We were really looking forward to spending the weekend at this beautiful hotel, but won't be back. Let's start with the good- spectacular views from our bedroom (7). Staff was fabulous. Bottled water supplied both nights. Now the rest: Going up the chipped stairs, you look down onto the reception area, where the very large ledge above the entrance hall is FILTHY with months of dust and dead insects. Everything else you look down on that's perhaps at a difficult height to clean is thick with dust. Bedroom door had had the lock replaced by a smaller mechanism - but the contractor didn't bother to paint/fill the gap left. WHY? How can this be acceptable? Our bedroom (and after chatting to friends who also spent the night) and others had the hardest foam chip pillows I have ever seen/experienced. They did not have anything else when I asked for softer pillows. As a result I slept really badly my first night and tried to have a nap in the day - it was impossible because of the noise from downstairs. I felt something like plastic on my side of the mattress, and pulled the sheet up to see what it was (it was the plastic name sash on the corner of the mattress) - but then noticed that the mattress protector (the bit that I saw) was horribly stained. The mattress is on a wooden built in bed/bedside table base. The wood sides protrude from the mattress. A friend ripped her leg quite badly on that protrusion and needed to ask for a plaster. So be careful. The headboard was at the perfect size to cut right into the middle of your head, making it almost impossible to sit up in bed and lean back. The second night - opened the bed to reveal VERY crumped/rumpled bottom sheet. The cleaner had just pulled the duvet up and not bothered to pull the bottom sheet flat. Bedroom floor was so filthy that my socks ended up black underneath after walking around the room in them on the first evening. As for the "full length mirror" - was this an afterthought? Beautiful (expensive) bamboo used for furniture in the room - then comes the cheapest, smallest white framed full length mirror (above luggage rack). No two prong plugs or USB cable charging stations in the room - please bring your own adapters if you're staying there. The only available "milk" is in the form of Cremora powder creamer sachets, which is OK in coffee but awful in tea. No aircon in the room. Summer, I would imagine, will be horrific, as the rooms face the setting sun. The windowsill was the only ledge available for toiletry bags. Shower was small (even though the bathroom was nice and big with more than enough space) and floor was so slippery, I first rinsed it, thinking the cleaner had not rinsed her cleaning materials. But it remained very slippery. Please be careful. The bathroom needs more towel rails. Bathroom basin plug did not seal. Bathroom only has motion detection lighting, so no way of switching the lights off when you want to go to sleep. Only solution was to close the door. Back of ba

Personally called into hotel to book table no 1 (best view) a week before dining & table confirmed 11/09/24 We arrived to dine with our guests that had driven 800 ks to meet us. The restaurant had given our table to guests staying at the hotel and not informed us. Such appalling management and extremely disappointing for us. They offered us champagne as apology but we drink wine and none was offered! . I would have expected an offer of a discount on bill. Anything. Even a voucher for a future coffee visit. The food was acceptable but very slow service due to a table of 20 + so not enough waiters on duty. 3 Star hotel with magnificent views.

Please be very careful when going onto this hotels website. It's been skimmed and I lost $1,244 making a booking for December 2024 which wasn't legitimately the booking agent. The hotel's agency says it's happened to many clients and unfortunately cannot assist me in getting the funds back even though they have a booking for me!

The views surrounding the hotel are absolutely breathtaking! Shark Bay hotel was the perfect venue for my son and daughter-in-law to have their wedding. Guests booked the entire hotel for a 2-night stay and received 5-star service from the staff. Chef Dee, you prepared the most delicious meals throughout the weekend, from the West Coast Braai on Friday evening to the dinner served at the wedding reception. Our guests were blown away. A huge thank you to the manager, Alwina and her team, you guys were amazing!

Always a fantastic experience at the Sharkbay hotel Restaurant. Winter specials available for the month of May. Friendly staff and great service. We went there for my birthday celebration tonight and enoyed the wonderful selection of starters , garlic mussels , calamari, chicken livers and amazing carpaccio. Thank you Alwina, Riaan and staff.

Stayed in a luxury villa but Shark Bay doesn't know what luxury is. No privacy and no view of the lagoon (except from the patio), bedrooms with tiny windows face a wall, hot tub open to the neighbours. They should have had an architect involved.... Interior is furnished with a cheap leather couch and single wicker chair. Bed side lamps don't work, ceiling fans are wired to the wrong switches so hurricane speed only - in fact everything is done at the lowest cost. Even the bath towels are hand towels, luxury should at least include decent size towels. Bedroom/bathroom is tiny. And it is over 1km from the water. Nothing luxury about their luxury villa. Telephonically booked though Touchdown Africa who charged us roughly double the price advertised on the same day.

Deluxe room the size of a dorm room, located above the kitchen extractor fan blasting until after 10 PM. Moved to a villa that evening, only to find it covered in dust, which resulted in me having several asthma attacks that night through to the next morning. Disgusting bathroom with urine marks over the floor.

We decided to do a day trip up west coast and had heard great reviews about this hotel so we stopped and decided to have lunch. The views across the lagoon are just superb. We met Rian who was awesome his service and his friendly manner was really a breathe of fresh air. We will go back just to see him doing clearly what he loves.
