Hotels in Fort Gary, Winnipeg

We needed to make an emergency trip into Winnipeg with our dogs and needed a pet friendly hotel. The Comfort Inn South was the perfect fit. The location is excellent, being only seconds from the perimeter highway. Our room was on the main floor with patio doors that led directly outside to a perfect spot to walk the dogs. Check in was a breeze and Gerald the front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. Our room had a very VERY comfortable queen sized bed. So comfy, that I actually took a picture of the tag to see if I could buy one for my own home. They have a continental/hot breakfast that was nice and the coffee was also very good. Comfort Inn's have come a long way from what I can remember. I will definitely be staying at the Comfort Inn in the future.

Hygiene and tidy, the room is also equipped with a microwave oven and coffee maker, which is very good. But after searching for a long time, I didn't find any disposable slippers. The air conditioner is running dry and windy, but it is quite tolerable. The breakfast milk bread provided was delicious.

Hotel is difficult to get to with construction and the parking is not convenient. The area is a high crime location and it can be very uncomfortable around the area. Hotel was packed with people. We were informed many were staying because they were displaced, or coming from out of country. Which is completely fine, and only an issue for the sheer volume of people and families living long term in the building and in the small reception area. There was only 2 elevators working and one was broken for a while, there were long lines to access the elevator. Staff were obviously exhausted and mostly indifferent. There was security but the area and hotel did not feel secure. It was a very loud, cramped, hectic one night stay for us.

100% just a fabulous stay with a Hotel Service Staff that was friendly, helpful, welcoming and enjoyable. Simple things like the front desk person lending us her personal umbrella to get through the rainy day to our car to pull it up our front under the covering at the hotel entrance. The restaurant staff, just super friendly and helpful with breakfast and our late evening pre order, all packaged up and waiting for us even after they had closed for the night. Very nice. The Indoor Waterslide and pool and hot tub area was a Big Hit with all of the Kids, both young and old. We had family from all over gathering for an event and the CanadInns Ft Garry was a perfect location to get together for our several days in Winnipeg. This hotel is OK, the room facilities are very good, there is a bar in the room, there is a water pipe in the pool, the bed is very comfortable, the room size is not small, there is a small round dining table, a little regret that there is no free breakfast. For breakfast, I have 12 Canadian dollars per person. I didn't use breakfast in the hotel. Instead, I went to the nearby Costco to buy sandwiches and coffee. It took me three minutes from the hotel to Costco, and there are plenty of places to eat. Overall good

The sound of air condition was quite loud but compare to the sound of the shower, it was relatively not that bad. The water flow pressure makes the sound over 5 mins before it became normal. We expected Fairmount standard higher than we experienced.

The only reason cleanliness is rated a 3 is because our room had a smell to it (not bad, it could just be the cleaning products), other than that it was clean. It’s located on the outskirts of winnipeg which is lovely for driving out of town. The service was awesome, everyone from workers to people staying was friendly, it is a very welcome and warm environment. We ended up with a top floor room and was able to move onto the ‘motel’ style rooms, which was very appreciated. The breakfast that comes with the hotel really exceeded our expectations, REAL eggs, the crispiest best hash browns, and the toast was bacon was good too. They had an interesting cinnamon bun french toast that i’d definitely try next time. They have a pantry/ little convenience store in the lobby, and I’d say the prices are reasonable, definitely would expect them to be more. On the downside the beds are on the stiffer side, but the pillows are of good quality. this wouldn’t be my first choice to come back to in winnipeg but for the price and good meal included, it’s top #5.

Room was clean, modern, and quite. We were at the end of a hall, so that probably helped. We stayed in a bi-level King suite, which I would highly recommend. The view from the room was not pretty, just a roof of an adjacent building. However we are not in Winnipeg to look out the hotel room window. Bed was very comfortable and the excellent water pressure in the shower was wonderful. At night, the living room area was rather dark and could use a lighting upgrade. Hotel staff were very friendly, from the breakfast (they should have a sign saying ”please seat yourself” - as guests sometimes wait a while for host to come over and tell them to seat where ever they want) to the pleasant staff at the front desk. Always lots of staff at reception, so no waiting. Although we didn't use the pool area, we looked at it, and it was one of the most appealing looking hotel pools we've ever seen. We used the attached underground parking for 5 days - no issues. Parking area is quite large with numerous levels, would seem to be ample space. Easy in/out access throughout the day.

Very clean and comfortable room with all mod cons - more spacious than most in this central location in a capital city and the price was very reasonable for all on offer. Excellent wi-fi, nice toiletries, great choice at breakfast. The staff were very helpful, organising our taxi and allowing us to stay in the room after check out time so we could freshen up before we left for the airport. The only issue we had about the stay was the noise from the street. The hotel is in an area near some fast food restaurants and bars. The first night of the stay we were awoken by someone blasting out music in the very early hours of the morning. The following morning the bin men woke us at 5am. Nothing the hotel can do about this but if you are considering this hotel and won't be out partying till the early hours yourself maybe ask for a room on a high floor facing away from the street.
