Stayed here for one night, on business. Beautiful decor with very friendly & helpful staff and delicious food in the restaurant - both dinner and breakfast. The bed was very comfy, and the shower hot. I would definitely stay here again, if I was in the area.

Last month we had a very special family reunion at this beautiful historical hotel and it was just fabulous. Room, refreshments , ambience, staff and service all brilliant. We were able to have a family room for an overnight stay and staff went out of their way to provide a cot and a Zbed so we could be together. It was spacious , comfortable and very clean all at a great price too. Breakfast delicious with a varied menu choice. Sending a whopping big thank to all staff and looking forward to staying again.

Had a package for my birthday. My daughter and I had treatments and dinner and also breakfast. We went in the zaccuzzi and had a swim. Stayed the night in a beautiful suite. Staff are great especially Yasmin on reception and Ellie the beauty therapist. We have back again today and definitely be going back again.

OK, where do you start. £140 for the night for two with breakfast is totally acceptable apart from our stay yesterday. The hotel is being renovated which we weren't told about until we got there. Our room was tired, old, dirty and very substandard. Room 34 in the roof. List of niggles, plastic glasses in room, we are adults not children, no bedside light on main bed, one tiny packet of biscuits, one hot chocolate, water in hot tap very very hot, dangerously hot in fact. One tiny shampoo, one tiny bodywash, for two people. Bathroom floor filthy, carpet tatty and threadbare.

Nothing but praise for this hotel. The building itself is ancient, quirky and romantic, with many nooks and passages, filled with antique furniture and even a suit of armour. As a result the ambience is great, and this is enhanced by the excellent staff, including Yasmin on Reception. The bedroom was large and commodious enough for us two and our small son and the bathroom was great. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel but had an excellent (full English) breakfast. Only slight niggle - the breakfast menu needs to be clearer about choices and they should offer Continental OR cooked like most hotels. Will definitely return.

A lovely part listed establishment with many of the quirky features that go with that. Our room was fairly remote from reception via several flights of stairs up and down. This was a disappointment at first, but when we found there was a wedding reception with disco that evening, we decided the management were being thoughtful. The room was nicely finished, and the bathroom was superb. Our dinner was one of the best we'd enjoyed for a long time, unusually all courses for both of us were exceptional. We didn't see the chef, but would have thanked him or her for the imagination, preparation, and presentation. Where's that Michelin Star? Our waiter, Dan, went out of his way to make sure we were happy. In fact all the staff were really helpful and went out of their way to give us a rare experience. The only issues were the view from the bedroom, being a disused car park and a shipping container, and the fact that we could hear all the conversation from the next room (fortunately not too noisy or late partying).

We spent 2 nights at The Manor House in August (16th-18th) with 3 other couples as we were visiting the Auckland Project & in particular the Kynren, which was spectacular. We couldn’t have been happier with our choice of hotel. The rooms were exceptional! Definitely well beyond 3* standard. The food was truly first class and the service outstanding. We were warned in advance that renovations to the main staircase & hall were taking place but this in no way hampered our comfort & enjoyment. We will certainly be returning. Well done to all the staff!

We had a wonderful stay in this charming, historical hotel. Our rooms were in the courtyard annexe and were spotlessly clean and very quiet at night. We enjoyed dinner in the hotel on the first night and also had a massage and facial in the Spa, which was a very relaxing experience. Shelli, the massage therapist, was excellent. The hotel is very quirky with a fascinating history. A particular thank you to all the staff who were without exception so friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed for two nights to visit Kynren. The room itself was nice, obviously it’s just been recently revamped as the hotel is under going some refurbishment. But was lacking on some of the finer details that would have made the room better, there were no tissues in the bathroom, only one hand towel, no hot water in either hand basin (but shower was ok?) no water in the room (I was not expecting a branded bottle of water) but a simple bottle of tap water in the room to welcome you on a hot day would have been very welcome. There was a questionable stain on the curtain, which should have been cleaned and the bottle of water (which I got from the bar) and glass was left in our room after it’s was cleaned and not taken away for two days. Also our room faced out onto a car park where a large container was being stored, not the most scenic view, perhaps it could have been disguised in some way. We had dinner on the Friday night and on ordering the Pinot Grigio to drink we were told “we have run out?” And the same when I came to order a mint tea? Surely the FB manager checks the level of stock and especially in August when you expect to be at your busiest. In my opinion just a few simple things could be done to enhance our stay at this hotel and I personally do not think we will be returning. This is just my personal opinion but I have to come clean and say that I have worked in hospitality for 15 years, so do know I bit about hotels!
