The Punchbowl Inn

Great local Inn to stay at in Woodstock. Friendly staff, good food, convenient parking, and nice room. It is in the center of town with lots of local restaurants and pubs to choose from nearby. The breakfast was also very good. Very much recommended.

We stayed 1 night and had a great stay. The room was lovely and the bed extremely comfortable. From the moment we arrived, the staff were very welcoming and polite. We had our evening meal there and the food was delicious. Breakfast the next morning was also very good. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

If you would like to stay in a place where the service is from the 1970’s, then this place is for you! I was informed at check in that nothing can be charged to your room. Breakfast only ran for 90 minutes and I needed to fill out every detail of my car and display a permit to use the car park. Check out is at 10am and at 10.15 (sorry I was a bit late! As modern service standards are usually 11am) the cleaning lady walked in (no knocking) whilst I was getting dressed and demanded I left. I explained I was without trousers and couldn’t leave currently, she then told me that it wasn’t her problem (I think it may have been) and I had to go. I told her this was not possible due to my undress, she then told me she was going to get ‘the boss’. The boss never came and I was out by 10.30 and no one was even there! Breakfast: They don’t offer anything other filter coffee and the hot menu is just old fashioned fry up options. Also; Displays of tampax, cheap razors and kids sweets and toys everywhere also are a little dated This property doesn’t match up to other inns in Woodstock and certainly doesn’t match modern day service standards for the price point.. Shame, as the location and finish of the bedrooms are nice.

I came here with my parents and little sister for her birthday. Waited an hour for our food. The rest of my family are vegans. My stepdad asked for a pizza with vegan cheeze, and my little sister asked for the vegan burger. After an hour, our meals turned up. The cheese on my stepdad’s pizza wasn’t vegan. My little sister’s “vegan” burger had a slab of halloumi in it. We left, and had a decent meal elsewhere, with speedy service.

Had a lovely meal at The Punchbowl. Meals were well cooked, well presented and delicious. Generous portions. The choice of meals and drinks is very good. Staff were very friendly and isn’t rush us as all, even though they were closing by the time we left. Would definitely revisit and recommend.

Delightful little hotel to stay at. I can't fault this lovely hotel or the family who own it as they were just lovely. Our room was sparkling clean, incredibly comfortable and very peaceful. The family and staff were very happy to help if needed and were extremely pleasant and sweet. The food both for dinner and breakfast was delicious and perfectly cooked and presented. We would recommend anyone looking to stay in Woodstock to stay here, we certainly will stay at The Punchbowl again.

I noticed the Punchbowl had two pages so I have copied my review, I didn’t want it to be missed. We stayed at the Punchbowl for a quick getaway after a few hard weeks at work and we loved it. The rooms were comfortable, stylish and clearly well maintained by the owners who could not have been more welcoming. We also ate in the restaurant and had a couple of drinks in the bar too, great selection of drinks and food and the food was delicious. Nothing was too much trouble throughout our whole stay and I know I am not fussy food wise so I am so grateful to all of the team. Will definitely visit again and highly recommended.

Spotlessly clean rooms in heart of Woodstock. Easy bus ride to Oxford city centre and walking distance to Blenheim Palace. Staff friendly and quick to rectify any issues raised. Food was great too. Comfortable and relaxing break within easy reach of all amenities.
