Royal Palms Beach Hotel

My wife and I traveled to the Royal Palms on the 8 October for 2 weeks. Has soon as we walked into reception we were looked after, and things never changed for the fortnight we where there. Every single member of staff had a smile on there faces and would always ask if everything was OK . Our ground floor room(137) was spacious and clean with a great view of the pool and sea. The buffet restaurant gave a good option of breakfast, lunch and evening meals. The pool attendants (priyantha and another guy sorry forgot his name) would always bring your towels to your sunbeds and make sure you had the same beds everyday. The drinks in the bars was plenty full and lots of choices, it was a shame you could only have 1 glass of wine with your meal. It would be good if there was an alternative to the entertainment that they put on in the lobby bar but that's me being petty. There is no beach directly to the hotel due to the high tides but you can excess it from either end of the resort but you will have to step over a lot of rocks, unfortunately the sea is very rough and to dangerous to go into. You will get a lot of the locals wanting you to go in there shops or on their tuk tuks but with a friendly no they leave you alone or just want to talk to you. We took the local train to Galle which was a great experience sitting with the locals but very hot and a lot cheaper than getting a taxi or booking through the rep. We had a lovely meal in the Japanese restaurant on our last night and fully looked after by Nawod. I would highly recommend the hotel and we will definitely return.

The staff are very helpful and helpful especially Dilki. The room is always clean and fresh and you are greeted each evening with a different sculpture made from towels. Pool staff are also friendly and helpful bringing towels to the sunbed and making sue you have everything you need

The hotel and the people who work here do anything they can to make your stay memorable from the dining room, front desk, cleaners, pool attendants and Animation staff. Our room was big and comfortable everything you could ask for. The only downside there’s a railway line at one side of the hotel and where there used to be a beach at the other before the Tsunami, you have to be on your guard if you venture out into town, scammers will try you at every turn. We went on a tour of hill country and south west Sri Lanka probably more in the way of tourist areas, we arranged holiday and tour through Mercury Holidays, the tour was with your own driver and guide who was very good and informative, it was a 2 night 3 day tour not cheap and we were not pleased when they put us up in a poor hotel on first night, but they up for it with rest of tour 1st class all the way. We were all inclusive the first week one glass of wine with lunch and dinner and local spirits and beer, drink wise not the best for all inclusive, my partner only drinks wine so she got 2 glasses of wine with lunch and dinner but had to sign to declare she wouldn’t drink any other alcohol. Second week we were half board we paid locally better option.

I was served by Ouishka at the pool bar, very friendly and wonderful margharita cocktail! I would definitely recommend the hotel, great food, local and also international, exquisite taste if you want to try something Srilankan. It’s also close to a city centre by tuktuk, just ask at the reception and they will give you information.

We had an amazing stay the staff were very friendly and I had towel animals made for me by Udayanga and the pool attendants were great the hotel was very clean the weather was lovely even the monsoon weather was good. The food was good even got a English breakfast the curries were a little spicy but I did try them 😂😂

THARINDU from the reception gave me best 👌 service.he is a best at the reception.very helpful and friendly. Food is excellent and hotel facilities are very good.sri Lanka is best country to travel and Royal palms hotel best in Kalutara.can recommend to anyone.thank you very much 😀

Very good experience during our weeks stay. Helpful reception staff. Very good choice of food,hot dishes kept hot and good service, excellent cakes and breads. We enjoyed our yoga and pool. aerobics with Crishmal The pool staff were attentive and quick to help. We had a few issues with our room which were very quickly resolved.
