I loved this hotel because the staff were so universally friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was just lovely. I had two great meals there. Good value for money too. My one big complaint is the room was way too hot. It was 33°C. The air conditioning didn't work. The only advice I could be given was open the window. The 3 inches it opened. Nothing worked and it did make sleep difficult. Such a shame as it puts me off rebooking for October when I go again. There is an excellent ”Walking Street” opposite the hotel with restaurants and bars, so I'll be sad to change to a different hotel. Fix the room temperature, please!

I usually hold off before posting these things but I'm hot and irritable so here it is and you can sort through it if you want to know details.
The air conditioner was broken in my room and he seemed to be saying that in all the rooms they were broken in some way. Either blowing air but it wasn't cold or cold but hardly blowing and besides he couldn't change my room. So while I'm doing the review, you can't get hot water in the shower. It gets briefly almost there and then cools. So no way to take a long shower or a hot bath. There is a lamp but it's unplugged. Because there is only two outlets next to each other in one place. When I unplugged The TV etc and plugged in the cute lamp it turned out the lamp flashes briefly and then doesn't work. The bulb? Oh, and then Wi-Fi stopped working and said it was start again when network quality improved. And someone had made noodles in the hot pot and it was partially scrubbed but not completely so my tea (not provided) tasted faintly of chicken soup. Other than Wi-Fi, hot water (drinking and bath) and air conditioning it was quaint and nice. Bathrobes and monogram towels. A down duvet in down pillows. In the mattress you can kind of feel the springs but they seem to have the same mattress everywhere from the hotels down to hostels so I don't know that good ones are available. And everything was clean including the carpet but did smell a little of smoke. So it's kind of like a four-star hotel and in some ways the same as a cheap guest house. And inexpensive by American standards. So even though it costs double or more then the guest houses it still cost less than a Motel 6. The best thing is you can walk to the Palace of the Dohg Khan, restaurants, grocery stores, etc and it is a place where, as my cab driver ”people in Ulaabatar live, not a tourist place”. And easy to get to because you don't have to fully enter city traffic. And I had a lively view of the real life going on from my seventh story window.

The stay was average. Front desk staff speaks good English. I visited in late January. The room was way too warm for my liking so my sleep wasn't too good. The air conditioning doesn't work in winter and lowering down the temperature takes forever. The only way to cool down is to open the window, but with the air quality being very bad - not advisable. I ordered room service from the Irish place upstairs, but the guy there does not speak good English so instead of pumpkin soup I got some meat cream soup. The thing I did not like and which kinda spoiled my morning plans as I had an arranged meeting, was the fact that the breakfast which was supposed to start at 7am, was 30 minutes late. If you tell people it's from 7am, then please stick to it. No other complaints. Oh, maybe just the omnipresent smell of coal in the entire city, thus also in rooms, but I guess it's just me, a visitor not being used to it.

No doubt that the Ramada UB City Center is one of the best hotels in the city. What I loved the most about this hotel is that it is connected to a large mall with many stores and food outlets - so convenient for shopping and eating. Hansang Restaurant and Cafe Restime are also a part of the hotel building, and both were great! The rooms are super comfortable (the one I had featured an amazing panoramic view of UB city - breathtaking), and the shower is huge!! Finally, the staff were super helpful in assisting me with organising airport transfers and car rental for the day, where I got to see the beautiful Terelj National Park. Overall, I had a memorable stay here- would definitely recommend!

The landlord is very nice. The room is very clean and the furniture is very comfortable. The transportation to the surrounding area is convenient, and there are also supermarkets nearby. Quiet and not noisy. In short, it is a very good overseas homestay.

We had a very comfortable and pleasant stay at the Holiday Inn UB during our visit to Mongolia in early June. Many thanks to the Front Desk Manager at the hotel who gave us a warm welcome and ensured we had a smooth check-in when we arrived. They gave us an excellent room on the 9th floor with great views of the city. The room was very clean and looked newly furnished. The wifi and water pressure worked very well, and the beds were very comfortable, especially after our long flight to UB. The hotel is centrally located near to the Gandeng Monastery area, and it's an easy 15 minute walk to nearby attractions like the State Dept Store and Shangri-la Mall. It was convenient to get food and necessities nearby from the 24hr convenience stores and many dining options nearby. There is also a very nice restaurant on the 2nd floor of the hotel, which serves very nice Mongolian and international dishes at an affordable price. The breakfast buffet is also held at the 2nd floor restaurant; with good choice of food and beverage. We (somewhat regrettably) checked out after 2 nights stay, to travel to the countryside, and left our luggage at the Front Desk/Concierge for safekeeping, which they did admirably. Thank you again Holiday Day Inn UB for the lovely stay and would love to return there on our next visit to UB.

