The stay was average. Front desk staff speaks good English. I visited in late January. The room was way too warm for my liking so my sleep wasn't too good. The air conditioning doesn't work in winter and lowering down the temperature takes forever. The only way to cool down is to open the window, but with the air quality being very bad - not advisable. I ordered room service from the Irish place upstairs, but the guy there does not speak good English so instead of pumpkin soup I got some meat cream soup. The thing I did not like and which kinda spoiled my morning plans as I had an arranged meeting, was the fact that the breakfast which was supposed to start at 7am, was 30 minutes late. If you tell people it's from 7am, then please stick to it. No other complaints. Oh, maybe just the omnipresent smell of coal in the entire city, thus also in rooms, but I guess it's just me, a visitor not being used to it.

I stayed there over 7 nights. On the first day I arrived at 12 noon and the check-in time was 2.00 pm. After a 13 hour flight and car ride from the airport to the hotel I just wanted to get into the room and have a hot shower. Usually in all other cities and hotels in Asia, they would have allowed me to check in earlier if they had a room. In this case, they had a room but wanted to charge me the rate of 30% for that two hour stay. I paid for it as I was in no mood to argue over it and as my Mongolian business partners were with me and I did not want to cause a scene.
The hotel toilet had a smell from the drainage pipe and they could not clear the smell even after I had complained. The service staff was generally pleasant although some of the restaurant staff need some further training. At the Chinese restaurant when I asked one of the waiter to change to a private room after being seated at the normal dining hall which was noisy, the waiter replied that he was busy. And asked me to go to the reception. Perhaps they are still a bit rough at the edges.
Also, the 24 hour room service does not exist as is promoted in their brochure in the room. I had to go to the front desk and then I was directed to go to the coffee house to make my order. I asked why nobody picked up the 24 hour room service line and the front desk asked me what number I dialed. I replied 3222 as was in the brochure in the room and he told me it was 3150. I told him its 3222 as per the room brochure but he insisted it was 3150. I went back to my room to double check after placing the order at the coffee house and it was 3222 in the brochure. So either they have a wrong print or they have not updated with a new number.
I was seated in the cafe many times and I noticed a gentleman who would go up to sign for a coffee at the cafe. I assumed he must be a senior staff of the hotel. If he was indeed a senior staff I thought he would be friendly enough to smile to the guests at the cafe and assume some if not all the guests are also guests of the hotel.

I have traveled to many places far and wide, and NEVER expected to have one of the finest hotels I have every stayed in be in Mongolia! As part of my Mongolian Luxury Tours, I had THREE opportuinities to stay at the Blue Sky (arrival, return from Gobi desert, return from Western Mongolia) and each time was superb. The hotel is beautiful, and the rooms, service, and friendliness made each stay very wonderful and welcoming. You can not go wrong with this hotel. It is GREAT!!!

Stayed here 3 different times while on a tour of Mongolia. Staff at front desk are friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable but air conditioning was very cold and could not adjust so finally had to just turn it off. Hotel is in great location a block from the big square and close to a large mall and cashmere store on the corner and another across the street. (Note: entrance to the mall is on second floor from the cashmere store on the corner outside of hotel and to the right). I had one major issue- I turned on my “do not disturb” light when we left for the day and when I returned that evening the light was off and my room had been made up. I advised the tour guide who said something to the front desk person and she responded that the room had only been entered to leave new bottles of water - so I guess if you have the do not disturb sign on they still enter to leave water? It was upsetting because they never addressed the issue of making up the room. The other two times we were only there for a night and things were OK. Room had amenities such as soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion as well as coffee and tea, but bring your own washcloth if you are used to using one. Also room has a safe. Breakfast buffet was good but not wonderful but it was the best we had out of all of the other places we stayed while in Mongolia. Hotel can also provide airport pick up and return for a fee if you contact them and advise arrival time and number of people and suitcases. Hotel is located about a one hour drive in normal traffic from airport and 20-30 min longer in heavy traffic.

