I guess fairly typical of a non-chain UK country hotel. Everything from the carpets to the shower cubicles look as if they've been there since 1973, and it’s time for an update. Double bed was the smallest I’ve slept in for a long time, pillows desperately need replacing. No aircon, but fan in the room was OK for the ambient temps. We had a snack lunch on arrival which was sort of OK, but please use butter in sandwiches not margarine! Breakfast took an age to arrive, but waiter was very apologetic about the wait. I suspect they only had one member of staff in the kitchen. As a place to stick your head down for a night, acceptable, but you wouldn't want to have to endure an extended stay here. Note very narrow entrance to car park at rear of hotel if you have a wide car. Also, if you need to get somewhere, book your taxis ages in advance (as we did) or you’ve got no chance of getting one at peak times.
