Jay’s hospitality was amazing. So caring and nice. If you’re planning on visiting tulum I definitely recommend staying at this hotel it was very calm and quite. Everyone was very friendly but Jay definitely outshined everyone. 10/10 experience

I've been procrastinating this review because Hotel Bardo is so absolutely wonderful that it's nearly impossible to fully put into words. I remember turning the corner of the registration building and gasping because the main area of the hotel is so heckin' gorgeous. Our personal villa was better than we could have imagined - that shower, though! We used our floor to ceiling sliding glass doors to keep out the humidity during the day and opened them at night to listen to the sounds of the jungle. The plunge pool was a welcome sight upon returning from cenote or taco-hunting adventures. Ya'll. The SERVICE! Zocimo, Nicole, and Mara went above and beyond in every aspect of our stay. Zocimo is a brilliant (seriously) bartender. It's pretty obvious that he cares deeply about his craft. I recommend striking up a conversation with him about mezcal - he's very knowledgeable. Also, if you spend some time near the bar one night, you could experience some of his "zocimo originales". Nicole and Mara clearly cared about their guests deeply. They were personable, helpful, insightful, and tailored our experience based on conversations throughout our stay. In addition to the three I mentioned by name, the whole crew was so attentive and kind. It felt like we had an (almost) 24/7 butler service because room service was available from 7:30 - 23:00 every day and they would bring us anything from a bottle of champagne to a bucket of ice to cappuccinos in the morning. My perfect Bardo day: wake up and 10/10 get at least 3 cappuccinos plus the breakfast bread tray ordered to the villa, sit by plunge pool and enjoy the sounds of the jungle while reading a book (see photos), maybe move the book / jungle enjoyment to the hammock outside of our villa, take a nap, head to the main pool for some cooling off and gin, dinner at the restaurant or have it brought over to the bar area, play billiards in the copal-scented, candle-filled ambiance of Bardo at night (it's like a completely different place after dark), and finally, return to the villa to open the doors wide and fall asleep to the jungle sounds. Oh! One more thing: make sure to get a hot stone massage while you're there. It was the best I've ever had. Can I go back already???? <3

Quite simply one of the best hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in. Food was excellent, both room service and in the restaurant. Service was excellent. Not by the beach but absolutely stunning. If I return to Tulum I will certainly stay here again.

We're locals that love Bardo's restaurant, bar--and now Spa 13. Bardo has curated one of the most beloved spaces in Tulum for us: scrumptious Yucatan-Mexican cuisine at the romantic restaurant, the pool table in the jungle of their bar, the serene excellence of their spa.

My wife and I have just returned from a 9-night stay at the Bardo. The hotel champions the concept of 'transition' and does so by offering seclusion and tranquility if desired (for example, each room has its own small pool and loungers and there are no in-room TVs nor phones). Equally, it facilitates ready access to the many attractions in and close to Tulum for those who wish to explore Mayan culture or just want to lie by the pretty pool in the sun with a cocktail. A stunning beach is a short distance by taxi (sadly, Tulum has the most expensive taxis I have ever experienced but, on the one hand, this is not the hotel's fault and, on the other, most things are quite close). The hotel staff are very helpful and their concierge service exceptional. I rarely have fruit for breakfast, never eat plain yoghurt and run a mile from granola but, put them together at the Bardo and you'll start to understand 'transition' in a small way. The smoothies - Kali is my favourite - are also very good. More traditional breakfast choices are available together with great Mexican options like Chilaquiles. During our stay we had dinner and snacks at both the Bardo and it's sister hotel, Una Vida, next door. The food was very good and the service impeccable. If you are more spiritual in nature and are looking for a very high end retreat, the hotel offers Yoga each morning; my wife loved it. Unusually, there is a Temazcal which I can best describe as a semi-religious event in a Mexican sauna (hot lava rocks in a small igloo with chanting led by a Shaman). My wife adored it and I enjoyed the experience but not as much as floating gently through the mangroves between lagoons or the visit to spectacular Chichen Itza ruins or the underground pools called Cenotes. We loved the hotel and its staff and would return tomorrow.

Hotel Bardo is a wonderful spot for a relaxing, jungle vacation. My husband and I came here for our honeymoon, and blown away. First, the rooms are so beautiful, beds are very comfortable, and it was fun to have an outdoor shower and private plunge pool. It was a nice cool temperature for how hot it was! Second, the amenities were also beautiful. The pool is a little jungle oasis, the yoga hut is cool and different types of yoga daily, the property is stunning, and the food is SO good and on the Michelin Guide. What really made Hotel Bardo special was the people- Manu, Victor, Alan, and Leo are amazing people that radiate so much light and goodness. They are a ton of fun! Also, the front desk staff were great checking in everyday to make sure you have everything you need. This place is special- don’t pass it up!

I stayed at the Bardo for five nights. We were greeted by the nicest staff at reception and the exceptional service continued through our stay. The room was more than spacious and lots of places to lounge like the huge sofa and an outside private pool. There is no television so it’s great to switch off (but bring a tablet if you must - the WiFi is perfect with high speed connectivity). The hotel has a great restaurant and the waiters around the pool are very attentive but not too overbearing to make you feel awkward - always a smile on their face and really great to chat with. The pool was quiet most days (but may have been just the time we visited!) - some tasty cocktails on the menu at the bar. The manager was kind enough to let us use the spa for a couples retreat which I would throughly recommend - so relaxing and a perfect way to make a trip.

The pictures did no justice to the property you have to see it for yourself, simply amazing. The staff attentiveness exceed my expectations, they go above and beyond for the guests. I have no complaints. If you would like to getaway from the hassle of tulum, to relax and unwind. This is the place to go. I can't wait to go back.
