Room was disgusting , door jam had a huge gap in it would be very easy to break in . Had a musty smell , missing all woodwork around the door as well as base boards , pictures hung in random places (I'm sure to cover holes in the walls) sitting on the bed you could hear the broken springs , pillows cheap and next to no stuffing in them . Bathroom was not clean at all. Shades were missing almost all of the slats someone walking by could see right in as you are sleeping. We stayed all of 15 mins then left to get another hotel room didn't even ask for our money back left our key inside and didn't check out, didn't want them to be able to rent to someone else and get money off of them too. Would NEVER go back just plain gross clearly no pride in ownership at this establishment

This place is ok if you are on a tight budget. Very very rundown. When we checked in we were offer two choice of rooms and I said we had requested a king room. Was told they only had queen room and that is what I booked. Look up the confirmation and it said king room, first floor. We ended up in a queen room on the second floor. Stairway up to the room was very shakey. Then when we got into the room there was a locked extra door in the room. Found out at about 2 in the morning that it was a door to the next room. Found out when a person in the other room unlocked the door from the other side and decided to check to see if anyone was in the room. Luckily the door on our side had a latch lock so they could not get in. We never did find the remote for the tv and while looking the drawer for it there were three condoms in the drawer. In the bathroom there was a knife stuck in behind the mirror and there was crap on the door. Really think they need a better cleaning procedure. All in all it was an little scarey stay here and we will definitely only use this motel in as an emergency stay only if we even do this. Make sure to check the room for Surprises!!!!

We made a reservation at this hotel because it was the only one that would rent a room for one night on Labor Day weekend for under $100. Actual price was $95. Wisconsin Dells is a tourist Mecca. The first offence committed by this establishment was that we didn't have any towels. The proprietor stated that we would have towels within an hour. I thought that wouldn't be a problem because we had a wedding to go to and there would be sufficient time for the motel to stock the room. Wrong! We got back from the wedding at near 10:30 pm and we still had no towels and the office was closed for the evening. The office was closed more than it was open. Luckily my daughter was staying in another room and loaned us 1 bath towel and 1 wash cloth. The second offense was a lack of privacy due to a vertical window blind that was missing half of it's slats. I didn't notice this when we first entered the room during daylight. We fixed that by taking one of the bed spreads and draping it over the window shade rod. Tile was falling off of the surround at the bathroom vanity. Only one of two ceiling lights worked. There were no batteries in the TV remote control. There was a removable panel in the closet wall to access plumbing for the tub that was falling off the wall. The air conditioner was not adjustable for temperature. No knob and the shaft it would have been mounted to was seized. The wall thermostat was similarly defective. Luckily the bed spread hanging over the window was not needed because the room was too warm to sleep. The ceiling tiles would have been white at one time but had been painted black, I'm sure to hide stains. There were also holes in some of the tiles. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room and they worked. Maybe I should have left the refrigerator door open to cool the room. I didn't think of that at the time. The room was large but in terrible condition and should not have been rented. Please don't stay here. You will regret it. Sleeping in your car would be a better option.

You could not as for a better place for a motel to be in the Dells. One block from the main Dells area. Easy walk to everything Dells. The problem is that maybe this property is older, and it does take time any money to get it nice and better than it is. We stayed here two years ago, and it was not new and fresh, but it was fine. This year, maybe not a good as it was then. The staff is great, and seem to work hard, but there were several issues that need to be looked at. It took into the evening to get towels in the two rooms we had. The rooms are older, but they are clean. one of our beds was was worn out with a very big dip to the middle. Entrance to the stairs to get to room 16 are dark and kind of scary. I would not let my wife go out alone. The is not a staff person at the desk even at open times, so it is hard to get service if you need it. I was told the new owners are working at fixing it up, and with some of that this will be a place that everyone wants to stay at. Until then, if you get the right room, it is not the worst place you can stay in while in the Dells.