GGuest UserExcellent location in that it was near a lot of restaurants and stores. The rooms and bathroom were very clean! Shower stalls were very spacious! Owners were very kind and nice! I like how they serve us breakfast every morning. I also like how they had a kitchen for me to use if I had to cook my own food! Lot of tourist brochures to look at for someone who is interested in taking a city tour of Ulan Bator. They also had a treadmill to exercise, tv to watch, and a guitar to play, chairs and couches to sit if a guest needed it to. Will be more than happy to stay at this hotel again if I ever comeback to Ulan Bator!
GGuest UserThis hotel does not meet the standards of other Kempinskis. My family and I travel a lot, like A LOT, and we've been to many Kempinski hotels. The problems started with our booking, which we made directly through the hotels' website (not a 3rd party). The booking states a 12:00 check in, but the hotel told us this was a mistake and their check in time is 2:00 pm. They allowed us to check in at noon without a fee, but it took series of emails in advance. We also booked the breakfast meal package through the website. On our first morning in the breakfast lounge, we were told we didn't get breakfast because we didn't have the meal package. Once again, I had to pull out my reservation receipt and prove (in front of other guests) that we had paid for the breakfast. They of course accepted the receipt and realized they made an error, but it was another hassle we shouldn't have had to deal with. The day before our departure, we requested the hotel have a cab ready for us to catch our early flight (we needed to leave the hotel around 3:30 am). The young man behind the desk indicated he would do so and that we could expect a 100,000 tugrik (about 29.00 USD) flat rate for the taxi ride (this is also what we paid to get to the hotel). After spending the day on the town, buying souvenirs, and spending our local currency (but saving taxi money), we returned to the hotel. I double checked with a different guy at the desk that we would have a taxi waiting for us. Afterall, as the evening Front Desk Receptionist, it would be his job to call the taxi company. It was good I double checked, because the other guy hadn't taken action and hadn't passed along the request. Moreover, when the taxi arrived in the wee hours of the morning, we were told by the Front Desk Receptionist that it was actually a 200,000 tugrik charge (double!). We were also told the first ”receptionist” we had spoken to earlier in the day was actually a Bell Hop and we were informed that he wasn't even supposed to be working behind the counter. As a result, we had no choice but to withdraw additional local currency (taxi couldn't take a card) from the hotel Front Desk (for a nice fee) in order to pay the taxi. What's particularly irksome is that we had plenty of cash which we would have saved if we had simply been told the correct amount. There were other issues, but this review is already lengthy... Overall, we had a less than stellar experience at this Kempinski. If you're going to Ulaanbaatar, I'd recommend you stay elsewhere. If we ever go back we'll probably stay at the Shangri-la. It's closer to the airport as well as the heart of the city.
GGuest UserStayed here 3 different times while on a tour of Mongolia. Staff at front desk are friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable but air conditioning was very cold and could not adjust so finally had to just turn it off. Hotel is in great location a block from the big square and close to a large mall and cashmere store on the corner and another across the street. (Note: entrance to the mall is on second floor from the cashmere store on the corner outside of hotel and to the right). I had one major issue- I turned on my “do not disturb” light when we left for the day and when I returned that evening the light was off and my room had been made up. I advised the tour guide who said something to the front desk person and she responded that the room had only been entered to leave new bottles of water - so I guess if you have the do not disturb sign on they still enter to leave water? It was upsetting because they never addressed the issue of making up the room. The other two times we were only there for a night and things were OK. Room had amenities such as soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion as well as coffee and tea, but bring your own washcloth if you are used to using one. Also room has a safe. Breakfast buffet was good but not wonderful but it was the best we had out of all of the other places we stayed while in Mongolia. Hotel can also provide airport pick up and return for a fee if you contact them and advise arrival time and number of people and suitcases. Hotel is located about a one hour drive in normal traffic from airport and 20-30 min longer in heavy traffic.
GGuest UserWonderful hotel in excellent location within walking distance from the main square. Spacious fully equipped rooms, wonderful service, great bar on the first floor. On the downside I would mention the lack of bidet shower in the bathroom. The pool looks great, but rather shallow and water there a few degrees too cold.
GGuest UserI have traveled to many places far and wide, and NEVER expected to have one of the finest hotels I have every stayed in be in Mongolia! As part of my Mongolian Luxury Tours, I had THREE opportuinities to stay at the Blue Sky (arrival, return from Gobi desert, return from Western Mongolia) and each time was superb. The hotel is beautiful, and the rooms, service, and friendliness made each stay very wonderful and welcoming. You can not go wrong with this hotel. It is GREAT!!!
