We stayed here during the 9 year state baseball tournament, we wanted a hotel a little farther away then all the kids were staying. Great location, safe parking and near restaurant’s and a Walmart. Restaurant was open so we ordered food to go to our room. Room pluses - mini fridge microwave large flat screen TV and an awesome AC. Cons - coffee pot needs updating and bathroom could use a little updating. Please move smoking area away from entrance. This hotel was great for our needs, would stay again

The Holiday Inn - Winchester SE-Historic Gateway turned out to be a perfect and surprising sweet stopover. It was a long day's drive to get there but Marie greeted us with a big smile and wholeheartedly welcomed our kitty as well. :) It was a very nice Holiday Inn and the room was clean and relaxing. Breakfast was the ”icing on the cake” and it was because of Brandy who was our server. A terrific disposition and jovial personality on an early Monday morning. The food was delicious, as well. Clearly - an overall nice stay at this hotel and we highly recommend it.

Overall very positive - quiet and clean with a friendly staff. Negatives: - holiday inn express (corporate) should give up on the plastic fake cheese omelettes at breakfast - they are bad. The rest of the breakfast is pretty good, though. - although advertised as smoke free our floor reeked of cigarette smoke and Febreze. Even the room cleaning crew was complaining about the smell. I realize it is not the hotel’s fault if someone smokes in their room.

In pics and in person the modern fresh room style is appealing though the functionality is sub-par. An example: one night table was a solid piece, no drawer or shelf with the top diameter much smaller than my laptop. Typically, a phone (use as an alarm), a bottle of water and an iPad , e-reader or book/magazine would be on a nightstand. Whoops, no room for all that and the slick surface made me nervous to leave my iPad on it. The open closet is fine, especially for me as I don't hang or put clothes in a drawer, but the only space available that wasn't in the bathroom is directly below where one would hang their clothes and right above the fridge. This could make it a perfect spot for a soft sided cooler, but this relatively small space (didn't measure, maybe 14”x20” with Keurig-style coffee maker already on it) is where one might set snacks, extra sodas, the cereal one brings because they like to eat the same thing every day and need a spot to set their cereal bowl while grabbing milk out of fridge right below. Not sure about you, but I'm not terribly comfortable putting food & dishes in the bathroom. Unfortunately, that is where my coffee maker needed to go (if I'm remembering correctly) the outlets where not accessible so Mr. Nespresso did need to go in the bathroom.
Bathroom shower had some mold around the caulk area, otherwise serviceable. Not a horrible room overall, but not as nice as other similarly priced nearby chains so I'll stick to those.

The stay occurred over the Memorial Day weekend. I can't say enough about the lady that fixes the breakfast. It is amazing to see her detail to cleanliness and presentation, plus, she makes breakfast that is out of this world. I hope they never lose her! Saturday's breakfast was real scrabbled eggs, bacon and potatoes. Sunday's was scrabbled eggs, sausage, homemade biscuits and sausage gravy! Amazing! Monday, Memorial Day, was scrabbled eggs, rosemary potatoes (which were delicious), and bacon. I would pay to eat the breakfast she puts out. The coffee was hot, the juice bar was always full, and the waffle irons were ready for anyone who wanted a waffle. Thank you for paying attention to all those details. The hotel was clean and quiet!

SSherpa55461436452This was our 2nd stay at this location since it had opened. Our first visit was very good so I chose it again when driving back up north toward home. This visit was not as good because of the young girl at the front desk that night. The Bonvoy APP did not enable the key for my room that was assigned. So, I had to stop at the front desk and I was clearly bothering this girl to have to put her phone down to take care of me. The next day I also noticed that they put a $150 hold on my VISA. We are huge Marriott travelers but it really irritates me when the APP doesn’t properly work and it irritates me even more when their properties decide to put holds on customer visas without informing the customer. Also, the manager of this hotel needs to realize that the girl who doesn’t want to work a hotel front desk and decides to take her attitude out on the customers is a huge negative reflection on your particular property and that causes us to choose a different Marriott property next time traveling through.
DDebra RaineyThe people at the desk were very nice and so were the housekeepers. The hotel was being renovated, but there were still rooms available. I had an excellent room. Very clean with a nice size TV, refridgerator, microwave, coffeemaker, hairdryer, and you could keep it very cool if you wanted. Not like some other hotels where they control the temperature. The bed was very clean and comfortable. The housekeepers were excellent and my room was always fresh and clean, with everything I needed. You could get coffee and continental breakfast in the morning that was perfect for me. Since I am not a breakfast person. The facilities were closed, because of the renovations, but that was okay with me. I would stay there again, if I was in that area. Oh and lots of shopping and restaurants close by.
GGuest UserWe had our first family reunion here this weekend and it was a great success thanks to the wonderful staff. Roxanna, Vickie, Izzy, & Marvin were excellent. If you are thinking about having a function here, DO NOT HESITATE! BOOK IT! They took care of my every need and helped my family out of a last minute jam. My family had an incredible time and enjoyed their stay and the event thoroughly. Thank You so much for all of your help and hospitality! A+ Service!

My stay here has been for a little over a month now and this morning was the WORST AND RUDEST SERVICE I have had the ENTIRE time I have been here. Everyone else has been EXTREMELY friendly and kind. The lady at the front desk was extremely rude to my sister whom went to pay for the room for the day. She tried to charge her over the amount of the flat rate I was given so far bc of the length of my stay and asked for an ID and she was not switching out the room. She was only paying for it. The gentleman who’s name was on the room was working. She refused to apply our flat rate discount, continued to be rude to my sister who has very bad mentally issues from other trauma. I called down to speak with her and she continued her appalling attitude. I asked not to speak to me that way bc it was very rude and disrespectful and she continued. I then asked her name and later in time, she gave me a fake name, I asked her lastname and she told me “Nunya” which means “none of your business” in sarcasm. Then asked me what my name was. I went to find out the e problem at front desk and the lady there knows I’ve been here that long and knows our room and knows of the gentleman who’s name is on the room. She continued to raise her voice as she was in the phone with the manager. When I started explaining to the manager, the front desk clerk continued to raise her voice and also answered the phone bc of a call coming in all while continuing to argue with me. After explaining to owner she found that we have been here that long and tons the lady what to do. This woman threatened to have me physically removed by the police telling me my room wasn’t under my name. With that being said, my name was on the room for the second guest. My sister was trembling for about 45 minutes after the occurrence. I made a NASTY complaint on her and I honestly hope she loses her job!!!! THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT!! But she failed to agree with that. I was so upset that my blood pressure was high and had to take an extra half of meds. This woman clearly does not belong working with the public. I have NEVER in my 44 years of life been spoken to the way she spoke to m?(’
