Enjoyable stay, staff were friendly (not so on previous visits) and a clean spacious room. Nice welcome, nice atmosphere will definitely return. Stayed in Room 12 on the top floor. The new manager is pleasant and professional. Happy to recommend.

On arrival there was no-one on reception and we were greeted initially by someone from the adjoining bar area. The hotel has no car park so you have to use limited street parking and then find a pay and display car park. There were no complaints with the room which was good and had all the usual amenities with the exception of a anti slip shower mat.At breakfast we were shown a continental buffet which was laid out. On requesting a English breakfast I was told no cooked breakfast could be provided, this was despite the fact that on the table the previous evening was a menu describing a choice of breakfast which included a 'Ormand' full English breakfast. On complaining I was given a refund but I have never before been to a English hotel and not been offered a English breakfast.

As others have written, this hotel could be good - but there are just so many failings which make a stay here disappointing. A bath mat was missing. Towels are fine but are not generously sized. Wifi was good. It was frustrating that the reception desk was not manned more often - especially annoying at check out time as there was no one to say 'How was your stay? ' (I am not sure if they are interested in feedback because if they were, they would make sure there was someone present at check out time) But the hugest disappoinment was the lack of cooked breakfast. This was a surprise - I had no idea that I was booked into somewhere that did not serve any cooked breakfast. It then became apparent that cooked breakfasts stopped a week ago. I felt very sorry for the waiter who had to deal with many unhappy customers - none of which were aware of this change. The continental breakfast that was served was not very appealing - everything just seemed cheap. (So disappointing especially as there is a fantastic deli/bakery just up the road serving amazing croissants) For the price that is charged, there should be a cooked breakfast offered. I would imagine that all the other hotels in Tetbury offer a cooked breakfast. For this reason, I would not return.

The garden is really nice, the fish finger sandwich was nice and beer pretty good. Downside is they add 10% service charge without asking and despite having to order at the bar and no menus at the table so you have to go twice. No one behind the bar when I went to order. Service charge ol fo a full meal is understandable for for s lunchtime sandwich...

What a lovely hotel, I've never had a nicer bedroom , beautifully decorated and clean as a pin, very comfortable bed , stylish but also practical furniture. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit with a very nice meal , particularly looked after by Jurgen who enhanced our stay generally . It was very busy at dinner and there was a lot of waiting for food but so charmingly apologised for we understood how hard they were trying. We would certainly come again.

We have just returned from an overnight visit to The Ormond and what a delightful place to stay! We stayed here as we were visiting Westonbirt Arboretum and booked direct with the hotel using the Westonbirt Special Offer. We arrived about an hour before check in (3pm) and were warmly welcomed by Livia. She asked if we would like to order some lunch and we opted for the ciabattas - oh my! They were absolutely delicious! Stuffed full of ham and cheese (me) and chicken and bacon (hubby). The presentation was beautiful and we devoured them in quick time! We were then shown to our room by Octavian who couldn’t have been more helpful. The room (7) was gorgeous and overlooked the courtyard. Lovely big sofa, comfortable bed, tea and coffee and enormous bathroom with plentiful amenities. Octavian warned us there was a large party of 12 for dinner so there might be a delay so did we want to book in slightly earlier which we did (6.45 pm). When we arrived for dinner he apologised again and kept checking to make sure we were okay (which we were). In the end we only waited for about 20 minutes which is nothing! The food was amazing! I had the handmade vegetarian pizza and hubby the fish and chips (well, lets just say it was the size of a whale lol!). He declared it one of the best meals he has ever had. My pizza was divine. The chef makes the dough fresh every day and when its gone, thats it. Best pizza ever! We had an incredibly good nights sleep and went down for breakfast at 8am and what a treat! We both had the full English which was cooked to perfection and more than enough for us! There is also a continental breakfast bar and menu options. The young ladies at breakfast were so helpful and attentive! When we checked out Livia remembered that as part of our package we were due to have tea and cakes on arrival which we didn’t take up. She then put together cakes and takeaway drinks for our journey - so thoughtful! A hint for visitors - talk to the locals in the bar! We met a man who had worked at Westonbirt Arboretum for a number of years and he shared some lovely stories about the place! If you are in two minds about booking - don’t hesitate! Not only is the hotel lovely but the staff really make this place exceptional! It is privately owned so I would say to the owner “well done!” - your hotel is wonderful but the staff are what really makes the place special. Thank you for a memorable stay!

Bar, restaurant, covered courtyard and garden areas were fine but stairs, corridors and room were a bit tired with a high level dust/clean very overdue in our room (No.15). Reception was pokey and unmanned when booking in and out, had to go searching which gave a bad impression. Breakfast is mediocre with no fruit option, they said it was too expensive to provide. Need to note there is no parking , you need to use public parking which is chargeable around the corner or free 10 minutes walk away, there website does not make this clear. Credit card details taken when booking in to "confirm identity" but used to settle restaurant bill adding an optional 10% service charge both without our knowledge or approval - Worrying!!!!

The check-in area should have given us a clue as to the rest of the stay. It was a pokey little desk at the bottom of the stairs. Our room was at the very top of the building with sloping ceiling which resulted in quite a few bumps on the head. One bedlight did not work, sheet and quilt were way too small for the bed, quilt not even reaching edge of mattress and sheet did not even cover bed, leaving mattress totally exposed. Very comfortable bed otherwise, apart from battle for quilt!!!!!Very poor television channel selection, no BBC 1. Reception was rarely manned...... ...even on check-out. Long wait in dining room to even be offered a menu. Would I recommend, no.....touch of Fawlty Towers!!!!!
