas stoves to refrigerators to kitchens, arcade games, karaoke machines, mahjong machines, drinking machines, chopsticks, tea sets and so on. 3. Fast and convenient, except for check-in strictly according to the epidemic prevention requirements, other check-in and departure of the store is not delayed for one minute. 4. The boss's little sister is very good. I know where to order food and go up the mountain. I know that we have to prepare carbon with kebabs, afraid that we can't drink well water and have a lot of mineral water. In short, this homestay is excellent in all aspects of Beijing!