We had two stays, one for one night and one for three after attending the Eagle Festival in western Mongolia. Arrival and check in was smooth and efficient. The front desk was able to hold a bag for us for the three days we spent away at the festival. We had breakfast included which was an easy way to start each day. The Nadam restaurant had Oktoberfest going on the night we arrived and we ate there again one other night. Service there was a bit slow to absent for both nights. The rooms were pleasant, roomy and clean. Beds were comfortable and there was a soft and a firm pillow for each person. We didn't have any special requests although I'm sure they would have been accommodated. The showers were roomy and water pressure/temp control very good. Wi-Fi was stable and strong throughout the hotel property. No password so connecting was easy. The hotel complex is located in a very convenient location which is great once you're there but can take some time coming from outside (tours, airport etc). We were able to walk to most attractions from the hotel and dine/drink in the area within walking distance. Overall pleasant staff, comfortable rooms and convenient location. Well worth considering while staying in UB.

We arrived with a friend at the hotel on 10/29/22 at 7 am, we were tired after the train and even though the check-in was at 11 am, we were immediately settled by a beautiful girl at the reception. I really liked the room on the 7th floor, there are bottles of free water on the table, tea and coffee, shower accessories in the bathroom, everything is free and by the way is replenished every day. The room was also cleaned every day. Everything is standard in the room, two large beds, a tea table, a kettle, a refrigerator, a TV (by the way, there are many Russian-language channels), there is a safe, which is very convenient. For breakfast buffet, quite a variety of breakfasts, very friendly girls cook omelettes;) Very good soundproofing in the hotel, very quiet at night. What I want to especially note is that at the reception we met a girl named Miga, she speaks Russian very well, she quickly settled us on the first day. Miga and then helped us a lot on all issues. With excursions, with a taxi, with purchases of Medicines, products, and even where to buy something. She gave her personal phone number and of course we constantly used her kindness. She is a golden person, because she never refused, but suggested where it was cheaper and how it would be more convenient. Miga, just because of meeting you, I really want to come back to Mongolia, to your hotel. I recommend the hotel, value for money, well, excellent staff! Thanks for the hospitality;)

I loved this hotel because the staff were so universally friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was just lovely. I had two great meals there. Good value for money too. My one big complaint is the room was way too hot. It was 33°C. The air conditioning didn't work. The only advice I could be given was open the window. The 3 inches it opened. Nothing worked and it did make sleep difficult. Such a shame as it puts me off rebooking for October when I go again. There is an excellent ”Walking Street” opposite the hotel with restaurants and bars, so I'll be sad to change to a different hotel. Fix the room temperature, please!

This hotel does not meet the standards of other Kempinskis. My family and I travel a lot, like A LOT, and we've been to many Kempinski hotels. The problems started with our booking, which we made directly through the hotels' website (not a 3rd party). The booking states a 12:00 check in, but the hotel told us this was a mistake and their check in time is 2:00 pm. They allowed us to check in at noon without a fee, but it took series of emails in advance. We also booked the breakfast meal package through the website. On our first morning in the breakfast lounge, we were told we didn't get breakfast because we didn't have the meal package. Once again, I had to pull out my reservation receipt and prove (in front of other guests) that we had paid for the breakfast. They of course accepted the receipt and realized they made an error, but it was another hassle we shouldn't have had to deal with. The day before our departure, we requested the hotel have a cab ready for us to catch our early flight (we needed to leave the hotel around 3:30 am). The young man behind the desk indicated he would do so and that we could expect a 100,000 tugrik (about 29.00 USD) flat rate for the taxi ride (this is also what we paid to get to the hotel). After spending the day on the town, buying souvenirs, and spending our local currency (but saving taxi money), we returned to the hotel. I double checked with a different guy at the desk that we would have a taxi waiting for us. Afterall, as the evening Front Desk Receptionist, it would be his job to call the taxi company. It was good I double checked, because the other guy hadn't taken action and hadn't passed along the request. Moreover, when the taxi arrived in the wee hours of the morning, we were told by the Front Desk Receptionist that it was actually a 200,000 tugrik charge (double!). We were also told the first ”receptionist” we had spoken to earlier in the day was actually a Bell Hop and we were informed that he wasn't even supposed to be working behind the counter. As a result, we had no choice but to withdraw additional local currency (taxi couldn't take a card) from the hotel Front Desk (for a nice fee) in order to pay the taxi. What's particularly irksome is that we had plenty of cash which we would have saved if we had simply been told the correct amount. There were other issues, but this review is already lengthy... Overall, we had a less than stellar experience at this Kempinski. If you're going to Ulaanbaatar, I'd recommend you stay elsewhere. If we ever go back we'll probably stay at the Shangri-la. It's closer to the airport as well as the heart of the city.

