The Ben, Autograph Collection

We haven’t been here for ten minutes and I already want to rate this hotel. It is superb in every way, from the interior design, the vibe, the location, the staff, etc. This is what every hotel should aspire to be.

The Ben and Proper Grit restaurant are amongst the most amazing experiences in the area. I want to highlight the amazing service from Ruth and Gigi in Proper Grit. They are both attentive but intuitive enough to know when we are having a business conversation to give some space. The food is amazing and the service is timely and accurate.

We absolutely love The Ben! This last visit we had an amazing breakfast with exceptional service from Gorken!

Though the beds are comfortable, and the common spaces really nice, I was charged $1400 for a moldy room that made me very, very sick. The room was extremely musty with a foul odor and 80% humidity on the AC control panel (mold grows after 48 hours at humidity above 60%.) After only 7 hours in the room I had facial swelling, congestion, had lost my voice and suffered systemic reactions consistent with toxic mold exposure. I spoke to someone at the front desk, who was fairly dismissive, and could not escalate matters further as I had a plane to catch. Since my stay, I have had 2 reviews mysteriously disappear and a phone request to speak to someone in management has gone ignored. They clearly do not take biohazardous conditions or room maintenance seriously. Do not stay here if you have any sensitivity to mold!

The Ben is an experience! From the moment we arrived, the service was top-notch, starting with a complementary check-in cocktail, awesome desk service from the lovely Mel, and the coolest bellman, Yoan, who gave us the hotel scoop and the big secret! The great service continued throughout our stay, including everyone in the food service department, from Jill, the rooftop bartender who took care of us at lunch, to the beautiful GiGi at breakfast in the Proper Grit Café on the first floor. Our room was stunning, with a beautiful view of The Breakers and the Intracoastal Waterway. The complementary water was a welcome sight, and the bed was incredibly comfortable.

I have had the most amazing experience at the Ben Hotel. And I must give the credit to Kevin, the bell hop, and Freddie and Joey, the Valets. They have gone above and beyond at every opportunity to assist me, and to make my experience the most pleasurable possible. These three are a cut above the rest! I manage a boutique, and we have a pop-up at the Winter wonderland. These fellas have done everything to make my life easier and to help me in every way they possibly can. They have proven themselves to be the sweetest, most caring, most dedicated, and hardworking young men I have ever met in my life! We have been in business for almost 30 years, and it is rare to find this kind of intelligent and compassionate help. Never let these three go! If anything, promote them and give them all raises!!! I give the Ben Hotel five stars, and the credit goes to these three guys!!! Thank you for everything! I will be recommending this hotel to everyone I know!

My husband and I came to The Ben to celebrate our 20th anniversary. First visit and we had a great time. I really appreciate the decor in the room and lobby area etc. Very friendly service from all staff. They sent us up a complimentary bottle of champagne with a nice note for our anniversary. Nice attractive atmosphere inside and out. Kevin and other valet staff were helpful and friendly and managers available and accommodating. We will definitely keep it on our list of places to stay.

We absolutely love The Ben! The hotel is gorgeous and made even more special by the uniqueness of the history and the Book Butler amenity. I enjoyed reading Bruno while admiring the beautiful view from my room. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel's Proper Grit restaurant, which was quick and easy to get into and had an excellent food selection at surprisingly affordable prices.
