We arrived mid Saturday afternoon and were allocated a room on the third floor with no offer of help to take our cases up the stairs. We crossed the road to the pool area where we enjoyed a Chicken Wrap and Coffee, this we were to discover was the highlight of our short stay. The room we were allocated wasn't dirty but wasn't clean either. The shower curtain was just a piece of material hanging from a rail, both had seen better days, there was nowhere to hang the actual shower head from and my partner and myself had to take it in turns to hold it over each others head. The bedding was clean but was grey, whereas the mattress although comfortable must have been in place since the hotel was built. One of the chairs on the balcony had a broken seat. On the Sunday morning, we discovered that the cooked breakfast was cold, not one of the items was even warm! After going on a short walk and seeing two other hotels in the area we decided whatever the cost we would check out of the Porto Koukla Beach and spend the rest of our holiday at one of them. We explained to the girl on reception that we intended to check out and explained why, after settling up all we got from her was "Goodbye" not even trying to make amends.

Nice hotel, shame about the food. Cooked breakfast is stone cold, all week. Evening dinner is only warm, and some meals are not properly cooked. If you like the sound of local dogs barking, this is the place, every afternoon and evening. If you haven't got transport, then your stuck with it.

I had a fantastic stay at this lovely family-run hotel! The staff was friendly and attentive, thanks to them we also used their boat offer - excellent experience! The food was excellent, with a great variety of dishes to choose from. The view from the hotel was absolutely stunning, making my stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Katastrophales Hotel .

Service 5/5 Location 5/5, Beach Bar Food 5/5, Breakfast and Dinner 2/5. Beach 3/5 - nowhere to sit or sunbathe (the photos are misleading) but good for swimming/snorkelling and the water is shallow for a long time so feels very safe. I travelled here in July 2024 with a friend. The hotel is lovely and the reception staff in particular were amazing. Johanna (I think the name is correct) helped us with everything to make us more comfortable and to meet our needs (e.g. needing a mini fridge for medicines and getting us more pillows for our comfort). Also my friend needed medical treatment and Joanna helped us to call an ambulance and get her to a hospital. We were so grateful for her help and advice, thank you Johanna. Accessibility was good, we had a ground floor room and the pool / breakfast and dinner area are all on one level without stairs. The lunch / beach bar was down one lot of stairs and the sea is accessed by going down a few more steps, but in total we managed OK (we both have health conditions and took it slow). Air con was free and worked really well and our room stayed cool. The views from the hotel were incredible! Eating and sitting there watching the sea was amazing. I wish I had eaten more at the lunch bar, because the one meal I had there was really nice. Unfortunately the breakfasts were a bit average and dinner was also a bit disappointing / average and there were flies around the food which was a bit off-putting, however, for the price we paid for the hotel (such a low price) I feel that it was OK enough. I enjoyed snorkelling casually in the sea and even saw a turtle only 20m from the shore (apparently this is not common though and best to go on a trip to turtle island or other islands). I will say, the photos of the beach were misleading. The hotel uses photos for advertising showing a decent amount of sandy beach with sun loungers, but this is not there. The sea begins immediately at the bottom of the stairs, I think the photos must be old. For me this was not a problem as I just wanted to snorkel, but I can imagine some people being sad about not being able to sunbathe on the sandy beach. There is a mini-mart a 6 minute walk away which sells a variety of snacks, tourist items and many drinks, and there are 2-3 restaurants on the way to the mini-mart too. Getting a taxi was difficult sometimes so I recommend asking reception for the number of a trustworthy company, something we forgot to do. Overall I give it 4/5 only knocking 1 off for the breakfast/dinner. I would definitely visit again!
