Quest Taupo

Not the greatest stay of place. Close to township however. Customer service isn’t very warm and room had an unpleasant scent. No outdoor area to enjoy the facility and wifi is not very reliable. Average room

Stayed here for 4 nights whilst hiking the Tongariro crossing and had a nice stay. The location is nice and quiet but still close to shops (and pak n save). Well appointed rooms with full kitchen and washing drying. Bed was comfortable and the staff were friendly and gave us good tips. When we checked in late on a Saturday the remote check in was smooth through the lockbox.

I checked in after hours to my room and the smell was unbearable. In all my years of travel, I have rarely ever asked to change a room. I believe the place was full that night. The after-hours manager was not over-friendly and didn't bother to check the smell. She made a phone call and then went to the after-hours key box and switched my key for someone else's who was due to come in later. The next room I went into stunk of cigarette smoke but that was way better than the first room. I was staying with a group it was just easier for me not to leave the hotel. As I was moving my luggage to the new room I followed the manager to the first room and she said the smell was like off fish. Within seconds of leaving that room on my second trip to colllect my luggage, I saw a poor guy heading into the room I just left! I am not sure how he coped as the smell was literally making me feel sick. You can't open a window in the rooms and get any fresh air. There is no way I would stay here again.

This place you need to avoid . No spare toilet paper and what was left was less than 10% of a roll. The body wash and shampoo single use bottle had been used already and the used bar or soap still in the shower cover in hairs . The main hallway smells strongly like cat urine and no one was on site to help! Also to make matters worse found few curly hairs in the bed - are they not changing the sheets also?!? Either way won’t be back.

This is a relatively modern Quest and the rooms are a decent size, we didn’t find them noisy like some reviews and in fact the room was very quiet and a great nights sleep. Easy check in and check out, centrally located, we would certainly stay again.

No windows open whatever in the room... leaving it smelling absolutely stale. There is a air-conditioning unit above the bed: it was useless plus the light & noise from it made sleeping impossible. Finding unfolded blankets in the wardrobe makes one wonder how clean the room actually is. Will not stay again.