The location is a bit on the eastern outskirts of the city, a bit far from the city center (about 30-40 minutes' walk). The nearby skills are good, including CU, GS25, Carrefour... There is a bus stop next to it, but it's hard to wait for the bus. Don't trust the bus schedule on Google Maps. It's a bit inconvenient that the rooms all have shared bathrooms. They are divided into bunk beds and independent capsules, but you can't avoid hearing other people's breath. The breakfast provided is very considerate, and it will help travelers reserve it. It also provides a lot of customized itinerary services, allowing travelers to experience a different Mongolia.

Excellent
GGuest UserI stayed at Edelweiss for a total of 7 nights as a solo traveler. It is considered centrally location but it is actually a little west of central, still a great location. Because of the traffic congestion, walking is the best way to get around (I averaged 2-9 miles a day). The rooms were clean, 2 bottles of water provided daily. The reception and housekeeping staff very nice, always available. The restaurant cafe is run by a different company/owner. It feels like a lounge and is nice place to hang out with glass of wine after long day touring. It is also popular with locals. It was closed on Sunday. The pasta dish & pizza were excellent. The complimentary breakfast buffet included tea & coffee (with warm milk for your coffee), juice drink, a very yummy cold oatmeal concoction with apples, yogurt, fresh fruit, eggs with meat to order. The breakfast coffee was subpar, but the restaurant served a great cappuccino (approx US $2.332). I didn't see an elevator; all rooms are on the 2nd & 3rd level. The hotel is tastefully decorated and the art on the wall is for sell. Just 1-2 blocks west are two restaurants that I highly recommend: Italian restaurant Albero's (on the east side of the Mika Hotel) and Lonsdale Art Lounge. There is no airport transfer service. I took a shuttle from airport for US$10.00. For my return to airport, it cost me $20.00. Allow minimum 1 hour. The street names in UB are confusing with poor signage. I consider the hotel to be on Embassy Rd., not Chin Van whatever Street.
GGuest UserGreat location friendly staff and a clean and tidy room. I was always greeted by friendly helpful staff each day The rooms are safe in a relatively quiet location but close to the centre of the City. If you are here on business or pleasure a simple fuss free stay be it business or pleasure. If I have the good fortune to come back I will stay here again and certainly recommend it
MMarlene_ChanI came through Ulaanbaatar last year for a horse riding trip last year, and stayed in Springs Hotel before we went on to our trip. Before i flew home, the operator put us up at the hotel again for the last night. I couldn't find my card key when i was checking out and was fined USD10 for it. I was told that if i come back again, i could get the money back. I smirked and said well the earliest i would be coming back would be next year. They said that was ok. Fast forward to this year. When i came back, they refused to return my $10 to me. They said i had to return within a month (Anyone would tell you that's a stupid condition because how could you expect a hotel guest (who is a foreigner) to come back within a month). The girls got their manager to speak to me. My friend said that even before the lady opened her mouth, she already had a look of determination (that she was not going to pay us). The manager, Tuul had an appalling mannerism. She spoke in a very argumentative and belligerent manner and insisted that they would not return my $10 to me. I explained that i was told it would be ok for me to return a year later.. If i hadn't been told that, i would not have bothered to bring the card back. She then asked for a pink slip saying i would have been given one. I said i wasn't * i really wasn't) but they saw my card, they found my records of having stayed there.. so they knew i would have been charged $10 (they also said I don't have proof they have my USD10).. She looked like she couldn't comprehend.. started raising her voice as she tried to stick to her stand of not returning my money to me. I got so fed up, i told her that she could keep my USD10. I am now posting this experience online because I think it's appalling that they refused to return my money to me even when the facts are very obvious. It's very sad for the hotel if they are trying to make money from door cards. In the first place, the cost price of such a card is less than USD1. I knpw because i have a lot of hotelier friends. So USD10 is blatant profiteering. No wonder they wouldn't return the money to me. Even when the facts are obvious. I got so angry i asked for the card back. they gave it back cos they rather keep the money (an acknowledgement they knew they had my money but just didn't want to give it back). Shame on you, Springs Hotel.
8855fabiano855Excellent!! We stayed just one night there, unfortunately. Big and very well-equipped room and bathroom!! Great buffet breakfast included!! Staff very kind!! The only problem is the location, not really very close to the main attractions of UB. But...
