Room rating a plus, solid 4. Restaurant food quality and quality a 2 when you order high dollar menu items. Paying fir bread and butter, a true shame for the small high priced meals. The bread and waitstaff were a highlight. Nice and pleasant. Get a new chef.

My mom and I stayed at this inn as a part of a fall New England road trip. I wish our trip would have allowed us to stay more than one night at The White House Inn! The inn itself and the grounds were all so beautiful and charming. We had an amazing meal at Clara’s restaurant on site and our room was even upgraded to a suite. The view of the amazing fall colors from our room was stunning. I hope I am able to return here one day!

I so wanted to love this place! Nestled in a beautiful hilly area it seems like an ideal place to spend a weekend! The evening innkeeper during checkin was helpful and friendly but then it went downhill after that. Our bed was too soft and it seems we slept on a very worn mattress. We sunk everytime we sat on it. Then, in the morning, our electricity went out so we had to take our showers in the dark. Husband went downstairs after trying to reset the plugs in our room. He was told "yeah we are having problems downstairs in the kitchen as well." This was not helpful. No "hey im sorry or we are working on it" or anything. I took a small mirror off the wall and propped it on the bed to put my makeup on and use a power cord on a wall that did have electric to dry my hair. The Continental breakfast was subpar. Coffee was weak, offerings (for the price we paid!) were sparse. Tablecloths were dirty. There was not an attendant to refill anything or ask if we needed something. I have written hundred of reviews and would not recommend this place. They should have offered a refund. Too bad because it does have a lot of charm.

This was the second time my wife and I stayed at the White House Inn. From the moment we arrived, the staff was welcoming and accommodating. The inn is beautiful and well maintained. The room was very clean with a nice porch and a great view. We dined in the restaurant on our first night. The food was fantastic and the service great. The White House Inn is definitely a top inn in New England.

The White House is a lovely hotel with a fine restaurant and an excellent staff. Rooms are large and well appointed . The hotel is old however and so little quirks do occur. Our door, for example, was a little tricky to open and water pressure was modest. Those little issues are more than compensated for by the charm of the hotel. We had a delightful stay and will certainly return

The inn is beautifully decorated. Lovely furnishings, window treatments, and pretty details. The grounds are beautiful with wonderful flowers and chairs for enjoying the view. Our room was very nice and comfortable. Nice continental breakfast in the morning. The only negative was the water pressure in the shower was extremely minimal, which was a little bit surprising.

I really wanted to love my stay. I splurged for the junior suite in order to see the beautiful view and it was beautiful. And the bed was very comfortable. But not worth $465 (room plus taxes and fees). There is a lot of road noise if you are outside. You do not hear it too much inside but it is replaced with lots of noise from the kitchen and patrons at the restaurant below until it closes at 10pm. The lights from the outdoors are quite bright and one window had a cheap shade that did not reach the bottom of the window frame. After a shorter night sleep than preferred, I looked forward to a nice shower with the higher end toiletries provided. Unfortunately there is no water pressure in the room and only a few measly trickles of water came out of the Kohler water fixtures. It was not enough to rinse the soap from my hair. The continental breakfast was adequate and unremarkable. I never saw a front desk person the entire time but did appreciate a staff person giving me my key and helping me to my room. It was very odd that I get text and emails after I arrived inviting me to make arrangements for a late check in. In summary, I have known this place my entire life and stayed in the past with previous owners. I really want them to succeed but think it outrageous to charge as much as they do for what they provide.

The inn is beautiful. However, my wife and I found the general manager to be overbearing and “off the mark.” As we were checking in, he blamed his employee for “making him look bad” as she helped him because he didn’t know how to do it. We found that to be unprofessional as a leader, even if he was “joking.” He talked over me and interrupting me as I was trying to questions about parking, breakfast, etc., which was frustrating after a long day of traveling. As we were leaving a couple days later, my wife was outside bringing our things to the car and I was bringing the key to the front desk. The manager was upstairs and asked me which room I was in and if the car in the parking lot was mine. These questions made us feel rushed and as if we were doing something wrong (we were leaving well before the check out time). Unfortunately, our memories of this beautiful inn with be tainted with reminders of the manager who had some trouble distinguishing the nuances of hospitality.

Everyone greeted us upon arrival, our room was lovely, the bed was so comfortable, gorgeous view from the room, continental breakfast with many options, Clara’s Cucina Italia - delish (recommend the chicken parm or chicken Milanese), beautiful grounds, easy check out. Would recommend and would definitely return!