I took a chance on staying here because we were on a budget. The pile of stuff on the chair outside was there when we arrived & remained there for 2 days. The bathroom sink was damaged which we initially overlooked (after all that can cost a bit yo replace), there was a broken TV in the took (and a second one that worked). The room otherwise smelled & looked clean. The first night we discovered that they shorted us a blanket, that one of the towels was extremely holey & the other had dirt & red hair on it. The steam from the shower made the dust webs in the corners of the bathroom stand out. The next morning my husband tried to go talk to them at the front desk at 10am, no one there. He called & left a message. When we came back at 2pm there was still no one there. In the evening when we were getting ready for bed someone brought us a blanket but no towels, though they did bring them the following evening. We we asked about maid service we were told they weren't expecting one but the 2nd night we were there someone spent over an hour vacuuming the room above us (middle of the night). We asked extra trash bags but never heard back. This is the first yime I've left a pile of trash in a room or a negative review for a hotel. But we had no way of getting rid of trash, no one seemed to be in the office during office hours & took forever to do simple things like provide a blanket or clean towels. This place could be nice & we would have gladly left a good review if simple things had been done (clean towels, staff in office, trash removal).

Stayed here 2 years ago n was excited bcuz u can leave your car in parking lot n cruise the 6 block ***** up one side and down the other for souvenirs. Very close to restaurants n attractions. Loud area tho in party nightlife atmosphere. This time, the lights were not appropriately placed. Jimmy rigged power ***** behind wall. Shower was dysfunctional. No deadbolt on door. Towel rack busted on wall. Veneer on sink coming off n repaired with duck tape. Dead bug in bathroom sink. Electrical tape on dryer.....WHAT??!! Yes its true u get what u pay for n room was cheap.

We liked this place better than the very nice Shoreview Hilton Garden Inn we stayed at the prior 2 nights. Amy in the office was kind, the room was clean and quiet enough. The beds were perfect. The walk to Monk's for dinner was great. The place is old, being refurbished by good people, it seems. The room was spacious and simply furnished. Light switches were not ideally located.

I should say first of all, as a frequent traveler, I understand "you get what you pay for", and I'm not particular as long as the place is safe and clean. It appears this establishment changed hands sometime in the recent past. The most recent stay, in October of 2021 was a different story and was so sad. A list of the issues we had: 1. The floor was FILTHY, not even swept! There is NO excuse for this as the floor is vinyl and easy to clean, not to mention COVID. It was so bad we literally had to use Clorox wipes on our feet before putting on shoes and socks! Thank goodness we had no children or crawling babies with us! 2. The shower was dysfunctional -the main handle was barely attached. The second morning there was NO hot water and as we left, I could see another guest with a towel on her head pounding on the office door, so I knew it wasn't just our unit. Speaking of towels, there were not enough and no floor mat for the bathroom. As filthy as the floor was, this was awful. 3. There is absolutely no wifi, despite online information to the contrary. 4. The photos of the place online are inaccurate. The building has been painted black (???) to match the transient motel next door, which now has the same owner. Why black? The photos available on the website should be updated to show what it looks like now. 5. The room had a seriously outdated binder of information with office hours, vending and ice machine locations, "free coffee," etc. similar to the website. I saw none of these. The ice machine is located in front of the office, outdoors in the parking lot. I have no idea if it worked or not because I didn't dare peer into the crevices of the machine. 6. I knew this ahead of time but the walls are paper thin. You can hear normal conversations. 7. When we checked in, I requested a second key. The woman at the desk gave us a second key but mentioned the rest of the keys to the room were "lost" and "these were the only two so please return them to the key drop so I can get into the room" OK, who else is in possession of these keys? What if there was an emergency? We did not notice any insects but I wouldn't doubt at all there are issues. Even the window sills were dirty. The only good thing is the building is convenient to downtown attractions. Needless to say, sadly, we are breaking up with River Road Motel and will never be back.
