Hotel Kikuyu ★★

📍 4-25 Shinkoku-cho, Tono

"I was extremely satisfied with the service provided by Hotel Kikuyu. The room was well-equipped and offered Wi-Fi. The bathroom provided toiletries (towels, shampoo, and shower gel). The meals were thoughtful and delicious every day. The owners were kind and friendly, which made me, a foreign traveler new to Japan, feel instantly at ease. The hotel's location is excellent, right next to the train station, with bus stops in front of the station serving almost every route, providing easy access to various parts of Tono City. The tourism association is nearby, making it convenient to inquire about tourist information and transportation, allowing me to wait patiently for my journey. Thank you so much to Hotel Kikuyu for their help during my stay. I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in Tono."

Aeria Tohno ★★★

📍 1-10 Shinmachi, Tono

"The storyteller of Tono Monogatari, which is held at 18:00 ~ 18:30, was very interesting. It was also very interesting that the story changed depending on the storyteller, and it was comfortable enough to be insufficient in 30 minutes. The room is large and easy to use ☺️"

Lien Tono ★★★

📍 kamigou hirakura1-36, Tono

"I recently had the pleasure of staying at Lien Tono, and it was a truly remarkable experience. Daiji-san, the host, was exceptional—his warmth and hospitality made the stay unforgettable. The surroundings are beautiful, and the traditional Japanese house provided an authentic and peaceful retreat. I highly recommend Lien Tono for anyone seeking a unique and tranquil getaway."

📍 7-175-2 Kashiwazaki, Tsuchibuchi-cho, Tono

"Dinner and a sauna bath are included, and it costs less than 10,000 yen per person, so I think it's good value for money. You can also stay in a curved house. I stayed here on a Sunday during my trip to Tohoku. Details below. - Use the shoe locker. When you hand the key to the front desk, you will receive a room key (not a card) and a bath locker key. - You cannot use the roller until the tires have been wiped down. - To check in, tell them the check-out time for the next day and pay by card. - It seems they are short-staffed. I wanted to use the shoe locker key during my morning walk, so I pressed the front bell, but I waited more than 5 minutes (maybe because it was a closed day). - When you check out, you return the room and bath locker keys. - You can park inside the park. There is plenty of space. No parking fee required. - We used the "Hayachine" (Japanese-style room). - It was late October, but the heater under the window was on and it was hot. The switch was hard to find, but it was on the left side.・The garden trees can be seen outside the window, which is quite a view. ・I chose the dinner plan because I didn't think there was anywhere to eat outside in Tono. ・The portions were modest for an inn, which I liked. Grilled fish (iwana), ceramic grill, sashimi, sesame tofu, vinegared dishes, hittsumi soup, dessert ・Rice and water (tea) are self-service. ・After seeing the photos on the website, I refrained. I bought breakfast (bread) at a convenience store. ・There is a low-temperature sauna and steam bath. The steam bath was ginger steam, probably because of the season. ・There is no cold bath, but a private shower. ・It is said that it is best to go after 9pm because there are day-trippers, but at around 8pm we had it all to ourselves. ・In the morning, we strolled around the curved house and the garden. It was rundown, but there was still a decent view. I guess it is a privilege for guests staying overnight. I like taking photos, so I enjoyed it for about an hour. ・Because the facility is based on a water purification plant, there are many water facilities such as a pond and waterfall in the garden, a water wheel, an aquarium inside the building, and a water distribution pond next to the parking lot. ・The floor was heated."

Hotel Kikuyu ★★
"The staff at the counter were incredibly kind! When I left my luggage, they said, "We'll leave it in your room for you," and when I checked in and entered the room, it was so warm, which I really appreciated 😖 When I checked out, they even said, "There's snow, so please be careful," which warmed my heart 💖"

"Incredibly beautiful tradional japanese house. The host, dai treated us like family and upon arriving we took a walk to the local shrine which was only 100 steps away. Dai also helped us set up a campfire and even ran us and outdoor bath!. If im ever back in Tono I am most definitely retuning!"

"It's good that there is an aquarium, but it is often empty or has only a label and no fish, and is poorly maintained. The food is disappointing. It seems to be aimed at old men who drink in the Showa era, and is not modern. There are too many sake snacks like salted fish and fish paste, and no healthy side dishes like vegetables or tofu. I ordered Genghis Khan, but it came with a set of sashimi, a one-person hotpot, and steamed dishes like shumai. But the Genghis Khan was lame. The balance was off. Even though it was privatized, the taste remains poor."
