Angelo and his team couldn't have done any more for us. The room we booked was not described as a seaview room, but i emailed as it was a birthday weekend stay and we had a reply confirming we were in a seaview room. The room was spacious and exceptionally clean with a mini bar, stocked with water (and restocked daily) and pop on arrival. The bed was amazingly comfortable with sufficient pillows and nice bedspread. The seaview was of the fisherman boats looking into the little sea where you could see the mussels being cultivated. The toiletries were of good standard, as to were the coffee and tea facilites, a lavazza coffee maker and a kettle if you were a tea drinker. The atmosphere of the hotel was lovely, and the interior design was nicely thought out, not too cluttered but also not too sparce. The old area itself is going through a lot of rejuvenation which needs a lot of money injected into it to make it ultra special but Palazzo Mata is truly a diamond in the rough. Taranto itself was interesting. Initially we were not going to stay but after a trip to one of the nicest beaches we have ever been too, including the maldives, and a tuk tuk tour, both arranged by the lovely people at the hotel, we are so glad we did. The trip was the highlight of our 2 week tour of italy and we will definitely be back. All the team at palazzo mata (family run) should be proud on what they have achieved and definitely made us welcomed from the food, the icecream birthday "cake" & other

I picked this property for our 25th wedding anniversary night. It was more expensive than other properties around but it was worth it. The manager gave us a sea view room and also surprised us with a free bottle of sparkling wine and some local bakings. We loved the high ceiling in the room. They helped us with a trip to Isola di San Pietro. The breakfast was also every good - here you can actually ask for almost anything and they will do it - unlike other places we stayed in Puglia - where they mostly serve continental breakfast.

The mentions are always made with a view to the room price of more than EUR 220 per night. We had a terrace suite. Positive points: Beautiful view from the terrace of fishing boats and Mare Piccolo. Terrace nice You have to know that it takes a good 15 minutes on foot from the hotel to the new town, but the walk through the half-ruined old town, where the buildings are slowly but surely being restored, is very beautiful and completely safe. The morbid old town is slowly starting to come to life again, cool bars and restaurants are springing up. Negative points: Very small, even unpleasantly small room with an unpleasant musty smell (clearly damp). From the 3rd floor onwards, the room has to be reached via a wooden staircase, lugging the suitcases up there is exhausting, but doable. Room not particularly clean, dust in corners and under the bed. Very small bathroom, unpleasantly narrow, very unpleasant musty smell. Low ceiling height. No bidet. Small plastic cups for toothbrushes... No storage space for suitcases, no cupboard. So everything is lying around somewhere in the room. The jacuzzi on the terrace was already filled with warm water when we arrived (strange...) and it also smelled very unpleasantly musty. The mere thought that the water might have been in there for a while and that other guests had possibly "used" it before is unpleasant. Breakfast really nothing special, we had much better in Puglia. No fruit available. We went to a nearby bar for a good cappuccino. The boss Angelo's not particularly motivated attitude is also unpleasant. We were treated without a smile and without charm and he also seemed simply demotivated when we made a reservation for a boat. The employees are friendly. But it is strange when the owner treats the guests unmotivated and without charm. There are really more motivated hosts in Taranto. We looked around for hotels in the immediate vicinity and found a few offers (larger rooms, also with a view of the harbor, with a terrace but without a jacuzzi...) and the prices were about half (also 4* hotels). So overall we were really disappointed because of the very penetrating smell of damp in the room and the uncharming service and will definitely not go there again

O restaurante do hotel é excelente.
