Sussex Motel

I travel for my job and I've always been a big fan of the old-fashioned roadside motels. The Sussex Motel is probably my favorite. The rooms are very clean and very comfortable. Two wonderfully friendly people co-manage the facility. Very Nice!

I read the reviews and thought this place fine to stay at. When I arrived, I was very concerned about the safety and appearance of the Motel. While there is CCTV surveillance and doors with digital locks , I did not feel safe. After dark, many of the residents in the Motel looked a bit sketchy. There was a truck parked outside our room filled with dogs who barked all night long. The room was not the cleanest. There was no bar soap, I was told by maid "they ran out" and I should use the shower gel. Then she miraculously found a bar of soap for me. Then I was told there used to be an ice machine , but it was broken....I have severe allergies and started to not feel great. I then saw the night stand was caked in dust. I cleaned it. I decided to check the headboard. Around 2 inches of dust on the headboard. Behind the bed looked like it had not been vacuumed in quite awhile. This Motel needs a major overhaul. It is a state of disrepair. The only plus was that the manager was a sweetheart. fell bad writing this review. he seems like a hard worker. However, I wish I had seen a review like this and not booked.

This hotel was awesome. It looks like an old roadside motel, but our room was seriously nice, cozy and clean. The beds were comfy. The room had a nearly full sized fridge. There was a small kitchen table with two chairs, as well as a pair of comfy chairs to sit in. The TV was huge, with Roku built in. We got there late and because we had paid in advance, the staff left our key in a lock box on our door. That was convenient. It was perfect for our needs, reasonably priced, and just a better experience than you’d get at a similarly priced chain hotel.

Recently stayed at this little motel while attending Spartan race at nearby Mountain Creek resort. Upon pulling up to the place it looked like a rundown old motel. However, after checking in with the owner and getting our room we could not believe how nice and clean this motel was. 55 inch TV full-size new refrigerator new microwave. Ridiculously clean rooms. Great value. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area
