"This was the best hotel I stayed in during my trip to Switzerland, bar none! It's right on the lake, and you can sit on a chair and enjoy the view. They also upgraded our room, which was large and very comfortable, with a small balcony offering direct views of the lake and the street. The town was very quiet with few tourists. After breakfast in the morning, I strolled along the lakeside and admired the unique houses. The hotel staff were very welcoming and had a family atmosphere."

The food served as a four course meal was mediocre at best, not very tasty although presented very well. Breakfast selection was adequate except for the staff that barely understood German or English!!! The room we had was very small, no coffee or amenities considered normal for a hotel of this class. No sope in the showers is not acceptable. A fridge or mini bar would have been helpful too. Though the wellness center excelled we probably wouldn’t come back to this hotel"

"It’s so beautiful that you don’t need it. . The last picture was taken from the balcony. Simply heaven. Definitely book a lake view room. Otherwise, don't stay here. Because there is nothing around this house. . You read that right, there is nothing there, just some small buildings belonging to residents. There are no shops within two or three kilometers. Fortunately, the hotel provided plenty of drinks and we had dinner at the hotel. Needless to say, the service is very, very good. Let me talk about the shortcomings. The bathroom is too small, and the bathroom has a voice-activated light, which means that it will suddenly go out after taking a shower. It is scary when it happens suddenly. You have to open the shower door to light it up again. The door of the room It opens outwards, which is rare. These two items are very poor design."

"My husband and I have recently returned from an 11 night stay at the Hotel Gerbi. We travelled with Inghams and booked a superior room overlooking the lake. We chose the hotel because of the leisure facilities and booked this hotel rather than the sister hotel, the Alexander, because the Gerbi's rooms are larger and we liked the more traditional look of the hotel. The room was certainly large (although somewhat spartan) and had a nice view of the lake so nothing to complain about there. The location of the hotel turned out not to be ideal for us. As we had no car, we ended up walking about 20 minutes most days to get to the bus stop or the boat station. Some guests used the hotel minibus to get to and from the village centre each day but we didn't feel comfortable about using the minibus as a taxi service so instead walked or occasionally took the free local bus which stopped hourly outside the hotel. As we didn't use the hotel's leisure facilities as often as we had planned, we would have been better off staying at a hotel closer to the village centre. Our main disappointment with the hotel was that we never felt truly welcome or valued. The mood seemed rather sombre and we did not experience the hospitality we would have liked from a family-owned hotel. The couple who I think were the owners seemed rather world-weary. We ate breakfast in the main restaurant or on the terrace but dinner was always taken in a more modern restaurant, the 'Gerberei' or its terrace. I think guests on half-board ate there while a la carte guests were in the main restaurant. Sometimes the Gerberei was very quiet but it was also sometimes used additionally for groups or families so could be rather raucous. Meals were often not very quiet or romantic and sometimes the service was slow. We had the impression that a la carte guests were favoured while those on half-board just had to wait. The offering at breakfast was good and the evening meals were fine but not always to our liking (particularly the vegetables). However, as there were 4 courses we never went to bed hungry. The soups were particularly tasty. All in all, the hotel was a little underwhelming and our holiday a little disappointing but, of course, this is entirely subjective and I'm sure other guests will be perfectly happy at the Gerbi."
