Red Roof PLUS+ Austin South – Airport
8.3 (116 reviews)

Red Roof PLUS+ Austin South – Airport ★★

📍 4701 I-35, Austin

"To say my experience was horrible is an understatement. The hallway smelled like wet dog so bad it made my partner throw up, as well as the smell coming from the AC unit in our room. The room looked nothing like the online photos. Then the toilet tank flooded overnight because of the flap being stuck open and the entire room floor was literally under water. All of my clothes and belongings were soaked with toilet water. The manager didn’t even believe me over the phone and sent a maintenance worker to my room to argue with me about why the toilet wasn’t broken. Unbelievable. Not a single apology or any kind of reimbursement was even offered. All around a very nasty place. Not to mention the whining dogs left alone in just about every room on the first floor. I do not recommend staying here lol."

Holiday Inn Express & Suites AUSTIN DOWNTOWN - UNIVERSITY by IHG ★★★
"1. There was no airport shuttle service, even though it was advertised. When I arrived and called, they said there wasn't one. A taxi cost over $90, which was infuriating. 2. The hotel's location is close to the Texas State Capitol, but the area downstairs is truly awful. All the storefronts are boarded up, and there are homeless people on every street for several blocks around. When I first arrived, I honestly wondered if I'd landed in a slum; I didn't dare leave the hotel on the first night. 3. The hotel doesn't offer free parking; it's $45 a day. We rented a car and later realized that other places just a few miles away were much cheaper. It made us understand how wealthy this city is, but our first time at this hotel truly felt like a 'city of doom.' I've never left so many comments before. 4. The hotel parking lot uses a scan-and-pay system that's incredibly confusing and frustrating. We had a 9 AM flight and left at 6 AM, but spent over 20 minutes dealing with the parking, which was maddening. We frequently stay at hotels from this brand, but honestly, I'd say avoid this one if you can. Two stars are even too generous. To top it off, the hotel food is terrible, and there's nowhere to eat nearby, not to mention all the homeless people."

Lakeway Resort and Spa ★★★★
"The location, view and spa services were great!  However,  the room had an AC that would continually drip into the sink due to a build up of condensation and there were no streaming services.  Overall, the hotel could use updates in the aesthetics and upkeep of the hotel in the rooms and dining area.  Seems a little stuck in time.  We expected more from a resort."

Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin ★★★★
"Good location in the downtown area. The hotel is new. You need to become a hotel member (register at the counter) to receive complimentary water, which I didn’t know on my first night. Unfortunately, the staff didn’t bother to explain that membership was required, even for something as basic as water, when I initially declined to register. Lastly, I found it hard to sleep at night due to the noise from the AC, as I’m very sensitive to sound. Overall, though, my experience was pretty good."
