Good location, on the side of the road, very close to the city center. If the room is noisy at night on the side of the road, but it is quiet late at night without a car. The opposite cooperative parking lot is not completely free, it is 1700~1100. The hotel is pleasantly surprised, the lobby and room have a 3~4 star feeling. Compared with the hotels in eastern Turkey, breakfast is very general.

The service attitude is great. Every employee is very nice. This shows the high level of management of this Hilton, including helping me to surf the Internet Wi-Fi. The breakfast area is also perfect. The room is clean and comfortable. The only downside of the hotel is that it is far from the lake. The 6-lane highway speeds past at speed. It would be perfect if the hotel has a safe passage that can easily reach the lake.

I had booked to stay in another hotel in Van but arrived to find that it was closed because of COVID-19. Staff there alerted Celal, the English-speaking manager of Athena Life Otel, who kindly collected me and arranged for me to stay in his hotel. He gave me a very genuine welcome and made very helpful arrangements for my touring programme. There is a great deal to explore in the vicinity of Van and I enjoyed my stay very much. I also met the owner and his younger brother and found them both very friendly. The breakfasts were good (despite the usual change from buffet to plated meal in this time of pandemic) and were served by a very courteous waiter. My room was pleasant, with a comfortable bed and satisfactory en-suite facilities. On TV one could watch Turkish and Japanese news in English as well as a large variety of programmes in Turkish. I can recommend the hotel for the friendliness of the staff and its central location in the city, and certainly intend to stay there on my next visit to Van.

When we went to the Comfort Suite hotel, they told us that since we made our reservation late, they did not have any available rooms and that we would stay at a different hotel. We were taken to the Pars Palace hotel. The room was large enough, it was clean, and we liked the breakfast very much. Vana is the hotel we will choose when we come back.