DDeborahI usually hold off before posting these things but I'm hot and irritable so here it is and you can sort through it if you want to know details.
The air conditioner was broken in my room and he seemed to be saying that in all the rooms they were broken in some way. Either blowing air but it wasn't cold or cold but hardly blowing and besides he couldn't change my room. So while I'm doing the review, you can't get hot water in the shower. It gets briefly almost there and then cools. So no way to take a long shower or a hot bath. There is a lamp but it's unplugged. Because there is only two outlets next to each other in one place. When I unplugged The TV etc and plugged in the cute lamp it turned out the lamp flashes briefly and then doesn't work. The bulb? Oh, and then Wi-Fi stopped working and said it was start again when network quality improved. And someone had made noodles in the hot pot and it was partially scrubbed but not completely so my tea (not provided) tasted faintly of chicken soup. Other than Wi-Fi, hot water (drinking and bath) and air conditioning it was quaint and nice. Bathrobes and monogram towels. A down duvet in down pillows. In the mattress you can kind of feel the springs but they seem to have the same mattress everywhere from the hotels down to hostels so I don't know that good ones are available. And everything was clean including the carpet but did smell a little of smoke. So it's kind of like a four-star hotel and in some ways the same as a cheap guest house. And inexpensive by American standards. So even though it costs double or more then the guest houses it still cost less than a Motel 6. The best thing is you can walk to the Palace of the Dohg Khan, restaurants, grocery stores, etc and it is a place where, as my cab driver ”people in Ulaabatar live, not a tourist place”. And easy to get to because you don't have to fully enter city traffic. And I had a lively view of the real life going on from my seventh story window.
GGuest UserThe Flower Hotel has 180 rooms and is very popular with local, Asian and Russian travelers. My room was very large, the bathroom was also and there was a bathtub. Room service was confusing, sometimes lacked toilet paper, some other thing. The facilities were good, but they came into the years and without much snack. The bed was very good, air conditioning worked. The Indian and Japanese local in the house I personally found moderate and overpriced, the Korean on the cross is fantastic. Breakfast is versatile, but unfortunately in a jewelry windowless room. Very difficult: the indoor rooms close shortly after 21:00. I didn't understand that at all - often I came there just from the work and finally worried about the corner of the mini market. The staff is very careful. Location: The hang down is the shopping mall Emart with mostly Korean range and large food department - closes at 22:00. At foot you can reach something - sometimes faster than in the taxi through the bust. What was really nice: from the lobby to the room you have to get down a stairway to one gang, then again a stairway to the lift. As I always took several baggage to work, it was my daily sports exercise - although not rarely an hotel staffer hurried and helped. But all in all I felt very well.
PPENGCHANGThe location is not too far from the city center, there is breakfast, from 7:00 to 11:00, it is not bad, there are juice, yogurt, fruit, vegetables, the place is full of beef and mutton in Ulaanbaatar, there is a swimming pool
GGuest UserWhen we arrived at Ulan Bator, we decided to stay in this hotel. Overcoming the language barrier found out that it was necessary to book through the booking. As the administrator did not speak Russian and our English was very chrome the risk of staying without housing))). The hotel owner came to the revenue, who communicates well in our language and who offered us a room at a good price. It turns out The hotel has a good experience. Breakfast is included, room cleaning, free parking, Wi-Fi, safe, close to the city center. It is definitely recommended to stay in this hotel.
GGuest UserThe room is large, with a living room, a bedroom, an open kitchen and bathroom, and a large balcony. The view outside the window is also very good. It is a hotel very close to the airport, but international flights are now moved to the new airport. So the hotel still takes half an hour to forty minutes by car
MmikenmauryaBearing in mind that English is not one of their native languages (which was way better than my Mongolian to be sure) the staff was as helpful and patient as they could be with me. I stayed at the hotel for a week for business (in January, with -25'C weather - not my first choice!), and as it was close to my work place, it was ideal for me. Things I really liked were: the heated bathroom floors, the bath / shower options, the big towels, the comfort level of temperature in the rooms (I never felt cold in the hotel, which I was amazed about), the gym and the breakfast each day, and the staff bringing water whenever needed (the tap water is not considered potable). I took advantage of the airport pick-up and drop-off, as well as the drop-off to the work place, which was most convenient. I recommend this hotel to others considering staying here, if the location works for you.