MMarlene_ChanI came through Ulaanbaatar last year for a horse riding trip last year, and stayed in Springs Hotel before we went on to our trip. Before i flew home, the operator put us up at the hotel again for the last night. I couldn't find my card key when i was checking out and was fined USD10 for it. I was told that if i come back again, i could get the money back. I smirked and said well the earliest i would be coming back would be next year. They said that was ok. Fast forward to this year. When i came back, they refused to return my $10 to me. They said i had to return within a month (Anyone would tell you that's a stupid condition because how could you expect a hotel guest (who is a foreigner) to come back within a month). The girls got their manager to speak to me. My friend said that even before the lady opened her mouth, she already had a look of determination (that she was not going to pay us). The manager, Tuul had an appalling mannerism. She spoke in a very argumentative and belligerent manner and insisted that they would not return my $10 to me. I explained that i was told it would be ok for me to return a year later.. If i hadn't been told that, i would not have bothered to bring the card back. She then asked for a pink slip saying i would have been given one. I said i wasn't * i really wasn't) but they saw my card, they found my records of having stayed there.. so they knew i would have been charged $10 (they also said I don't have proof they have my USD10).. She looked like she couldn't comprehend.. started raising her voice as she tried to stick to her stand of not returning my money to me. I got so fed up, i told her that she could keep my USD10. I am now posting this experience online because I think it's appalling that they refused to return my money to me even when the facts are very obvious. It's very sad for the hotel if they are trying to make money from door cards. In the first place, the cost price of such a card is less than USD1. I knpw because i have a lot of hotelier friends. So USD10 is blatant profiteering. No wonder they wouldn't return the money to me. Even when the facts are obvious. I got so angry i asked for the card back. they gave it back cos they rather keep the money (an acknowledgement they knew they had my money but just didn't want to give it back). Shame on you, Springs Hotel.
GGuest UserWonderful hotel, I recommend it! 10 out of 10! Cleaning every day and comfort in everything iits all just top class! In addition, free breakfast, and friendly staff. I really loved the service! I will be happy to stay here again when I ll be next time in Ulaanbaatar.
GGuest UserI made a reservation for 3 nights, but I arrived at 8am on the first day to leave my bag, but I heard I could check-in early so I left my bag in the room. He was very kind and pleasant. But when I got back around 9pm a female employee called me in and forced me to pay MNT10000 for early check-in. I said, You didn't tell me in the morning and I can't pay. Then she said, ”Then he who worked in the morning should pay instead of you.” It was also very unpleasant of her to say this to me. She was so unkind.
GGuest UserThe Flower Hotel has 180 rooms and is very popular with local, Asian and Russian travelers. My room was very large, the bathroom was also and there was a bathtub. Room service was confusing, sometimes lacked toilet paper, some other thing. The facilities were good, but they came into the years and without much snack. The bed was very good, air conditioning worked. The Indian and Japanese local in the house I personally found moderate and overpriced, the Korean on the cross is fantastic. Breakfast is versatile, but unfortunately in a jewelry windowless room. Very difficult: the indoor rooms close shortly after 21:00. I didn't understand that at all - often I came there just from the work and finally worried about the corner of the mini market. The staff is very careful. Location: The hang down is the shopping mall Emart with mostly Korean range and large food department - closes at 22:00. At foot you can reach something - sometimes faster than in the taxi through the bust. What was really nice: from the lobby to the room you have to get down a stairway to one gang, then again a stairway to the lift. As I always took several baggage to work, it was my daily sports exercise - although not rarely an hotel staffer hurried and helped. But all in all I felt very well.
MmikenmauryaBearing in mind that English is not one of their native languages (which was way better than my Mongolian to be sure) the staff was as helpful and patient as they could be with me. I stayed at the hotel for a week for business (in January, with -25'C weather - not my first choice!), and as it was close to my work place, it was ideal for me. Things I really liked were: the heated bathroom floors, the bath / shower options, the big towels, the comfort level of temperature in the rooms (I never felt cold in the hotel, which I was amazed about), the gym and the breakfast each day, and the staff bringing water whenever needed (the tap water is not considered potable). I took advantage of the airport pick-up and drop-off, as well as the drop-off to the work place, which was most convenient. I recommend this hotel to others considering staying here, if the location works for you.
