Our recent experience at this Travelodge has been profoundly disappointing. I would like to express my deep dissatisfaction with the lack of empathy and professionalism demonstrated by the staff, which turned an already difficult situation into an unnecessarily bad experience. To provide some context, my partner—who has been working tirelessly through a difficult period and enduring significant lack of sleep —was driving to the next job late at night, exhausted, and putting at risk himself and others on the road. Concerned for his safety, I advised him to stop at the nearest Travelodge to rest, taking advantage of the staff discount as i receive being a Travelodge employee, which this was intended not only to ensure his safety but also to manage expenses as we prepare for the Christmas holiday. Unfortunately, upon his arrival, the staff refused to allow him to check in, citing a policy requiring the staff member using the discount to be present at check-in. I immediately contacted the hotel to explain the situation, informing them that I would arrive within a few hours to resolve the issue. My intention was to surprise my partner and provide some support during this difficult time. However, my explanation was met with suspicion and dismissive comments, including one staff member audibly remarking, “I bet she will not show up.” This lack of trust and empathy was deeply hurtful. Not only was my partner forced to pay extra to stay the night—a financial strain we had hoped to avoid—It was evident that the staff's behaviour demonstrated a total disrespect for human kindness and empathy. The situation made both of us feel humiliated and devalued, leaving me feeling powerless to support my partner in a moment of need. Well, the hotel itself met the basic expectations of a two-star budget accommodation. I sincerely hope that those responsible reflect on this incident and come to understand the importance of empathy and compassion when dealing with others. No one should be made to feel the way we were that night. I strongly advise others looking into different options, such as Airbnb, to prevent having a similar experience.

This lovely traditional hotel sits on the sea front located near to the beach restaurants and town. There can be some noise from the road and the floors and bathroom extractor fans are quite noisy. Staff were very polite and helpful. We were able to take our dog into our room and breakfast once ordered taken to our room to eat.
