Swan Hotel

Lovely hotel, nice clean recently refurbished rooms. The bar area is not very big but the atmosphere is really nice. Lots of locals using it. Down side was there was a large TV on the wall, which is fine left on if anyone was actually watching it. Food was good. The staff friendly and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone. I would certainly go back.

Poor service was due to the team looking like they didn't want to be there, not interested in what we needed, lack of attention. They really let down the whole experience. We ate in the restaurant one night and while the food was delicious and hot, it was let down by the poor very slow service. Had to wait ages for drinks, the young server propped himself up on the post staring around the room while he took our order, we had to call him to get more drinks. I'm thankful we didn't ask for variations of the meal because I would have no confidence he'd relay it correctly. Other diners experienced the same slow to take and deliver orders as we did. Food reasonably priced. Had the vegetable tagine and husband had the Goan curry, both full of flavor and hot. Liked the British tapas options as appetizers. Eat elsewhere if service is important. Falcon steakhouse was brilliant. Stayed in room 9 but had booked room 8 but due to issues taking payment 7 days before arrival they had unreserved the room allowing it to be booked by another guest. Not impressed as I had called and received assurances my reservation was ok. Again, poor service. Room 9 was however, very nice, spacious with King bed. On the back of hotel so quiet. Despite the in room info book saying there wasn't wifi, there was but it took for me to ask at reception to be advised what the code was and even the original person had to go and ask someone Breakfast is pathetic, a very light continental as described. The service on all aspect was sub standard but dinner and room excellent

Excellent facilities, great service and food. Really useful for small private conference facilities and no expensive parking charges to pay as good parking availability in the village. Would highly recommend and will be using in the future.

Booked for Sunday Lunch 12.00pm… the restaurant started filling up very quickly , by the time we left it was full . Quick service , great staff , food very tasty Love the atmosphere in The Swan , both in the restaurant and in the bar . Staff always friendly , great local place to meet up

Beautiful room in an historic old building. It’s in the centre of the town and close to many amenities. It had some nice reception areas including a well stocked bar. The room was well equipped. The en suite had a good shower and the toilet was in an alcove behind the shower and wash basin which is convenient for couples. We could hear noise from other rooms but only what could be expected in such an old building. It did not disturb at night and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly but we found the food service incredibly slow. Lunch and breakfast both disappointing. The evening meal was OK but my request for after dinner coffee was declined due to the time and then my order for tea was forgotten. My daughter in law tried to shower during the day and the electricity meter ran out and she was plunged into darkness while wet. Management acted immediately but it was a 15 minute wait. I’d recommend the hotel but not necessarily the food service.

Fantastic Sunday lunch. We had lovely beef and chicken with lots of vegatables, cauliflower cheese was also included. There was more than we could manage, so overall its great value. The service was excellent and we will definitely return. Highly recommended.
